[ID-4222284]Different views when switching between preview and normal mode
Strange behavior. I recently switched between preview and normal mode and InDesign showed me an older version of the document.
Most recent MacOS and InDesign Version.

This workaround works, but only when I notice the problem. If I don't switch between preview and normal view, I don't see the problem, but later the result is wrong.
A patch, like for version 15, 14 and 13, would be better. -

Still a HUGE issue. Now I don't know what I've edited and what I've changed!!!!!
Posted a video to show that it's still happening in Indesign 2021.

In InDesign 2021 16.0.1 switching between normal and preview display modes doesn't show recent changes. For example, I added two text boxes and changed fonts in normal mode but then when I switch to preview it still shows the old layout just without the blue bounding boxes, etc. Please fix this as I toggle between the two views a lot when designing.

@Sanyam – Have you checked out the other bug reports on the same problem I provided links for? There's plenty of documentation there…
The bug is not limited to certain documents, it occurs in both simple and complex files. The first report on this bug was submitted three years ago – it took two whole years before anyone responded!
Please, please, please prioritise it now! -

Still present in the latest version (15.1.2). Please see attached video. Adobe, what are you doing ?

The bug is still present in the latest version (15.1.1). This kind of bug is absolutely unacceptable. As Filip Blazek said, Adobe, could you please start fixing VERY OLD BUGS instead of adding half baked new features? I don't care about buggy new features if the old ones don't work properly. InDesign is turning into a bag of unsolved bugs and this error notification forum is becoming more and more irrelevant…

I confirm this VERY ANNOYING BUG is still present in InDesign 15.0.3. Adobe, could you please start fixing VERY OLD BUGS instead of adding half baked new features? InDesign CC2020 is so far the worst version I had to work with. Fortunately for my daily work I can still use CS6.

The bug is still present in the latest version (15.0.2). Please solve this ASAP because it is really annoying. Most of the time this bug could induce errors in the final layout. As a consequence, I have to double attention on the editing process to avoid dramatic consequences which slows the productivity down. As a result, the confidence in the reliability of InDesign is seriously damaged.

I can also confirm this serious bug.
I have been trying to recreate it. But it just occasionally pops up. So I can’t provide any accurate parameters as to when it occurs.
So far it hasn’t happened in documents with less than 10 pages and it has only happened in documents where I imported Word documents. Thing is: Most of my InDesign files that are more than 10 pages have Word documents imported. So that’s of little help.
Has this bug occurred for anyone here in a document with fewer pages or in a document without any imported Word files?

Update! I thought the edits always were displayed correctly in Normal view, but discovered just now that an old version of the text was displayed in both Normal and Preview mode, and I sent a pdf to my client full of orphans and widows!. Had to restart InDesign to get everything displayed correctly.
Please Adobe, prioritize this bug!

This serious bug is present on both 2019 and 2020 versions, it's shocking that Adobe haven't solved it yet. I concurr with previous posters, some bugs are merely inconvenient, but this one is really dangerous. I had a very long and stressful night when I first encountered it, making me unsure of every correction I had made the last couple of days. Luckily, nothing is really lost, it seems the bug is just screen view problem.
I've found that if you type a character and delete it again in preview mode, the correct view pops back again. -

It happens too often, almost every time I'm working on a textbook layout. As a clue, I can tell I'm working a lot with imported Word documents as, I suppose, most of us. Please solve this really annoying bug unworthy of a professionnal design and layout editor. Contact me if you want some details.

Again, this is a really dangerous bug because it could let you think the layout is allright whereas it is not. I'm loosing confidence in working with InDesign because of the proliferation of these kind of dangerous bugs lately. Look at the video attached to make yourself an idea of what I'm talking to. The preview is absolutely WRONG !
Please solve this sooner than later... -

It happens to me too from time to time. This is a dangerous bug as it could make the user believe that his document is layed out in a wrong way. I lost time several times trying to edit pages that were not as they were displayed. From a professional program, that is really not serious because this is a huge bug.

I can confirm that this happend to me too - but not very often.
InDesign in general has quite a few "updating" problems - especially when having multiple textframes inside each other that change dimensions due to text changes..What usually works for me is pressing "**** + F5" to refresh the view or edit a line / place a linebreak and remove it in the broken view. - But it's still a bug.. yep
