primary text frames threading is not honored on document pages
- Adobe InDesign 15.0.1 x64 (Windows 10)
- Facing pages document. I create a master page that includes two text frames per page--creating a two column spread on each page. I designate the leftmost frame as the primary text frame, and then manually link it to the frame just to its right. That frame is then linked to the leftmost frame on the right side page, and that one is linked to the frame furthest to the right. So the frames are linked, from left to right: frame 1 is primary, which is linked to frame 2, then to frame 3 (on the other page) and then to frame 4.
Using the pages panel, I manually insert four pages into my document, assigning the new master page to these pages. The first three text frames are threaded correctly, but then the threading goes completely haywire.
I would expect the new blank pages to replicate the text threading order that I created on my master page.
The text threading goes wacky. I have included an image to demonstrate.
This seems similar to the problem posted in this Bug report (34661228-based-on-master-pages-don-t-inherit-primary-text-f.html) however on the document pages my text frames ARE threaded, just not threaded in the same manner as they were on my master pages. Plus, I am using a much later version of InDesign than the one that fixed that particular problem.

Footnotes disappears
Some footnotes disappeared without reason then appeared back when I changed something in the linked paragraph. InDesign didn't display any kind of warning about this problem.
4 votesHi,
Part of this issue was fixed with the latest release of InDesign 15.0.1For all new files created with ID 15.0.1 the issue will not come. For older files opened in ID 15.0.1, you will have to resize, move or do some text editing operation to make the footnote appear
In case you are still facing the issue in new files created post ID 15.0.0 , please share a sample file
Thanks

InDesign CC 2020 - Error trying to package editorial projects
the last few days Ive been trying to package documents and I keep getting the same error (for whatever editorial project I have) that says "Indesign cannot package the document... Cannot copy necessary linked file(s)" (see printscreen) but all files are properly linked, in CMYK and 300dpi's (as I need them to be - never encounter this issue in over a decade of using Indesign) so Im kinda despairing here since Im on a schedule...
Does anyone know how to help please??
Thanks in advance.4 votes -
Crash when generating Table of Contents
Right what it says on the tin: When I try to generate a Table of Contents from a large Book file (about 14 chapters, maybe 180ish pages total) , InDesign abruptly crashes.

Can't Place Images with Applescript on MacOS 10.15 Catalina
InDesign 15.0.1
The Place command now fails in Applescript, following an upgrade to Catalina.
The "Image Catalog" sample script also fails to place the images in the same manner. Image placement fails with an error 1708, <<the file string>> doesn't understand the "place" message.4 votes -
enableRedraw = false ignored during script run
During a loop to load text snippets to my page ID 2020 ignores the fact that enableRedraw=false and DOES redraw the page on every loop
app.scriptPreferences.enableRedraw = false;
do { app.doScript(insertTexts2, ScriptLanguage.JAVASCRIPT, undefined, UndoModes.ENTIRE_SCRIPT, "Insert Texts " + C2Place + ":" + V2Place); } while (libs[8][3].geometricBounds[0] < pageTextBottom); app.scriptPreferences.enableRedraw = true;
The text is inserted into 8 different frames -- during the loop it SHOULDN'T redraw the page -- but it does (slowing the script down)

Cannot copy/paste elements from 2019 to 2020 without the element becoming an image
InDesign 2019 14.0.3 copy/paste issue into InDesign 2020 15.0.01 (and vice-versa).
Steps to reproduce:
1. In a 2019 InD doc, copy a text box with text inside it.
2. Open a new document in InD 2020.
3. Paste the text box with text inside it into 2020 InD.
4. The text becomes an image instead of live text. Though, no links show up in the links panel.
5. This can be reproduced if copying from 2020 into 2019. But it does not happen if copying/pasting from a 2020 doc into a 2020 doc, 2019 doc into a 2019 doc.
6. This happens with other elements, such as boxes with strokes and no text.I'm not aware of this happening before or that this is a preference issue. Seems like a bug.

Exported text missing Endnotes
Exported text missing Endnotes
We work with Footnotes and Endnotes a lot. And when everything is OK, but after going in print, the text is exported so that the autor can edit it for a next release (Law text and commented law so it changes often). I was very happy when InDesign did begin to work with Endnotes but ... it does not export them. Not even in Version 15.0.1. Footnotes are exported, Endnotes are missing. This is a big bug or an even bigger oversight.4 votes -
Turn off Hyphenation across Page Breaks
I love the don't hyphenate across column breaks, however in some instances I have a 2-column setup and hyphens on the page is ok, but across page breaks is not. Please add this as an option in the hyphenation options. OR add it as something you can check in pre-flight.

Google File Stream Images taking a long time to update in Indesign
Since upgrading to Mac OSX Catalina and adobe 2020 I have issues with google file stream and indesign.
When I open a document with images that are saved on google drive and then open in photoshop or illutrator to edit and then save and go back to indesign, the images are showing as needing updated by indesign (yellow triangle) however the rotating / update round arrows icon is greyed out and I can't update the image. I have to wait several minutes before the image updates on indesign.
I have contacted Adobe support and apple support and neither is claiming responsibility for the issue. Abobe has says that it's not able to verify network sharing as it can be unstable.
All I know is that I've NEVER had this issue before and have had it since the day my computer and apps were updated.
Please help?

270 degrees rotation changes image shapes
When placing an image from Illustrator (like an .ai or .eps) and rotating it 270 degrees will turn round corners into sharp corners. this only happens with 270 degrees rotation not with 269 or 271. Not even with 270,1 or 269,9. This was on InDesign CC 2020 version 15.0.

InDesign crashes when adding Cross-Reference
Adobe InDesign CC 14.0 (Macintosh)
I click Window > Type & Tables > Cross-References. With my cursor in a text box, I click "Create new cross-reference". Sometimes it crashes here; sometimes it opens the dialog.
When it opens the dialog, there is nothing in the Cross-Reference Format dropdown. I can click the pencil and open the Cross-Reference Format dialog and create a new format, but when I click OK the whole program crashes and closes out.
I am not experiencing freezing where I need to force-close -- it closes out completely, immediately.
I created a blank doc and am able to use cross-references there with no issue, but that doc doesn't have all of the fonts and elements and other work from my main file -- which leads me to believe it's something about my file which is contributing to the issue.
I tried saving as IDML which did not correct anything.

export folder
Just installed InDesign CC 2020 and I cannot export to the recent folders. The same folder appears no matter which recent place I choose. I don't even remember saving anything to the folder that shows up.
See what is happening here. Any help would be great so I don't have to navigate through a million folders to save and export my work.

Source Serif Pro font baseline not consistent
I'm using Indesign 15.0 on MacBook Pro (Retina, Mid 2012) running Mojave version 10.14.6
I'm experiencing a bug with the Source Serif Pro font , which I use extensively in a particular project.
I open an existing document, and the text in Source Serif Pro looks as you'd expect it to. When I start to edit the text however, it all jumps down as if the baseline settings of the text frame has been changed (although checking in the settings confirms they haven't been).
Copying and pasting the frame, or the text into a new frame, doesn't help.
It only happens with Source Serif Pro (all weights) - if I change the font, even to other Adobe Fonts it doesn't happen. It also happens in new documents.
It may be worth mentioning that a colleague works on the same Indesign files on a PC (we share the files via Dropbox) but he doesn't experience the issue.
We both share another related bug with Source Serif Pro in that quotation marks just display as 'straight' even though 'use typographer's quotes' is turned on in preferences. This can't be fixed through the Glyphs panel either.
My feeling is it's something to do with this particular font being used a lot over 2 different platforms.
Thanks

selection of diacritic characters such as trop in Hebrew is a disaster
I don’t know what you guys were thinking in 2020, but the selection of Hebrew diacritics, vowels and trop is extremely difficult. You have done it sensibly since InDesign 1.5 ME about 20 years ago! Why did you change it in 2020?
This needs to be fixed fast!
Here is a video explaining the problem: http://somup.com/cqX1Q9f6hD
4 votesFix for this issue is now available in the latest update of InDesign 2020 – that is, InDesign 15.0.1
In the Creative Cloud Desktop application, click on the Updates section on the left. You should be able to see the Update available for InDesign. Please update your InDesign application to this version to try out the fix.
