Maintain vertical alignment textframe when using Text Wrap
When a text frame with vertical alignment 'Bottom' is partially over a frame which uses Text Wrap, the alignment isn't locked to the bottom of the frame anymore. Is it possible to maintain the set vertical alignment when using the Text Wrap option (see screenshot). (MacOS 10.15.7, INDD 16.4 + 17.1)

Dictionary: Added words using context-menu are only in lowercase, but should be with uppercase letter
ID 17.1
Language: German
Using User-dictionaryIf I'll add a word from text (wich contains an uppercase letter at first position) to the user-dictionary using context-menu (right click on mouse), I get the option to add. After this, the word is added, but only in lowercase, although the checkbox "upper/lowercase active" is enabled.
Workaround: Adding the word with uppercase letter by using the menu-bar: "Bearbeiten -> Rechtschreibprüfung -> Benutzerwörterbuch" inserts the word in uppercase.
Please have a look and change it.2 votes -

Copying a URL Hyperlink auto formats to a opening another indesign file
I've been having URL hyperlinks that are copied Document A into Document B are auto format as a shared location that is Document A. But all I want is Document B to have the same hyperlinks, and nothing I've tried will prevent "shared destination" as being the default. All I wanted is the an image with a hyperlink to copy into Document B as a URL. Instead I have random InDesign documents opening without warning and then indesign crashes. I've ended up needing to delete all hyperlinks (attached to both text and images) and entirely reformat each one. Without accidently opening the shared destination document. I'm sure there is a use case for linking between documents, but why is the default for copy-paste opening a document rather than keeping the website URL?

Fonts defined in existing Paragraph / Character Styles Missing after Creative Cloud font type change
VERSION: InDesign 2022 V 17.0.1
We activated the Museo Sans Rounded font via Creative Cloud and have used it in our documents since 2015. Until recently, the font activated by CC had a font type of OpenType Type 1. This font is still available on CC, but its font type appears to have changed to OpenType True Type.
Documents that used the OpenType Type 1 font in a Paragraph or Character style now show this font as missing. The missing font name now displays as Museo Sans Rounded (OTF) in Find / Replace fonts and Paragraph and Character Styles panels. The font type under Find / Replace fonts is OpenType Type 1.
Documents that used the same OpenType Type 1 font without declaring it in a Paragraph or Character style synchronize successfully with the OpenType True Type font on CC and do not show up as missing. The font name displays as Museo Sans Rounded throughout the document. The font type under Find / Replace fonts is OpenType True Type.
A CC library asset that used the OpenType Type 1 font can be dropped into a new blank document without producing any missing font errors. Paragraph and Character styles associated with the library asset display a font name of Museo Sans Rounded. The font type under Find / Replace is OpenType True Type.
The same library asset shows the font as missing if dropped into a file with existing Paragraph or Character styles used by the asset. The font name displays as Museo Sans Rounded (OTF) in Find / Replace fonts and Paragraph and Character Styles panels. The font type under Find / Replace fonts is OpenType Type 1.

Display bug – garbled font randomly show up
Font display bug – garbled font weirdness
InDesign 16.4 on macOS Big Sur 11.5.1
When flipping through pages I get this strange font display issue. See screenshots.
It happens randomly. Not on every page but at least once every 10 pages.I can simply turn preview on and off or go to the next page and back to make the page behove normally again but this should not be necessary.
This happens with all fonts.
This happens every day.
This happens on my colleagues computers as well. They are running various versions of indesign of various version of MacOS.
This has been happening in at least the last three or four versions of InDesign. And, yes, we have tried resetting preferences, restarting, reinstalling, etc
Any explanation for this stange behaviour?

Document grid hiding guides
When unchecking "Grids in back" in preferences>grids, the document grid hides all guides that are places on it.
That is, if for instance I place a ruler guide at the 2mm mark, and it happens to fall on the document grid (or its subdivisions), it will not show.
That is even when the guides are in a different color.
This is extremely problematic, especially in cases where I want to have an image/solid color as a background for my spread, and I want to make use of the document grid and also specially placed guides.
Please fix this, or at least make it an optional preference that we can uncheck.
Thanks a lot,

Font list scrolling performance is laggy even on loaded M1 Max laptop
When slowly scrolling through my font list with a text box active on the page, the scrolling is laggy. It halts regularly.
When scrolling fast, there is no problem.I guess the slowness has to do with the preview function when text is active.
Preferred solutions would be
1) better performance
2) only preview when you click the font or
3) provide a setting to turn previewing on the page off.
I don't have an extreme number of fonts, and I use FontExplorerX to manage my fonts.
I would expect this to be a fluent experience on a 32Gb RAM M1 Max 16 core laptop. Thanks for a fix. When slowly scrolling through my font list with a text box active on the page, the scrolling is laggy. It halts regularly.

search and replace clipboard contents
I cannot do a document-wide search and replace with clipboard-contents (formatted), when using Change All. When I attempt to replace any text with the clipboard-contents (GREP: ~c), it goes through the document, seemingly highlighting and replacing the text, but doesn't in fact change anything. It works when I do the exact search and replace string, but only using Find-and-change, and not when using Change All. Going through each instance (500+) one-by-one would take ages. Please fix the document-wide, Change All search-and-replace with clipboard-contents (formatted).

Regenerate QR-code upon opening IDML
Third party tools are able to edit the content of a QR-code. However, when opening the edited IDML, the QR-code image itself is not being regenerated until the user manually edit's the QR-code en saves it.
I would expect InDesign to regenerate every QR-code upon opening an IDML file.
Use case: translating IDML files using CAT software, where the content of QR-codes needs to be translated (another URL destination per language)
InDesign Version: 17.0.1
Steps to reproduce the issues:
1. Create QR-code in InDesign.
2. Export document as IDML.
3. Edit QR-value directly in the IDML (value for UrlLink attribute of <HyperlinkQRCode> element)
4. Open IDML fileExpected result

InDesign version 17.0.1: Captions generated in InDesign do not export with accessible tagging structure.
I'm trying to get my captions to tag properly when exporting to a PDF (for accessibility purposes). I used the caption functions in InDesign (Caption Setup and Generate Static Caption) to create captions for my images. I watched a tutorial that showed this process and the end result was text tagged as "Caption" and nested underneath the Figure/Image.
Unfortunately, when I export, the caption is tagged as regular paragraph text (<P>), and it is not nested with its associated image. Any tips on how to fix this? I'm trying to do things correctly on the InDesign side, so I won't have to do as much remediation in Acrobat.

Data marge help page QR code section needs visual help
I'm not doing QR codes daily, only on some jobs and some trainings. SO I often refer to the right help page.
Where the image field section is precise, and adds visuals of the table itself :
"Add image fields in the data source file
(…)
At the beginning of the data field name, type an “at” symbol (@) to insert text or paths that refer to image files.
The @ symbol is required only in the first line; subsequent lines should include the image paths. Paths, which are case-sensitive, must follow the naming conventions of the operating system in which they’re stored."The QR Code section gives only little information AND only mentions ONCE the required # sign (which I never remember)
"Though the data entries can be a mix of email, sms, hyperlink, or plain text type. Enter them in the .csv and txt field in the above mentioned format with a # sign on their column name. To generate QR codes, follow these instructions"
Go spot that when in a hurry.
PLUS the data merge panel preview only shows text and images icons, It would really benefit from adding one QR Code line example AND mention those @ and # signs in this section or prerequisite sections.
