Problem with changing the cursor to text
Hello. After running the latest version of InDesign CC 2019 v. 14.0, I have a problem with changing the cursor to text. It takes about 50 seconds. This happens each time you launch InDesign.
Hello All,
Thank you for your patience all this while.
This issue is now fixed in the latest update (Id 14.0.1) of InDesign CC.
If you are unable to see the update notification yet, open the menu (three dots) from the top-right of Creative Cloud desktop application and click on ‘Check For App Updates’.
Once the update button is shown against InDesign CC, click on the button to update your InDesign to Id 14.0.1 for the fix of the issue.
Do let us know in the comments, if you face any problem with the new update.
List of fixed issues can be found at: helpx.adobe.com/indesign/kb/fixed-issues.html
Regards,
InDesign Team

Same issue - only on one machine though - 10 seconds delay for any type to appear.
Other machine is quick to type except first letter must be typed twice in any new text box.
checked task monitor and the machine itself is pretty much at idle the problem is within indesign itself
Seems font related?
Both machines running Win 7 -

One suggested workaround has been turning off Control Panel. I can report this is not a fix. It worked fine for a while then the problem started again. The problem seems intermittent, like something suddenly kicks in and sucks all the juice out of InDesign. A distinctive feature is when selecting a large block of text the cursor will suddenly freeze part way through the selection.

After this 2019 update, InDesign stalls after startup and on the use of first tool of the session. 30-60 seconds of lag. No indication of "processing." Just no response - like it is loading that first tool. After, all tool work fine and workflow is normal. New document, no problem. Happens with all FIRST-use sessions, first program load of the day, not every document.

so, the build fixed the issue....BUT, when my IND updated automatically a few days ago, the issue is happening again (like you said, "this will be installed as an update to the CC 2019 installed on your machine")

Updated to the latest version. Made reset shift+ctrl+alt. There was no problem when you first started. On subsequent runs, the problem was repeated. Made changes in the settings of InDesign. Rearranged the palette, the problem became more. OS Windows 10, Russian language. InDesign-language Russian.

The newer build has not fixed the bug. InDesign still hangs a while after selecting the text tool.

Installed the latest beta build (14.0.1.209) The issue with clicking into a text box and ID freezing has been resolved. It is working correctly. I have Control Panel open, am not using the Properties Palette. I have opened and edited several documents in a row without issue.

I work for a company and I'm not able to install anything for Adobe that isn't pushed through a Creative Cloud update. Do you plan to update InDesign through the Creative Cloud portal?

A quick question : what will happen when an official update to Indesign 14 comes out ? ...as the Creative Cloud App seams to think that Indesign is not installed.

Bas - what's your internet connection like? I haven't tried the new build out at home yet - just at work where we've got this fat pipe. I'm wondering - given that it seems to be to do with loading the fonts.adobe.com fonts (or authenticating before loading them maybe - I can't imagine they're actually pulling down the font files every time InDesign loads) - whether it's bandwidth determined...

My whole team are having this issue - we are all on Windows 10 and InDesign 14.0.
The Type and Character palettes are both affected, and sometimes the style palettes too. With the Character palette in particular this seems to have something to do with the way that the Typekit fonts are now included in the diaglogue rather than being a link to the Typekit website. It's so bad that we are having to force quite InDesign. Please can we have a fix ASAP! Thanks.

14.0.1.209 looks like it fixes the bug for me (Windows 10 x64 1803, i7-6700 32GB RAM GTX 1060, 250mbit/s dedicated line).
Typing's not super responsive/smooth (way worse than this web input field, for instance) - as there's a bit lag there which will make it less than a delight for the editorial staff to write straight into InDesign, but it's manageable.

That happens when you have the "control" panel on, as soon you disable the control panel from the window Menu, it works. Problem is, that we need the control up there. Its a bug!
