An error occurred while saving the comment Andrewtb333 commentedYeah why isn't this a thing? Should be like bookmarks. I have a bunch of objects that are buttons in my document and they don't export to PDF but I have no good way of finding all of them!!

An error occurred while saving the comment Andrewtb333 commentedFurther info: the resultant PNG is 600dpi in both cases, it's just that if it's not set to "high quality" the placed PDF component will be the lo-res preview only.

An error occurred while saving the comment Andrewtb333 commentedTo the last two commenters: no. It's not the same thing. Changed the paragraph style to heading 1? Click somewhere else, press F4. Click somewhere else, press F4. Added a table row? F4 to do it again. Changed the settings of a drop shadow? Click on another shape, F4. Transform again only does specific things, i.e. transformations. An F4 equivalent is essentially a short-term shortcut key for absolutely anything.
An error occurred while saving the comment Andrewtb333 commentedThere are some comments below that indicate people don't understand what we're asking for. I have set up a shortcut in InDesign that is essentially "transform again", which is fine in certain circumstances. Someone mentioned ctrl + alt + U which is step and repeat, sure, that's also good.
What we mean though is what F4 does in Word. If you apply a style to some text, you can click on more text and press F4: the same style gets applied. You can change the colour of something: click something else, F4, same colour. Insert a table row: F4, you get another, and another. It repeats the last thing that you did, and it's such a time saver. Perform action, then click-F4-click-F4-click-F4.
Take applying text styles. In InDesign yes, you can apply a keyboard shortcut. But it's modifier key + keypad so it's always two hands. Click, *hands off mouse to keyboard*, apply style. Repeat. And that's if you already have a shortcut key set up. With Word, you can select text, click a style, then click-F4-click-F4 and you're done.
AND it applies to nearly everything you do with formatting, deleting, inserting (some table formatting actions aren't included but that's about it)
An error occurred while saving the comment Andrewtb333 commentedIn case the latest comments don't make sense, they were in response to an Adobe person marking this as "solved" by suggesting that we could assign a shortcut key to one of the "transform" functions. That part of it seems to have disappeared (or not been part of the conversation here, as it announced itself via an email and a link to response let here).
An error occurred while saving the comment Andrewtb333 commentedThis isn’t really the same thing. Word can repeat something like “apply that paragraph style” or “insert a table row”. I already have F4 assigned to “transform again individually” or whatever it is so that if I move or resize an object I can repeat it, but it only applies in limited scenarios.

An error occurred while saving the comment Andrewtb333 commentedI am having a similar issue: toggling preview mode (w) makes it go away but it's irritating.

An error occurred while saving the comment Andrewtb333 commentedThis drives me nuts. I do a lot of work that involve placed PDFs, most often CAD drawings. To do anything I need to have them set to hi-res display, which slows everything to a crawl. Yes, I know these placed drawings are complicated with lots of objects, but it's maddening that while the wheel spins and it updates every couple of seconds while drawing a simple shape to annotate the base drawing, Task Manager sits there showing InDesign at a measly 15-20% CPU usage (and my overall system only at 30%), and 0% GPU usage because InDesign still doesn't support using the GPU on Windows. I could bug IT for a laptop upgrade as mine's 4 years old now, but it's still not going to address the main issue which is that InDesign will only use a fraction of the resources available to it.

Touch screen on Windows can be disabled by following the steps mentioned on this page by Microsoft:
Hope that is helpful.

An error occurred while saving the comment Andrewtb333 commentedWell... not really. I don't mind the touchscreen in Windows; I just want to turn off InDesign switching layouts when I unplug the laptop from my screen. My laptop sits inverted on its keyboard so InDesign thinks I want to go into touch mode when in reality I would never, ever want to do that because I mean would anyone want to use InDesign in touch mode? I am irritated that tables have not changed since 2002 or something but they spent time making a touch mode.
An error occurred while saving the comment Andrewtb333 commentedI have a convertible laptop with a touchscreen and it seems that every time I turn the screen back over onto itself to set it up as a second monitor it sends InDesign into touch mode. To make it clear: I will NEVER want to use InDesign in touch mode and want to disable it entirely so I don't have to switch back every time. It's a minor annoyance but they add up.

An error occurred while saving the comment Andrewtb333 commentedMost of the time when I go to use this I forget it's paragraph and not character. For me it would be useful to use like Word's highlighter feature. I was going to use it today essentially like a character style to break up a feature list, blocking out some words but no, it applies it to the whole line :(

An error occurred while saving the comment Andrewtb333 commentedNot sure of the exact measurements but it seems like you can only get the arrowhead about 20% bigger or smaller than the default, no matter what percentage you put in. I've gone back to lines and triangles when I need something that looks different.

Hi,
This looks more like a feature modification request.
I am therefore moving this to the “Feature Request” section. Please keep adding your use-cases.

An error occurred while saving the comment Andrewtb333 commentedOnce a group has been moved/copied & pasted from one layer to another it should "forget" the original layers the elements came from.
An error occurred while saving the comment Andrewtb333 commentedOK, imagine you're making a map and have everything on two layers: "Shapes" and "Text". Text is at the top. You make information bubbles that are always on top of everything else, which consist of a circle and a text box over it, on their respective layers. Group them so they are always moved together.
We then later on make another layer called "Images" at the top and place images on it. We want the images to be on top of the shapes, but now they cover the information bubbles, which are supposed to be the topmost things. So create another layer called "Bubbles", select all the bubbles and drag them to the "Bubbles" layer which is now the top layer.
The important thing here is that I have moved these grouped objects to a new layer, so in my mind they have been re-homed.
Later on I decide that I want the proportions of the bubbles to be different, with a bigger circle but the text the same. I ungroup the objects, and any of them that are on top of an image now disappear because they have gone back to their original layers.
My suggestion is that once a grouped object has been moved to a new layer, the objects it consists of should permanently be moved there and given the stack order that it had based on the previous layer assignments.

I have noticed this in InDesign too. Ctrl + Del deletes the word to the right of the cursor until there are no more words to the right of the cursor. At that stage it starts deleting characters to the left of the cursor as if you were pressing backspace.
I see this was reported 6 years ago, LOL
