installed font missing InDesign 17.2 macOS 12.3 (Monterey) and macOS Catalina
Different clients have the same problem. Installed fonts on the system are not recognised by InDesign 17.2. Other Adobe applications recognise the font and it can be used in those applications. I can recreate the problem, my colleague not. After downgrading InDesign to version 17.01 everything works fine.
We've just released InDesign 17.2.1 version which addresses this issue.
Please update to this latest version using Creative Cloud Desktop application.
In case the fix does not work immediately for you, please try the following:
1) Quit InDesign.
2) Delete the following:
on Mac:
/Users/[yourname]/Library/Caches/Adobe InDesign
/Users/[yourname]/Library/Preferences/Adobe InDesign
on Win:
C:\Users\[yourname]\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\InDesign
C:\Users\[yourname]\AppData\Local\Adobe\InDesign
Relaunch InDesign & see if it works properly now.

Same problem here. Set up a publication last month and sent a sample layout to my client for approval. When I went to go ahead with continuation of the project, the chapter title font had disappeared and would not be "encouraged" to return. This is significant and means I must now find a suitable alternative and get client approval all over again.

I experienced the same exact problem. Version 17.0.1 has resolved the issue. Hopefully this bug is fixed soon as this has caused SIGNIFICANT problems with my team here at work. Our key fonts were not loading, caused a world of trouble, seems very unprofessional and unnecessary.

Same issue here on a brand-frakking-new install of InDesign on a brand-frakking-new maxed out MacBook Pro M1, 7-April-2022. Tearing my hair out at 9:30 am on a Thursday is not my idea of a good workday!!!

I'm using Indesign CC 17.2, iMac 2020 - Mac OS Big Sur 11.6.
I have 2 files that use the same Font but one file doesn't recognize and the other gets it.
I tried to copy Document Fonts to the Indesign file which was not recognized but it didn't work. Event I un-install Indesign / Fonts many times.
I copied the other which was recognized but automatically it changed to "was not recognized" (What...!!!)
From the beginning everything is good and nothing happened.... until this crazy on!
UPDATED: downgrade to 17.0 and problem is solved

Adobe InDesign 17.2 / MacBook Pro M1 OSX 12.3.1 / FontXplorerX 7.3.0
When installing the appropriate plugins for auto-activation the fonts are not adequately activated and it takes a very long time to com to the error-popup.
When I uninstall the plugin and activate fonts manually (with FontXplorere) it all works as expected.
Please do not mention the Postscript type 1 fonts; I am aware of that issue. -

This is also happening to me on Windows 10 Enterprise 64-bit. Reverting to 17.1 did not solve the issue, but 17.01 did. I've been told Adobe is able to replicate the issue, so it's just a matter of upvoting this. Also, if possible, sharing the download link to the fonts which are not showing up in InDesign.

Same issue. One font we use is only showing the Italic version in InDesign 17.2 and other Adobe 2022 apps show all the variations just fine.
The font also works perfectly in InDesign 16.x, no problems accessing all the different weights and versions there. -

I've got the same issue, with a different font however. Font is an OpenType font and InDesign 17.2 only shows the Italic variant of the font, whereas InDesign 16.x shows all the variants in the family. Other 2022 apps (e.g. Illustrator) also show all of the different options..

In my case it was the font FF Marselis Slab family that wasn't working. Although there may be a lot more fonts that may have the same problem.

I had to downgrade InDesign to version 17.0.1. -
