1. Add all DC Pro Roles to inDesign Export Mapping

   Currently, the export mapping for styles in inDesign is limited and does not include all the tags that are available in DC Pro. Some important tags that are missing are BlockQuote, Note, and Caption. This creates a lot of accessibility remediation on the pdf side because of role mapping is incorrect. If I have s style in inDesign called Caption then I should be able to use the export mapping features of that style to assign it to the reserved word Caption in DC Pro. This would eliminate unnecessary work and replace/find searches in the pdf when remediating for 508 accessibility. When working with extensive documents, some are 300 pages+, it takes many hours just to correct the BlockQuote, Note, and Caption tags in Acrobat.

2. Background Tasks button for progress bar while saving

   To duplicate. Export large document to Print PDF, attempt to save while exporting, but background task prevents saving, ok, but only available option is cancel.
   Change would be to add another button to the dialog box to bring up the Background Task progress bar.
   Or an OK button to just return to unsaved document, but panel could then be opened to follow progress.
   Or leave dialog open and allow access to the small animated progress indicator in the top bar to open full background task panel.
   Or allow access to the panel/tab from the sidebar.

3. Highlight text in preview only

   InDesign is often used for templates. It would be really cool if we could highlight text so that it's ONLY highlight in preview mode (W) and the highlight doesn't show in print, PDF etc. That way we can highlight the areas to change each time we edit a template but the highlight doesn't get printed.

4. Network package issue

   I get a error message when I try to export a PDF or make other package from a file that I packaged from company network server. Is like I can't access the links files anymore. And I even can't delete them!

   I'm using the Indesign 13.1 and macOS High Sierra 10.13.6

5. Hyperlink updates

   It seems odd that there is no way to have hyperlinks open in new windows, or have noopener/noreferrer options. The new window would make exported pdfs much easier to use especially since most browsers open pdf links instead of having the document downloaded. And, given the nature of the internet these days, making all links default to a rel="noreferrer noopener" seems like a smart idea to make links safer to use.

6. Improvements to the publish online platform

   It would be interesting to improve the "Publish Online" platform, such as adding options to flip the pages of digital files in interactive pdf. Add visualization options by region in Analytics. Making it easier for the developer and users.
   And also add resources for ebooks.
   And also organization options. As creating folders, it would help a lot.

7. Include a rollover reveal of the hyperlinks in place.

   Checking hyperlinks (i.e. where a button takes you to another page in the document) is time consuming. A rollover reveal of where the hyperlink goes would save an enormous amount of time.
   This could also be an Acrobat feature - i.e. once you have exported as an interactive PDF - you can rollover and check there.

9. Improve Conversion of Adobe Illustrator Documents Into InDesign Documents

   It is a sad, sad day when you realize you built an entire library of corporate charts in the wrong Adobe app. And an even sadder day when you realize that converting Adobe Illustrator files into Adobe InDesign files is not straightforward. You will now spend hours creating text boxes, with copy-pasta-weary fingers... If only converting illustrator text to indesign text were easier... Alas, my fate is bound. Woe is me. I shall make a weak cry out for help to Adobe developers before I continue my trudging along in my pitiful sorrow.

   Description:
   I am trying to convert Illustrator files that are 1-2 US Letter 8.5x11" pages with Text and .svg graphics into Indesign. When I paste the content in, I get an error that says the data will be placed as EPS in order to avoid degraded performance. But I need the text to be editable because our translation service will only provide translations for indesign documents. I end up building it from scratch.

   Why its valuable:
   A way to assign incoming text boxes, lines, shapes, from Illustrator when pasted into InDesign would save me a lot of time. I need to do this for 48 documents.

10. artificial intelligence for text

    Wouldn't it be a nice idea to have InDesign apply some artificial intelligence for looking at the text? Like what ChatGPT can do, but then integrated into InDesign. Checking the complexity, readability, Colorcontrast, tone-of-voice etc of your text. Would love to see that. Or suggestions on how to solve readability-issues for accessible PDF! Yeah!

11. Add ability to edit all InDesign form fields in a table for faster creation and edits

    I can create beautiful forms using InDesign. For example, I create intake documents and questionnaires for law firms. Some of these forms can become dozens of pages long with hundreds of fields. Consider the vast array of information required for an estate plan. For some of these forms, the number of fields becomes literally too many to manage on a one-at-a-time basis.

    Imagine if there was an option to edit a table of all the form fields in a document once created. This process could potentially become super-streamlined.

    One would still be required to draw in the fields, but once in place, converted to input fields and reasonably named (there exist decently speedy ways to do this part), the arduous task of managing all the specific settings of each field could be done very quickly with toggling settings on and off, copy-pasting name prefixes and suffixes, numbering tab orders, etc. The need to select a field, mouse over to the settings, set the settings, mouse over to the next field, select it, etc. is reduced to using the tab and arrow keys and the rest of the keyboard to edit an entire spreadsheet of form data; so smooth and focused.

    Apart from setting up the form in the first place, editing now also becomes a breeze. As the forms get used in the real world, inevitably there are changes to be made based on user feedback. Rather than needing to hunt down all the fields that require edits, I could simply open the table and efficiently click-click-click through the changes.

    This would massively simplify the creation and editing process, making InDesign the first choice as the form-building standard.

    Considering the current situation with the Covid-19 Pandemic, the ability to fill in forms from home on mobile devices, but offline (can't guarantee everyone's internet connection is good) is much more crucial to businesses. Data collection can't always be managed with a database, especially if we want quick turnarounds without high-cost programmers.

    Please consider this feature ASAP! Thank you!

12. type measurement units

    I choose inches for my units. It used to be, that even when I did this, type units were always in points... specifically space before and space after paragraphs. Now, they display in inches. I know I can type in "p8" and it will convert... but I need to SEE it in points, rather than having to change my units every time I need to see this. I thought that previous versions also had, in preferences, units specifically for Type. I would like this feature back.

13. Make EXPORT and print dialogues more correct

    The “spreads” function when combined with bleeds or trims options should warn to the effect that “Printers rarely accept spreads are you sure?”

    While we are at it, the standard pressready setting should include bleeds.

    Sick of sending back files advising that spreads is not a "print ready" and explaining what bleed is and how include bleed on pdf.

14. Vertical Pages Placement

    Vertical Pages Placement would be ideal for creating emails and web pages quicker. (Please see the attached image to understand what I am referring to)

    The idea is to created the pages vertically at the correct pixel size and in the correct flow order of the email/webpage design, that once the design is complete you can easily export the individual element as separate .jpg or .png etc.

    When looking at the numbers on the different boxes (Pages) I would like to be able to place number 6 next to box 5 on the right so it aligns with the rest of the boxes. This feature would be very useful when exporting the separate elements when uploading to dot digital.

    Most designers I work with will design and email in indesign and export it as a high res pdf, then open it up on photoshop and slice the sections up. This is a longer way of working and not as accurate either.

    If you would like this feature to be added to indesign please vote on the so the developers can implement this new feature.

16. Archivo físico además de publicación online.

    Además del link que se obtiene en "publish online" muchos clientes quieren archivo físico animado e interactivo. Actualmente sólo se puede publicar mediante link o app, y el pdf está muy limitado para animaciones ¿Adobe, de lleno en la era digital y no se puede crear archivo "físico" animado e interactivo desde Indesign?. El EPUB da muchos problemas así que no es válido.

17. Ability to change the DEFAULT setting for Object Layer Options to 'Use PDF's Layer Visibility'

    Offer a way (ideally in preferences) to change the default setting in Object Layer Options for "When Updating Link" to be set to either 'Keep Layer Visibility Overrides' OR 'Use PDF's Layer Visibility'.

    At present it always defaults to 'Keep Layer Visibility Overrides,' and adjustments have to be made manually.

18. Export the data of forms not just by email

    Currently when you fill a .pdf document with forms created by Adobe Indesign CC (or Acrobat PRO DC) the just possibility to send the data is using a email client (outlook, thunderbird, ...) or sending this document in attachement of an email.

    It would be interesting to using an other solution because fewer and fewer users use email client... and used an attachement is less "user friendly".

    I think it would be possible to send the data using an interface or an bridge... for example a specific site (creativecloud.adobe.com ?) that would store the data directly using a URI : http://creativecloud.adobe.com/form/name_of_form?field_1=data_field_1&field_2=data_field_2&... ?

    All easily customizable in Adobe Indesign. You see what I mean ?

    I am making book layouts and facing an issue during the Epub export. I have book chapters that use two paragraph styles. The first style is for line one, "Chapter X" and the second paragraph style is for the next line with the chapter name. I can't use the same Paragraph style for both lines because they should be formatted differently.

    My question is, can you add a feature that allows using a chain of paragraph styles to create an Epub table of contents? The chain can use the very first style formatting and add the second line with the different paragraph style at the end of the first one keeping the format of the text as it was in the very first style.

    To illustrate what I'm writing about:
    Here is what I have now on the epub TOC after export:
    First TOC line [Paragraph style 1]: "Chapter X"
    Second TOC line [Paragraph style 2]: "Chapter name"

    What I am excepting to get:
    First TOC line [Paragraph style 1 + Paragraph style 2 (which convert its format style to style 1)]: "Chapter X. Chapter name"

    So two paragraph styles are merged into the one Epub style, which allows getting a single TOC string.

    And also need to make a divider between two merged paragraphs. The divider can be "." or ":" or some other character. This needs to separate "Chapter X" from the "Chapter name" to make it like "Chapter X. Chapter name" and not "Chapter X Chapter name".

20. Describing the purpose of a link in EPUBs using aria-label

    It would be really great if hyperlinks would get an (optional) attribute to describe their purpose, and this being reported in EPUB outputs as values of aria-label attributes.
