Issues in rendering some Assamese conjuncts
The Assamese 'reph' and 'rakaar' are not properly rendered while using the Assamese font "Banikanta", a font released by Govt. of Assam in India. The font can be downloaded from http://www.publicationboardassam.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/02/Banikanta.zip
The font works well in all the other tools and platforms including MS-Word, Libre office etc.
Being associated with the development of this font, I have seen that the issue is seen due to the problem of the improper rendering of Adobe InDesign. In this font we have skipped the mapping of Bengali "Ra" (U+09B0) to construct the 'reph' and 'rakaar" as it is not used in Assamese and instead used the Assamese "Ra"(U+09F0). But even when Assamese “Ra” is typed to form the “reph” or “rakaar”, Indesign converts it to Bengali ‘Ra” and since we have not mapped the Bengali “Ra” to “Reph” and “Rakaar”, it doesn’t not display in the desired form.
Moreover, there is another problem. When U+09AF BENGALI LETTER YA (antaḥstha za) occurs as the last member of a consonant cluster it has a special shape called ya-phalā. But in Assamese ya-phalā shape should occur only when U+09DF (Yya) occurs as the last member of a consonant cluster. The font has this provision, but Adobe InDesign fails to render it correctly. The problem can be reproduced in Adobe InDesign CS6 (Version 8.0)

library panels display
the background color of the library panels in Indesign and Illustrator take on the same color of the interface (as from the latest version of indesign CC 16.1) As I have the dark interface selected, the icons and other assets are almost invisible. There is no way to change it, switching to the light interface is the only thing that helps.

Export PDF doesn't allow "Two-up (Cover Page)" view
Using InDesign v16.1:
Export PDF preset "High Quality Print" or "Press Quality" viewing option layout for "Two-up (Cover Page)" is grayed out and unavailable. Though if exporting using preset "Smallest File Size" all options available for the PDF layout.
For book or brochure PDFs, "Two-up (Cover Page)" is the standard, and it used to be available for all export options.———a bug??3 votes -

行スタイルのバグ?
-環境-
InDesign 2020(バージョン問わず発生)
MacOS X Mojave 10.14.6
3 votes -
Can't change the names of Object States
In InDesign 16.1, the entry box for changing the names of Object States flashes open and closed in a fraction of a second—too fast for entering a new name. This was not a problem in previous versions of InDesign.
3 votesThe fix for this issue is available in InDesign v. 17.1
Please NOTE that this fix also requires you to update to Mac OS Monterey version 12.1

The UI is not scaling correctly on Windows 4k screens - UI too small
Hi, I am having problems with the UI Scaling on InDesign on my 4k laptop. I am using the recommended system scaling of 250% which works well with other apps except for Adobe, most noticeably InDesign. I pay a premium price for Adobe CC which should be reflected in their products. The UI is way too small on InDesign compared to Illustrator and Photoshop.
I also have problems in all adobe apps when using an external monitor to expand my screen size. Dragging the apps from one monitor to the other does all sorts of weird things.
I have attached images showing the difference of the UI between Illustrator (which looks normal) and InDesign.

PDF comment zoom changes
Steps to reproduce: .When clicking through the list of PDF comments and a new entry is called there is a chance that the zoom level of the Indesign view is being changed from its original setting. Expected result: the zoom level should be kept in line with the users setting. The focus should jump to the position even when a marked area might not be visible in full in that zoom level. Actual result: Zoom level changes, sometimes even when only a full stop has been marked in the PDF comment to e.g. full page view zoom which is time consuming as additional clicks are required to find the relevant position.

Share for Review breaks when INDD files are duplicated for versioning
Everyone I know who uses InDesign duplicates files regularly to create various versions of documents. Share for Review seems to have a major problem with this. When I create multiple versions of a document by duplicating an original, InDesign cannot seem to differentiate between the various versions, even if they have different names and are completely separate files. The only solution seems to be if you have only one document open at a time and break the link to start over. It's maddening, as I have 9 versions of important documents that I need to share for review, and when I try to share, it thinks they are all the same file. This makes no sense.

endnotes hyperlinks
Endnote hyperlinks are not working both ways.
(1) I can go from text to the endnote by clicking on the endnote number in the text.
(2) However, I can not go back to the text from the endnote by clicking on the endnote number. This is because the endnote number has been modified - font type, font size, and indents.3 votes -
indesign crashes when inserting copied text from an external document
indesign cc 2021 16.1
I open an existing indesign document
I copy text from a google doc / external file
I insert text into existing connected text frame with the text spreading over both frames-> indesign crashes
(restarting indesign did not help. restarting the mac did not help. wirting text by hand without copying works. copying text within the document works.)

UI Contextual Interface
Contextual Menu
In the latest update to the application, support for contextual UI interface management has actually got worse.
I utilise a 'dual screen' like many, may designer. I find it unbelievable that Adobe continue to ignore professional reporting of your bugs and lack of real support for the program.
Indesign's lack of contextual UI management is poor, inadequate and pretty much makes using dual screen even more difficult than the last release.
Today, 31/01/2021 (Australia). I find that clicking on the type panel (which I have setup on the right monitor - displays the dropdown for the font size and many, many other components display of the left of the screen!
Who is responsible for this woeful oversight? Who is actually trialling this software (in real world environments)?
I'll also tell you, this isn't this first time I have report this inadequate UI.
Forget some of the irrelevant updates and focus on ensuring the product is fit-for-purpose, because I can tell you - you're not making it easier to use the product, you're making it a lot harder.
What's the point of having two monitors if you are going to force the UI components to render on the opposite monitor?
Version: Latest: 16.1
Steps to reproduce: Dual Monitor setup
Expected Result: Correct display of contextual menus for all components, regardless of dual monitor use
See example uploadedRegards, Paul.

InDesign 16.0.2 exports improper TAGS for "lists" (bullets)
The InDesign source file, which we use annually to produce a report, is now exporting all lists (bullets) with individual <P> tags and not as a grouped (nested) list of <L> tags.
Prior to the upgrade to InDesign 2021 (v. 16.0.2), the source file exported proper <L> tags. The same file, now converted (saved) as InDesign 2021 (v.16.02) has bad tags for bullet/list formatted items.
V. 16.0.2 gives LESS ADA 508 compliancy on the export than the prior 2020 version.

windows moving out of sight
I work with 2 screens. After a timeout (screen wakes up from afterdark), the floting tool windows jumped back to the main screen, partly out of sight. I can't use them anymore because the upper handle jumped above the workfield.
The problem is not solved with returning to my saved workspace.
I can only choose a standard wordspace, and have to order my tools again as prefered. (Quit anoying).
I solution could be, that you can pick up a window also at its bottom. (Is now only at the top).3 votes -
Object States panel - Renaming is not working
InDesign isn't allowing me to rename the different states in "object layer states". I have looked this up and there are a couple of other people who have posted about the same thing. I am running InDesign 16.0.2 and its on a MacBook Pro running the OS BIg Sur.
3 votesThe fix for this issue is now available in the latest update to InDesign - InDesign 17.1 available through CCD app.
Please note that you would need to update to the latest macOS Monterey 12.1 also to see this working correctly.
