InDesign performance issue: Text disappears while editing
When editing a text box, the text disappears.
I have to switch the display mode (Overview > Normal or Normal > Overview) to make the text appear again.
This bug occurs frequently (10~20 times a day) but I did not identify what is the trigger.

I've just installed the new prerelease build (17.7) but the problem is not fixed. Text still disappears while I'm typing. I've tried it with GPU enabled and disabled. This is on an M1 Mac Mini running macOS Monterey 12.1.

Glad I found out that I'm not alone. This is a very frustrating issue. Is there anyway it can be fixed soon?
I googled this problem and came to this page. This has been happening to me on my new iMac OS BigSur, it is a constant problem and doubles the amount of time I spend editing text. It is horrible. I have to adjust the text frame every time to get the text back. What is the problem Adobe, when will you get this fixed??
Laurie Ruhlin commented
this happens to me constantly. 5 to 6 times each minute as I edit text. Mac M1 Mini, Big sur, InD 2022, every time I edit text in a text frame, the text, usually the entire block above and below the line I'm on will disappear. I have to move the frame up and down one point to get the text to come back. Then I edit more text, same thing, have to switch to selection tool, move text box or zoom in and out to fix the next word. I DOUBLE the time that it takes to edit text.

Whiteout = loss of text in the frame, momentarily. Constantly upon editing. Scroll up or down and the text immediately repopulates.... type very slowly -- like trying to avoid waking the beast -- and the text lasts longer before glitch... This is a very crummy situation. Adobe, whatsup?
This is still happening to me. Happened on M1 Mini and now on M1 iMac. Very annoying. Have to refuse jobs.

This is also happening on my mac pro- can't use the program it's so bad.
Latest prerelease 126.96.36.199 says this bug has been squashed:
[macOS Only] Text sometimes disappears while typing/editing
Not for me it hasn't!
Same story here on my M1 macbook pro in Jan 2022 and latest version of Indesign. Please get this fixed its so very annoying!

I'm having this issue also. In previous versions on Intell mac I didn't have an issue but with M1 it is a problem. Please fix this. This is so annoying, and it is getting worse actually.

This seems to still be happening in the InDesign 2022 version. Any suggestions?

Have version 16.1 and problem still exists on Mac OSX Big Sur M1 processor. Macbook Pro
Please fix this bug.
Why is this issue "fixed" When I activate Overprint Preview?
I prefer not to work in this mode, but have to until it's solved.

On 17.0.1 on an M1 Macbook Air and this issue has actually gotten worse since the last update. Please fix the issue of text disappearing.
Bug still present in pre-release ID 2022 Mainline_x188.8.131.52.
Anyone else who can please download the pre-release and if the bug is present follow this link to post a bug report: https://forums.adobeprerelease.com/indesign/discussion/2030/indesign-and-incopy-2022-17-1-0-28-builds-are-now-available-to-download
If more of us do this Adobe might finally recognise that this serious bug actually exists.

Even with the new update this is still not working!
Unfortunately the font cache solution didn't work.
Text still disappears randomly.
I cannot believe that Adobe can't reproduce this issue on an M1 Mac and find a fix.
Please, Adobe, fix this... How am I supposed to work on documents that are over 80 pages long like this? Every edit, every change the text disappears... This needs to be solved! Please. You can do it!

Well, I am in the exact same position as many others here : Macbook Air M1 Monterey and my texts glitch as **** every time I edit them. I am a professional, I need to have reliable programs to earn my life and I swear I am just one finger from deleting my Adobe account to go and see if grass is greener somewhere on the other side.
Please fix it like today.
