The fix of the issue is now available in the latest InDesign 2024(v19.5.0.084). We recommend you upgrade to the latest version for the fix.

If you are unable to see the update, go to the Creative Cloud application and click on the context menu on the top right and click on Check for App Updates.

It's completely random. It works on one file and doesn't on the other. Axaio has been in contact with you and PAC about the problem. Here is the reply I got from Axaio:

thank you for your request. We have already seen this error recently. Unfortunately, this is caused by InDesign since 18.4. In the current InDesign 18.5 it is still a problem. Until InDesign 18.3 the export was still ok. We are also in contact with the PAC vendor. The problem is somehow font related. In another InDesign file we found out that it works if the "Avenir Book" is used as True Type instead of the "Avenir Next LT Pro Regular" (Open Type).
So you can try to change the font. We recommend downgrading InDesign to 18.3 via the Creative Cloud app. We will keep you updated with any news on this.

The only way around this is to add shading only to the bottom and not to the top. The only problem is you have to add the top shading to the top most line and hope there is no underline in the text. Not the best work around. This shouldn't happen, please fix!

According to the ISO-32000, the Hyperlinks are NOT supposed to be populated into the Alt-Text field. They should be entered into the Contents Key (see attachment) instead.
InDesign currently does place them in the correct place [see screenshot attached].
While someone using Acrobat can also add them to the Alt-text field, this is technically less correct than entering into the Contents key but either will pass an Accessibility checker.

InDesign implemented this correctly based on the above information (provided by Accessibility experts, like Dax Castro, thanks Dax).

    Closing this issue.

The fix for this issue is now available in the latest update of InDesign – version 16.1

Please update to this version to get the fix. To prevent problem on existing documents and see the footnotes again, you will have to force recompose the stories.
To force recompose stories, you can use the shortcut Command-Option-/ (slash) on Mac or Ctrl-Alt-slash on Windows

What the ****! I just sent a document to our client and it was missing all the footnotes! This is a serious bug that needs to be fixed immediately.

It's pretty annoying trying to find out where colour is being used when it's not attached to the text. Find by an object like Illustrator would be nice. Some way to tell if a colour is being used by a style sheet?

I would like to add to this feature. Please treat the rules and borders the same. If I add a border to the bottom and set to text it will go as long as the paragraph. If I do the same thing in rules it will go as long as the last sentence. The offset is also different. Borders are more precise when you offset them, rules seem to start in the middle of the paragraph. If I set a rule with a .125" offset, the same offset in borders will be different.

A trick I use to keep borders inside the frame is to turn on the top rule and set it visually to the top border with keep rules in the frame turned on.

YES! It doesn't make sense that rules have this function and not the border.

Perhaps there could be a function for last line rather than no space between or both options. As an example, I often give less space between bullets and a larger space at the end of the list.

Basically works the same way as Word. Open Word and check out how they do it.
