    We have released InDesign 2021(v16.0.0.77) with a lot of stability fixes. We recommend you upgrade to the latest version (if you’re not already on it) as it is more robust.

    If you still face this issue even after updating, please send the following information to santalwa@adobe.com:

    • Quit InDesign and create a backup of Preference and cache. Relaunch InDesign to observe if the preferences have been reset.
    • Next time when you encounter a crash, create a backup of Preference and cache prior to InDesign launch. If the issue is encountered, send the back up of preference and cache to the above mail ID

    This is still an issue on the prerelease of 15.0.2.

    Hi Aman. I'm only using 2020 (15.0.1) and don't have 14.0.3 installed. I don't want to and can't go back to 2018 InDesign. It seems an odd solution for a current piece of software for you to suggest going back 2 years! I've only had this problem since using 2020. It was fine in all previous versions.

    I've tried that and it still didn't work. I then deleted all the preferences for InDesign, uninstalled it, said to remove all preferences there as well. Then I restarted my Mac and then reinstalled InDesign, setup my preferences how I need them then Quit to save the preferences. Reopened then false quit to simulate a crash. All my preferences are reset to default again.

    Definitely on latest version of InDesign (15.0.1) and still running MacOS Mojave 10.14.6.

    Whenever InDesign 2020 (15.0) crashes or I have to force quit, ALL the preferences switch to default. I always quite then relaunch after changing prefs and it does save them. It's only when it crashes that it then reverts to default.

    It's really annoying having to go back and change everything. I have a workspace setup which saves my panel states so I can choose that again but it definitely feels like a bug to me.

    I would also like the ability to change the actions of several buttons at the same time. I'm trying to get buttons on a curve so having to make multiple buttons for the same thing. Being able to batch select a load of shapes and changing them all together would save SO much time!

    This is still broken and defeats the point of being able to PDF directly without creating a new InDesign file first.

    A5 technically is 148.5mm x 210mm (half of 297mm is 148.5mm). Our systems anyway require documents to be setup at 148.5mm. It would just be useful to be able to change the built in sizes.

    That's been a real issue for us and we end up splitting rows manually which is a pain when you have to do any reformatting. Totally agree that tables in Word are far superior to InDesign. The whole feature could do with a bit of an overhaul.

    What were the issues you were having that made you revert to 2018? There are several bugs that have been fixed in 14.0.1 and it's much more usable now.

    In using this in the final release of 2019, there are a couple of things I've spotted that could be improved:

    1) The sticky notes icons are VERY large compared to how they look in Acrobat. It's quite difficult to see where the note is actually referring to, especially when working on a document with a lot of comments.

    2) The sticky note icons cannot be moved (only removed by either ticking the Resolved checkbox or by deleting the comment) so it's hard to read the text underneath. When going through comments in the PDF, I would normally move the note I'm working on so I can see what the text used to be and can then make a call on what the change actually is. Our customers aren't always too precise with the changes and it needs a bit of thought!

    In response to the comments (from me as well!) about only being able to use comments from a PDF created in 2019, you can export the comments from the comments panel in Acrobat then reimport them into your PDF created in 2019 and it will then open into InDesign!

    I noticed in the beta that it only works on PDFs made from that version of InDesign and then comments added. I tried on an old actual job with the comments on and it wouldn't import. Is that how the final functionality will work? I ask because we do get some customers who update old PDFs (which we still have current InDesign files for) and it would be good to use this new function on those jobs in the future if possible.

    This sounds really good and I'm keen to get using it as soon as it's available. For us, the workflow would work really well as once we've sent a proof to the customer, it's very rare that we'll keep working on the document.

    The history feature someone suggested would be a great idea too.

    This sounds like it would work perfectly for us based on your proposed workflow. Most of the changes we get have other notes that aren't to go into the document so it would be good to be able to cherry pick parts from the comments to then put into the document. It sounds like that's how it's going to work anyway so all good!

    I totally agree with this. We have a number of clients that decide not to comment on a PDF but to make the changes themselves. Then the original InDesign file is out of sync with what they've done and we have to go through and copy and paste everything again to make sure we've captured the changes. Especially when the customer doesn't remember what they've changed (that happens a lot!)

    Have you tried saving the document as an IDML and then opening that then resaving as an INDD file. We have some files that have been worked on a lot over the years and they become bloated. Usually doing the IDML save gets rid of a lot of the stuff you don't need. It may not work but I'd give it a go.

    I've since updated my Mac to HIgh Sierra. It seems to have fixed the missing panels bug but sometimes now when I click on say Swatches (when it's collapsed), it doesn't do anything and neither do any of the other panels that are collapsed. It needs and InDesign (and sometimes complete) restart before it will expand them.
