  1. Archive pages, spreads, artboards, etc. within a file without deleting them for good

Wouldn't it be great if we could "archive" pages or spreads in inDesign (or artboards in illustrator, photoshop)? I want to be able to show options to my clients, and then narrow down those options by archiving pages without actually deleting them. Because sometimes, bless their heart, they want something from one of those already deleted ideas.

  2. Please make live captions work also on anchored images!

Please make live captions work also on anchored images! And when I wait for that - tell us that it is impossible now, beceause I have tried several hours to understand why live captions don't work in my document with anchored images. When I read the user handbooks it doesn't tell me!!!!

  3. Make it faster!

I have 16GB of memory on my graphics card and 128 in my computer, but Indesign only utilises 2GB & 16GB respectively.

I regularly create multi-page documents that need complex vectors, style sheets, table of contents, etc which I cannot create in Illustrator and would slow me down even more if I had to.

I'm also using a 10-core 3.6Ghz i9 processor. I don't know how many cores InDesign uses, but I would like to know if it utilises all of my processor cores. If it doesn't, can you make it do so please.

  4. Please bring back Indesign CS6 feature of Footnote Leading to be at zero so that We can have inline footnotes.

Please bring back the Indesign CS6 feature of Footnote Leading can be made at zero so that We can have inline footnotes. (Multiple vertical footnotes can be made in the same line horizontally to save space). Please see the attached file as an example. Currently, all the CC Indesign versions by default put a space between footnotes vertically (Leading). No matter what it does not allow the multiple footnotes to be in the same line horizontally. That is like deleting a very useful feature and reducing the capabilities of Indesign for Publishing industry formatters like us.

  5. vertical scrolling

I would like to be able to view my InDesign document as single-page scrolling instead of as a spread. When on my laptop, I can't easily see the text on the pages if I'm in a spread, and I'm often making changes with an open PDF next to me, so if I could scroll them together, it would be so helpful. I can't believe at this point in InDesign's evolution that this isn't an option. (I want to keep the spread view as well but would like the option to view single-page.) Thanks!

  6. Enable black only trim and bleed marks for digital print export.

Enabling black only trim and bleed marks will reduce the need for third party software. Digital presses print process marks in full color on black and white pages. These have to be removed so that the client does not pay color rates for black and white pages in a book.

  7. Auto save every change to Creative Cloud and Dropbox

There really needs to be an auto save like you find in Office 365 & Google Docs. I know it has a background auto recovery but I don't trust that. It would make everything easier if every action was auto saved via cloud to the original file. Of course, still keep the back up recovery save feature.

  8. Ability to apply color to some or all of the individual style names in paragraph/character style palettes.

It would be so great to be able to apply color to some or all of the individual style names in paragraph/character style palettes, the way we can in the drop-down tool palettes.

The InDesign interface is terribly small (compared to Illustrator or Photoshop) and even my special computer glasses -- in conjunction with a 43-inch monitor -- are unable to compensate. There are times when I have 30-50 styles for large projects but use particular ones consistently over the others. I have a very hard time picking these out without stopping to stare, get close, examine the palette --…

  9. Tagging/Notifications for Guests

I use the Share for Review feature mostly with users who do not have or need Adobe licenses - and for security all documents have to be password protected. Therefore, most of my reviewers are 'guests' and only receive notifications if I reply to something they said. If I add a new comment on my own, or revise text or try to direct their attention to a new Pin, they do not receive any kind of notification. It would be useful if I could tag guest users via their email address and they could get an email. If this is…

  10. Open Current File Location

It would be amazing if you add Open Current File Location under the "File" dropdown.

It is a really minor thing, but it would significantly impact productivity.

  11. Combo box and list box csv import

Hello, I was wondering if you all could make a system for Excel or CSV data to be imported into interactive elements like combo boxes and list boxes. Its a real pain to manually input an array of items and also not have the ability to edit them in their place. The current process requires deleting an element in the list, and retyping it and then manually type in alot of options. Imagine if having to make a combo box that included all 50 states.

  13. index

Right now the cross-referenc markers in the index cannot be modified. They are set to e.g. see or see also. They cannot be switched easily to another language. So everytime a document is translated those cross-reference markers need to be translated manually in the document (find & replace) which means that everytime the Index is updated or the document is translated again the markers again have to be translated.

  14. Watermarking

Add an option to export as a watermarked copy and allow a text box to add the watermark desired and allow an intensity box. Also, give the option to supply a password to anyone you would like to remove the watermark once the file is received.

  18. Show/hide buttons

We are working on interactive brochures with indesign but it is really difficult. If you have a page with a high number of buttons it is almost impossible deal with them because the window ("show/hide buttons") to control them is too small, you can't resize it and you can't change the position of the elements inside it...

Could you please solve this problem?

  19. PDF comments: see/keep local formatting

I’m missing two things. First, the PDF Comments panel menu doesn’t display local formatting (italic, bold, bold italic) whereas these are visible in Acrobat. Second and most important, when accepting a comment, any local formatting doesn’t translate into InDesign. As if the whole content is treated as plain text.
