turn off Touch workspace!
Can Adobe PLEASE stop making the Touch workspace compulsory every time the app launches. Not all users want this. We didn't ask Adobe to turn off our usual interface and replace it with a Touch version.
When we have to go through the mandatory 'hey this is new examples' EVERY TIME just to get into the app, only to have to turn it off by choosing "essentials" (top right) EVERY TIME we launch the app, it becomes a major pain.
Who on earth at Adobe throught this would be a good idea? Surely this is just a bug? Why isn't it fixed yet?

Well... not really. I don't mind the touchscreen in Windows; I just want to turn off InDesign switching layouts when I unplug the laptop from my screen. My laptop sits inverted on its keyboard so InDesign thinks I want to go into touch mode when in reality I would never, ever want to do that because I mean would anyone want to use InDesign in touch mode? I am irritated that tables have not changed since 2002 or something but they spent time making a touch mode.

I have a convertible laptop with a touchscreen and it seems that every time I turn the screen back over onto itself to set it up as a second monitor it sends InDesign into touch mode. To make it clear: I will NEVER want to use InDesign in touch mode and want to disable it entirely so I don't have to switch back every time. It's a minor annoyance but they add up.

InDesign refuses to install properly on one of my machines. It functions fairly normally except there are several items MISSING from the preferences settings that are there on my secondary machine. Same version same everything. One of the missing options is the ability to turn off that terrible home screen and the other is that my document randomly resets (mid project even) to the Essentials workspace. Thankfully without the tutorial.
I have uninstalled - reinstalled - with and without copying preferences from the 2020 version. It is a mess and I have not seen any mention of this except for your post.
I hope it gets sorted out.
