New Cross Reference > Showing Page number near the Paragraph Text proposal
Hi Guys !
Something that could be great in indesign is having the possibility of showing the page number corresponding to the Paragraph Text proposal, when we creat a new Cross reference.
For exemple, here I work with a big catalog of 500 pages, and 500 titles.
I need to creat a cross reference between intermediate TOC and the title,
But when I have MAny times the same title, it becames to be hard to test eache title to get the good page number
for exemple my search right now is :
TITLE OF PRODUCT
TITLE OF PRODUCT (1)

Reinstate option to hide Application Bar
This option has been removed in 2020.

The ability to mention (@) guest users
Not everyone who will review my projects have an Adobe account, but I still need to be able to mention them in order to draw there attention to certain comments or areas on the page.

Rename “Master Pages” to “Parent Pages”
The quote below is from the 30 Aug 2020 Washington Post. My request is to stop using the word “master” in InDesign and change to “parent/child” or another set of neutral terms.
“After the police killing of George Floyd, overdue conversations about race started happening.... Computer- and photography-related groups discussed doing away with problematic technical terms like “master” and “*****” that have long been used to refer to components that control others.“
EDIT: The asterisks in the WaPo quote were put in place by the forum interface, not by me. IMHO, this confirms my point.

Conditional rows and columns in tables.
I really miss the possibility to hide/show table rows and columns based on a condition. It would work exactly like conditional text that is already available in InDesign. You would select a table row or column and apply a condition.

Double page / spread preview
I would appreciate a double page / spread preview for single page documents. That would allow me to work with single pages to achieve certain bleed needs (example: single printed menu card sheets that need bleed all around - but still show as double pages inside the menu book) while still being able to see the layout as a whole. That saves the time of sticking the pages together and separating them afterwards again.
This requests asks for a different approach, but I assume for the same purpose: https://indesign.uservoice.com/forums/601021-adobe-indesign-feature-requests/suggestions/31305193-auto-speads-into-pages

Choosing book layers to output for Print/PDF
I produce several multi-language books & brochures that consists of up to 114 separate documents linked via a Book file. Each language has its' own layer with the same name in all documents while other layers are exclusive to, or only exist in some documents. Currently when I have to Print or create a PDF of a specific language I have to open every single document to activate the layers I want visible, save, and then proceed to output the entire book.
I would like to propose that Indesign incorporate an additional tab in its' print/pdf dialog boxes that lists…

Custom Columns
When setting up margins and layout it would be great if the user could customize the width of individual columns. For instance I start a new document that's 8.5 x 11 with 2 columns and a gutter that's .25. At some point, either the initial document creation or after, it would be amazing to change the width of one of the columns and in so doing it adjust the width of the other column while keeping the gutter the same. This would help for much more dynamic, asymmetrical and feel visually more organized than simply bringing in rulers. Horizontal rows…

ability to choose layers to print in the print dialogue
It would be nice to have the ability to activate/deactivate layers in the print / export dialogue box, especially when printing book-files which contains a lot of documents with language layers. Now I'll have to open all documents one-by-one to switch language before I can print /export the complete book file for that language.

Ability to add an image to a note
Add the ability to add an image to a note. I work with technical manuals that are image heavy and some of my reviewers like to add examples of what they're looking for by showing an example of a different document.

Improve UI Efficiency of Styles Panels
SEE ATTACHED SCREENSHOT—
The UI of the styles panels is way too spacious in some areas and, as a result, way too compressed in other ways.
The panels have to be stretched wider than they should just to read all the text.
Attached screenshot has a before-and-after with analysis and proposed redesign.

Hide table rows and columns
I would like the ability to hide table rows and columns, like can be done in Excel.
Even better than hiding them would be the ability to apply conditional text to specific rows or columns. Right now, if I need to hide a row, I have to cut it and paste it onto the pasteboard, then when I need it, I have to go back into the table and try to reinsert it.

Shorthand Styles Panel
If someone doesn’t want to have to type the words 𝑡ℎ𝑎𝑛𝑘 𝑦𝑜𝑢 over and over, they simply click 𝐄𝐝𝐢𝐭 > 𝐏𝐫𝐞𝐟𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞𝐬 > 𝐀𝐮𝐭𝐨𝐜𝐨𝐫𝐫𝐞𝐜𝐭 > 𝐀𝐝𝐝:
𝐌𝐢𝐬𝐬𝐩𝐞𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐝 𝐖𝐨𝐫𝐝: ty
𝐂𝐨𝐫𝐫𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧: thank youThat is the typical way users do it. If Adobe can make a new panel called 𝐒𝐡𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐒𝐭𝐲𝐥𝐞𝐬 that would be helpful. It would function almost like 𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐒𝐭𝐲𝐥𝐞𝐬 but be it’s own separate entity:
1. Select the words 𝑡ℎ𝑎𝑛𝑘 𝑦𝑜𝑢 with your 𝐜𝐮𝐫𝐬𝐨𝐫 (or you can select as many words as you want)
2. Click 𝐒𝐡𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐒𝐭𝐲𝐥𝐞𝐬
3. Then, click 𝐂𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐧𝐞𝐰 𝐬𝐭𝐲𝐥𝐞
4. 𝐒𝐭𝐲𝐥𝐞 𝐍𝐚𝐦𝐞: Compliments

Font retirement notifications in app
Really need to start giving us more warning about fonts being retired from fonts.adobe.com. Only having those notifications live on the website is useless - it should be optionally flagged whenever you open a document that's going to be affected.
I mean, ideally, sign generous enough long term deals that they don't disappear off the platform and induce no end of headaches but at least warn us in context!

Single Page Send for Review
Very excited for the Send for Review feature. We've been using Acrobat to do this, so having it baked into is a game changer. Is there a way to review the document as single pages instead of spreads? It helps our writers and copy editors read easier with single pages. Thank you for your help!

Allow users to create a shortcut for a paragraph style including "apply next style"
You can add a shortcut to each paragraph style. If you apply it to several paragraphs they will all be in this style although you may have insert a "next style" to apply.
So it would be great to have the opportunity for 2 shortcuts:
– the way it's used to be
– for applying the style plus next style5 votes -
export to after effects layers
would be great for workflow if it would be possible to import indesign into after effects like photoshop or illustrator files.
