1. Error on Save : "Indesign is unable to save this file. We tried, but appears to be damaged."

   While using In Design 18.2.1 on macOS 13.5.2 I am getting the above error (See attached screenshot) whenever I try to save a new file or save as an existing file on an NFS share. The server is not at fault here, as I'm able to Save new files from Adobe Illustrator for instance.

2. Grep Style at end of Frame Does NOT Map to XML or Show the Style is Applied

   Have text lines in a contents like this, where the space is a tab:
   DENTITION 287
   INDEX 299

   The paragraph style uses these two GREP style lines to apply a character style that changes the point size of the number to 8.5 pt.
   \t[ivxclm0123456789]+[\r\n]+
   \t[ivxclm0123456789]+\z

   When the text line is at the end of a frame the number is formatted correctly per the character style at 8.5pt, but when the number is selected InDesign shows the wrong size in the menus, unlike the other numbers NOT at the end of the frame, which shows the point size the number actually is (8.5pt).

   Also, the number in the line at the end of the frame does NOT get mapped to the XML element to which the character style is mapped, the other numbers DO get mapped.

   When creating a PDF, the point size comes out correct as well.

3. Border style bottom is being applied twice to the same text.

   This is a message for all the adobe indesign programmers, before adding new features can you at least fix all the bugs in this program!

   I use the border feature a lot but lately it's been bugger than usual. I have a piece of text that has a border right and bottom. Under it I have another piece of text with the same settings and both have merge borders turned on. Please look at screenshot and tell him what the **** is going on! There is only 2 blocks of text but it's giving me 4 borders!

5. Online Copy Editing for Cloud based InDesign file

   The feature to export for InCopy isn't available in InDesign Beta. Will InCopy be available via cloud based InDesign files in future, or could there a new online copy editor? A more simple and paired back version of InCopy online just to adjust text within Cloud based InDesign file?

6. Override to Character Style Gets Removed

   File from a client had a character style on a phrase making the phrase Italic. They then overrode part of the phrase with the character style back to Regular.

   When a different paragraph style is applied (WITHOUT telling InDesign to remove overrides) the override within the character style goes away, reverting the overridden text back to the character style.

   The problem seems to only occur when the font style of the new paragraph style being applied MATCHES the override that's applied.

   I.e., overriding to Bold, then applying the a new paragraph style that is Bold, removes the override. BUT overriding to Bold then applying a paragraph style that is Regular DOES NOT remove the override.

   This problem can be easily reproduced by doing a new file in InDesign and seems to go back to InDesign CS6.

7. Fonts Issues with InDesign Files (18.5), file sync in OneDrive laptop keep show missing fonts.

   The same file was saved and synchronised in OneDrive. Laptop A can open it with no problem/no missing fonts, but laptop B have this missing font issue every single time it opens. Noted that 2 laptops are the same model, same spec and same version. Both has the same fonts installed as well.

   Please help.

   We have released InDesign 2025(v20.2.0.036) with many stability fixes. We recommend you upgrade to the latest version (if you’re not already on it) as it is more robust.

   If you still face this issue even after updating, please submit the crash report to us. (Guidelines to submit crash are available at (https://helpx.adobe.com/indesign/kb/submit-crash-reports.html )

   Also, please send the following information to santalwa@adobe.com :

   • Reproducible Steps – What were you doing when InDesign crashed?
   • Video recording of the crash

9. Content Collector Panel doesn't open up on MAC M1.

   Content Collector Panel doesn't open on MAC M1 chip. It worked once and since doesn't open up when I click the tool. Is there a way to open it manually?
   It's problem after problem and crash after crash with adobe on the new Macs.

    My version of InDesign (18.5 for Mac) will not allow me to copy and paste buttons correctly. The pasted button shows up in the buttons list, but it is not visible or selectable.

11. Sinhala text render issue

    When typing or copying texts in Sinhala unicode font, the output is rendered incorrectly. For instance, "‌ෙ + ට +ා" must be rendered as "ටො" but in indesign it is rendered as "ට‌ො". It does not create any difference by changing the keystroke pattern. "‌ෙ + ට +ා", "ට + ‌ෙ + ා", "‌ෙ + ා + ට" renders the same output. I tried changing renderer to "World-ready paragraph renderer" but nothing changed in rendering.

12. Eliminate Generating PDF dialog box

    I am constantly bothered by the Generating PDF dialog box for two reasons:
    First, it doesn't play well with my dual-screen setup. If I have InDesign on one monitor, the dialog box often shows up on the othe rmonitor, blocking whatever applications or windows I am working on outside of InDesign. Then I must manually drag it over to the InDesign monitor to get it out of the way. Come on Adobe! Many users have multiple monitors. Your apps should remember the locations of all dialog boxes, windows, and panels and not arbitrarily show up in random places.
    Second, and more importantly, there is NO reason for this dialog box to appear at all.
    If I select multiple files in an InDesign book panel, then choose Export Book to PDF, the dialog box appears for the duration of the export.
    But if I simply open a file and chose File > Export, the export happens as a background task as it should, allowing me to continue working on other files in InDesign.
    Why isn't background exporting the default? At the very least, please make it an Adobe PDF Preset option? 
    BTW, I'm using the latest version of InDesign (18.5), but this problem has always been present in all versions over the past decade.

13. Missing font is not displayed as missing

    When opening the file in InDesign (tested in ID17, ID18.5 and ID 19 Beta) the font is not reported as missing.
    Nor does it appear as missing under "find/replace font...".
    However, it is highlighted in pink; so ID notices that the font is missing.

    My expectation is that the missing font will also show up as missing in "Find/Replace font...".

14. one click font size changer in whole file.

    During translation, the text expands too much, and we have to reduce the font size to fit the text. But if it is a booklet we have to keep consistency throughout the file. Therefore if I reduce the font size in the heading will need to check and reduce the font size in the body text as well. It is time-consuming if the document is not set properly with styles.

    Let's say I need to reduce font size by 1pt throughout the document. and I have multiple variations in sizes like the Heading 20pt, subheading 18, body size 12 pt etc.

    Then I'll prompt "reduce the font size by 1pt globally throughout the file". it should be done.

15. Adobe InDesign 18.5 missing Fonts

    Missing Fonts in Adobe InDesign 18.5.

    Hello,
    Our Corporate Font is always missing in Adobe Indesign 18.5. Our IT checked the Font istallation, Libraray Font Cache ... and we got the Info, it is only an Adobe InDesign problem. Cause the corporate Font is in Adobe Illustrator or Photoshop available.

    The complete Grafik Team has installed otf and ttf Fonts. (And no we don't use Postscript Typ 1 Fonts.) 😉

    Our Typedesigner tested the Font, everything is ok.
    We are using InDesign 18.5 on Mac Ventura 13.5. Deinstalling and install InDesign 18.5 new didn't solve the Problem. The complete Font-Family is not available in InDesign.

    Could you please fix that Bug, otherwhise we can't produce or adverticements and commercial materials in InDesign, cause or corporate Font is not avialable in Adobe Fonts or other Font Stores.

17. Error on Save : "Indesign is unable to save this file. We tried, but appears to be damaged."

    Just started happening with v18.5. And only with very specific files? Have a fairly simple file that I drop PDFs into. If the PDF's on the page that generates the thumbnail it'll fail. If you then resave over the same filename it'll save happily. Doesn't happen if you start from a new file, or from other more complicated files but is very replicable.

    Have tried clearing preferences.

18. Position de l'objet et filtre N/B

    Super !
    Mais il faudrait arriver à développer un outil qui arrive à gérer les plans des objets (arrière-plant et premier plant) un peu comme dans Word ou on a une aide à la position en 3D.
    Il serait bien aussi un outil qui puisse appliquer des filtres photo rapides comme en N/B.

19. System wide “Emoji & Symbols” panel is not working

    The “picker panels” of macOS and Windows are really nice to quickly get an emoji or special character. The keyboard shortcuts for both work system wide. Almost. It works in applications from Adobe on Windows but not on Mac. I do not understand why this is blocked.
