Half of the Tools Don't Work!!
This issue used to only happen sparingly and now its happens almost every time i try to use InDesign — making a 5 min edit take over an hour!
Here are the common uses I experience...
- I can't click on the bottom that lets you toggle from preview and regular mode, I have to right click it
- Changing a color gets very glitchy, doesn't actually change the color to what I tell it to, just says the same
- Can't click on the toggle to get the shape tool
- When I click export or "save as" literally nothing happens. This is the hardest part. The only way i am able to save something is by closing out in design and the prompt comes up if I want to save or not save my work. The only way I've gotten it to work is by restarting the app. This used to always work to get rid of the bugs, but lately has had no effect and I just have to wait until I get lucky and the app works.
Please advise because this has been causing me a lot of issues.
I should also mention that I am unable to click "submit bug/feature request". Nothing happens after I click :)

Font issue inDesign 2023
I'm getting a font issue when I use 2023. If I go back to 2022 the issues disappears. The font is loading fine in both versions. Any idea why this is happening?

multiple versions of files from book open upon "converting"
- Opened book (.indb) file saved in previous version of InDesign.
- Double-clicked all the individual files to open them up in InDesign which is a new version (18.0 x64). A warning appeared saying the files will need to be converted if I renumber, etc.
- I used the book file to open all the files and immediately resaved them to update them.
- I made edits to one of the files from the book, and saved.
- Colleagues came on and I used the Book file to bounce between the different document files.
- To quickly save out all my changes, I simply close InDesign and say Yes, Overwrite as the prompts come up. This is when I noticed that it was taking too long for InDesign to close out. Turns out that when I had used the Book file to bounce between files, it didn't actually bounce but instead opened up a second version of the same files, without my edits! As I was closing/saving/overwriting, an older copy of my edited file overwrote my edited file because it had the same name! I lost half a day's work! InDesign book files should not be able to open two versions of the same file at the same time using the same name! Even Microsoft is smart enough to add a "(1)" at the end of a file name to avoid this problem. Please fix ASAP. See screenshots. Thank you.

Spinning Beach Ball appears every time I try to highlight text
- InDesign 18.0
- Seems just clicking with the Text Tool gets a spinning ball. Even worse if I try to highlight after clicking. 30-60 second wait. 3, Expect to highlight text as in the past.
- Once the ball stops spinning, maybe one character has been highlighted.
Troubleshooting steps:
Tried resetting preferences. No change.
Checked for corrupted fonts and removed. No change. (I'm using fonts from TypeKit, which don't appear to be installed in FontBook.)
Uninstalled InDesign. Shut down computer. Reinstalled InDesign.
Checked for corrupted file. (Saved copy. No change. Saved to imdl. No change.)
Tried opening file on different computer. Same issue on that computer.
Tried switching from GPU to CPU. No change.Additional information. Primary computer is running MacOS 10.15.7 with 64 GB of RAM and Radeon RX 580 8 GB.

Page(s) in InDesign moving back and forth; Pasteboard not accessible
InDesign 2023 v 18.0 Page(s) in a document will move back and forth, especially after CTRL Zero short cut key stroke is used. The movement is constant and doesn’t stop without changing the zoom percentage each time.
In addition, InDesign is not allowing me to view work on something on the pasteboard. It moves the document back over and I can’t access the elements I was working on, on the pasteboard. I can change the View to “Entire Pasteboard”, but if I zoom in too far InDesign does the same thing… moves the document back over and I can’t access and work on the elements on the pasteboard.
These issues are new in the last 10 days (for the moving back and forth), and in the last 3 days for the pasteboard issue.
Perhaps these issues are related to zoom capabilities.InDesign 2023 v 18.0 Page(s) in a document will move back and forth, especially after CTRL Zero short cut key stroke is used. The movement is constant and doesn’t stop without changing the zoom percentage each time.

Exported PNGs or JPEGs RGB Colors Slightly Different Versus Illustrator Export For Screens
So here is the situation and setup.
Illustrator File with Pantone Colors (Book LAB colors)
Color Settings are synced via Bridge (NA General Purpose)
Illustrator file is in CMYK ModeIn Illustrator File is exported to PNG (via Exported for Screens)
In InDesign the same Illustrator file is placed in InDesign and then Exported as PNG file.
When looking at the attached image the RGB values are slightly different most noticeably in the red. When looked at with the eyedropper in PS the CMYK values read as the same on both but the RGB is slightly different.
For example:
InDesign PNG File Red = R255 G68 B56
Illustrator PNG File Red = R239 G72 B62I tried saving the Illustrator file with and without an embedded color profile and no difference.
So the question is, am I missing a setting or option somewhere or does InDesign just convert the Pantone/Lab/Values differently and if so should they not be the same across apps?
Note: I did do a test where I converted the Pantone Colors in the FIle to CMYK Process Colors and that made the colors equal but for workflow reasons I like to keep one file and not have to create separate Non Pantone versions of the file if it can be helped.

InDesign '23 interface is not dual-monitor friendly! I am running macOS Monterey 12.4 on a MacBook M1 Pro.
Please update Adobe InDesign to be a more self-contained, movable workspace instead of anchoring the app to a single monitor (namely, my small laptop monitor). I am able to move tool windows and a file window over to my larger screen, but everything opens back on my laptop screen and I have to adjust all over again, unlike with Illustrator or Photoshop. It also maintains a dark gray 'background' over my laptop screen so it's VERY difficult to multitask. I noticed that this became an issue with a recent update PRIOR to the release of InDesign 2023. Publish Online documents have become very slow to load
Since the dashboard update, analytics 'since published' will NOT load.
We're also noticing publish online documents are very slow to load initially.
I'm presuming this is all server side issues at Adobe and would like to know if its being fixed.
Are you forcing browsers to cache online publications before loading?
These are both major issues that might force us to see alternative solutions if not fixed soon.

consecutive Footnote numbering across book file with multiple sections
Currently InDesign can't have consecutive numbering across it's footnotes if you have a publication made up of a number of book files.
It always restarts at one.
That's hopeless if you're doing an annual report where you need consecutive numbering across the entire book.2 votes -
bug: stroke and fill not showing / error
Fill and stroke is not showing when I create a shape / use a template that already has a shape in it.
Additionally, images held in frames with those effects don't show correctly - when opening a file the placeholder frame which has an image in it will then show with a. white fill over the image, and no stroke effect.
However, when you export as a .pdf all the file looks fine.2 votes -
disappearing text paragraph style
I am using InDesign 17.4 under macOS 12.6 on an iMac Retina 5K, 27", 2017 with a 3.4 GHz i5, 32GB RAM, and a Radeon Pro 570.
When I attempt to create a new paragraph style with an active text selection and check 'Apply Style to Selection', any change I make to the new paragraph style, including simply naming the style, renders the text invisible.
The expected result, of course, would be to have visible text.
The actual result is invisible text.
Relaunching ID, restarting the computer, and rebuilding the preferences file all had no effect. The only workaround I have found is to not select the 'Apply Style to Selection' option, create my style, and then apply the style in the document. From there I am able to edit the style without further issue.

BUG/FEATURE: No SEARCH feature for indd.adobe.com documents!
Details: I'm viewing a wine list for the restaurant Cafe Juanita in Kirkland, WA (URL below). Your indd.adobe.com viewer does NOT have a search feature. Which would be super useful on this 28 page wine list! In addition, there is no download button, so I cannot download the PDF and search it locally.https://indd.adobe.com/view/cc7d0fe7-32b2-427b-b6a8-7820ff9bf01f

Indesign 2022 menus not working - renders the software ABSOLUTELY UNUSABLE!!!
Adobe Indesign 17.3 (also happened in 17.4).
MacBook Pro (M1 2021). macOS Monterey v12.4Dropdown menus don't work. If you click, nothing happens, if you double-click the menu appears but, no sub-menus are available. I have uninstalled, reinstalled, tried 17.3 and 17.4, quit, restarted - all to no avail.
Indesign is unsuable with this bug, this requires Adobe's full attention!!!
