1. Make embedded video readable in Adobe Reader as before

   For many years InDesign has given us the feature to embed video in PDFs. We built a business round this format. Now, with the demise of Flash Player, all our ebooks with embedded video (not Flash content) are not usable by the customers who have bought them over past years, all round the world. We pay no small sum to use InDesign and CS. You have given us this format, which still exists, yet you won't update Adobe Reader with a media player to play the resulting files. How difficult can this be? Other formats exist, yes, but none of them do the same job and they all have problems either with monetization or delivery, so we as a business are in a catastrophic situation. Shame on you Adobe for abandoning your customers of so many years. It makes no sense on many levels, including marketing. Adobe Reader with a media player creates an entry point to Adobe products for many people. You are so missing the point here.

2. Add comments from InDesign to reviewer using Share for Review

   It seems like owners of documents can only reply to existing comments made in the Share for Review document but can't create comments in InDesign that appear in the Share for Review document. Often, we have a question about text or images that the reviewer needs to answer, but we have to first Share for Review and then create the comment there. It would be great if we could convert InDesign Notes to comments for the reviewer that they can see in the Share for Review side panel.

3. Automatic back-linking to endnote source in text

   At the moment, endnotes in exported pdfs are hyperlinked to the endnote page, but there is no "round-trip" backlink from the endnote entry number back to the point of origin in text - as there is in exported epub documents.
   This would be a very useful feature!

4. reorder bookmarks

   Let's say we have a document 40 pages long. The usefulness of all 40 pages vary because of end-user knowledge.
   As such,
   Master users will preferably only read 5 out of those 40 pages.
   Experienced will read 15 pages
   Intermediates 30 pages
   First time users 40 pages.

   Now this already is possible with a plug-in, but I fail to understand why Adobe don't see plug-ins as a clear sign that users want / need the functionality.

   Ok, what would be great is being able to script a user end button that calls the sort bookmarks function. The PDF would already have bookmarks on the pages that needed to be put together.
   But if a "master" then clicks the "master" button, the script reorders the specific pages and puts those exact 5 pages in the beginning of the document.

   In short... a scripted button made on design level, but active on user-end.

   Like I said, this is already possible with purchasable scripts, but it really should be built in in InDesign or atleast in Acrobat.

   Same goes for the other types of users.

5. Liquid text fields for forms

   Allow for text fields to expand (liquid) within middle of a sentence/paragraph. And be able to retain copy placeholder for forms when exporting to interactive PDFs

6. Scroll through placed multi-page PDFs or InDesign documents within InDesign

   Essentially, make the Show Import Options Preview panel directly accessible inside InDesign.

   This would save me a considerable amount of time.

7. Bug: XML w/Images Export (filename)

   Just discovered during XML w/images export that ID is converting images w/spaces in filenames to underscores (causing mismatches, XML itself is correct) — is this a bug? Using ID 13.0.1

   Btw - I know this is a feature request post, but I can't find an easy way to submit bugs!

8. File handling behaviour

   I would like indesign to First, look in its resident (root) folder for fonts and links, then look in subfolders (ie packed folders "fonts" & "Links") and only then, if it cannot locate them, go looking in the folders defined as "original links folder" or "most recent links folder".
   I would like this to apply to both opening a file and to saving the file and exporting files (pdf etc)
   and if this cannot be a default behavior, then I'l **** it to be an optional behavior.

   Why?
   because when I package a file I want the indesign file to use the packaged resources.
   because when I copy the whole folder to experiment on a file I do not want to find out later that indesign has been working with the original links which should not be altered (because client has approved them)
   Because after experimenting on the file and deciding to run with the new version, I overwrite the old links file only to find that I am destroying all the work just completed.

9. Combine Enhance Scanned File with AI

   I have a very large scanned pdf of a document that was typed with an old typewriter. I am transferring it all to InDesign and the quality of the text when I copy and paste from the scanned document is awful which is making me have to retype large chunks.
   It would be very powerful to use AI to test the text and make sense of it rather than the current output which is mostly garbage.
   And when I use the spell suggester, it comes out with such random suggestions which bear no relation to the actual spelling of the word - no context is taken in to the suggestions. Also, the number of times it suggests covid and brexit are ridiculous.
   This whole area of InDesign could be massively improved.

10. Hold Alt when dragging from Bridge/Explorer/Finder to pop the 'Import options' dialogue for that file placement

    QoL improvement - would allow you to skip using the menu interface when you just want to set PDFs/AI to include bleed or not - or when you want a specific page or layer from a paginated or layer file type.

11. When creating hypertext links, please add the ability to configure the link to open in a new browser window.

    Many of the PDFs I create are opened and viewed via Web browser. It's annoying to the user -- and takes them away from our content -- when they click on a link and the link opens in the same browser tab.

12. Defining areas and automating rotation of those areas.

    I publish a paper that has content down the middle and 16- 2x3 ads in frames on the sides.(8 ads on left and 8 on right). Same goes for the opposite side of the paper. I rotate the ads each week so my clients get exposure all over the paper. I publish in several areas so I am manually rotating these ads each week and it takes a lot of time. It would be a HUGE time saver if I could automate this function based on my preset parameters. At the click of a button the ads all move to their new locations. Even if it got them close but I still had to nudge them to their precise spot....just the action of them moving to the new area would literally save me a ton of time. I am a new user trying to move all of my files from QuarkXpress 8. So far I am very impressed with I am learning and how many things ID can do that QE cannot. Thank you for consideration. 13. Faster Form Field Workflow - Batch Editing, Fields List Panel, Faster Renaming

    Need the ability to select multiple form fields to edit their input appearance in batch. Bare minimum we need a list of fields in a panel, similar to Acrobat.

    Couldn't get Acrobat to recognize table fields in a form I made with InDesign, so I converted the cells to graphic cells and made them text form fields. But then I could only select one at a time to edit their names, choose font, etc.

    Working on forms with a lot of fields takes a lot of clicks as it stands now. A panel with all fields would allow faster renaming and editing. Allowing edits of multiple fields would be a huge speed boost.

14. Include bit depth (8/16/32 bits per channel) as an item to be included in the Links panel (or at least in the Info panel).

    I know that bit depth is included in XMP File Info but as this panel is modal (and overly high) it is tedious to fetch this information from there. It would be convenient to have both in Links and Info panels. Possibly these panels could be updated with other useful data, too,. This is useful as HDR is becoming increasingly popular, and while PDFs can include 32-bit images, I'd imagine they are problematic in press.

15. Share for review – the necessity of an output preview

    For a long time in the printing industry, we did our copies to print with low-resolution PDFs that we send directly to our customers by e-mail. The advantage of this method is that for other participants in the graphic industry, we can show how the documents we received will be processed, thanks to the output preview.

    Since most printers don't necessarily print complex layouts and we are concerned with ensuring the quality of the files we receive, I was a little disappointed to see that this aspect of print control was not available in the current version of "Share for review" making it not that interesting for us to use.

    I don't know if this feature will be integrated, but I think it's a must-have.

16. Create paragraph style from manual formatting and apply to all text with the same formatting

    A common task is converting manual text formatting to a paragraph style. It would be great if there were a way to do this automatically.

    For example, suppose I was given a LONG document in which Helvetica 12pt text is the body style, but no actual paragraph style exists for this—all the formatting is manual.

    The current best way to solve this problem is to perform a Find/Change operation for all text formatted as Helvetica 12pt and replace it with my paragraph style for "body text." This works but is tedious, especially when there are many styles in the document, and all the formatting options have to be manually selected.

    It would be much better if there were an option, presumably in the paragraph styles panel menu, to automatically:

    1. Create a new paragraph style based on the formatting of the selected text
    2. Search the document for all text formatted in the same way
    3. Apply the paragraph style to each of those paragraphs

    A real time-saver!

    Would be ideal if this feature could detect character style exceptions (variations in italics, color, weight) and extract/apply those as well.

17. Add Clarivate Endnote for Indesign - Dynamic - work straight from indesign itself

    No need to tell Adobe that MS Word is NOT the way to layout text and graphics, but academia is stuck using MS Word because Adobe does not have support for Endnote software. Indesign endnote features can't compete with the specific capability of the Endnote software. (Search loads of online resources for your references.
    Access to full text research articles.
    Access your research from the cloud.
    Automatic and bulk reference updating..
    Search, read & review PDFs in your library.)
    PLEASE CONSIDER ADDING. Do not want it for incopy, or to import from Word, but to layout DIRECTLY in Indesign when creating papers/writing grants, theses for graduate students, etc. This is a HUGE need. Please consider.

18. Ability to create a custom Glyph

    I need to insert in text symbols that appear on products - I have the symbols as an image which can easily be converted into bitmap/eps or whatever is needed in Photoshop.
    It would be nice to be able to great a custom Glyph set and create your own library of regularly used symbols - I have about 200 of them from the technical writing I do. Inserting them and getting them to "stay put" is very time consuming and it would-be much easier if they worked just like putting in a symbol from a wingdings font or similar. It would also mean that if you changed font size the glyph would also change.

    It's a problem thats becoming more acute for me as more and more buttons on products are becoming symbol only due to globalisation of products is happening (same product to all markets.) A couple of the ones I need regularly are attached. It would also make getting these into a table which is often 14 columns by up to 200 rows with a symbol in each cell so much easier to format and resize to use else where. I regularly work at 8pt for small printed books and 12 pt for ebooks. No matter what you do with hem as graphic they do not scale well.

19. Two requests

    I need my drop shadows to stay in place as intended when I rotate my images. I have to keep adjusting the position of shadows every time. Also, underlines are deleted when converting text to outlines. This is a major issue. I've had many jobs having to add jobs manually when converting to outlines.
