[ID-4254090]Drag-duplicating an object with Alt key pressed does not duplicate, if moving on a separate page
If I try to duplicate an object to another page, across the pasteboard border, by holding the Alt key and dragging with mouse, the object only moves there. If I want to duplicate an object to another page, I have to first duplicate it on the same page and then move it to another page.
However, as that is unintuitive, I still constantly try to duplicate an object across the page border, leading me to undo back after I find out the object didn't actually duplicate, but instead I have moved the original object (and oftentimes edited it a lot already).
As I find no particular reason why the duplicate shouldn't work across two pages, I believe this is a bug, or at least an oversight.

Alt+Shift was working fine before the upgrade, now (after v 15.0 upgrade) this feature only works intermittently. Not a happy camper right now.

I am using Indesign 15.0 and my alt drag isn't working. I'm on a mac. Any ideas, it's driving me nuts.

Seems like this issue is back in latest update of Indesign 2020

Holding ALT + dragging an object in InDesign 15.0 on MacOs Mojave 10.14.6 still not working! Why?

I updated to InDesign 2020 (v15.0) and the shift+option drag to duplicate is now not working.

InDesign CC 2020 (15.0 Mainline CL #1059441) still can't achieve this task properly. The page I try to duplicate with the alt key only moves to the place where I release my mouse click. I am downloading the latest build (13 days ago...) to check any changes on this.

Bastian S. you are right. I meant SPREADS... It works fine between pages.

I take that back.. it also does not work for me when the pages are on a different spread.
So from left to right page works great - from one spread to another does not.
Screen recording attached.

Tested on: Indesign 14.0.2 on macOS 10.13.6 (High Sierra)
Working fine - tried copying / dragging several objects and groups between pages. -

Even the cursor changes to "normal" drag, as if this option was disabled. InDesign version 14.0.2 macOS Mojave 10.14.5

The same thing is happening to me with Adobe illustrator 2019. Has this been resolved?

Please disregard my previous post. A simple computer restart fixed the issue. Thanks

This problem started today. I'm not able to update my iMac 1TB Fusion drive because the high Sierra update crashed my computer. I got it fixed a couple months ago, but I don't want to try and update it again fearing it might crash again. I've re installed Indesign and the problem still persists.

True, it works if I remember to press the Alt first and then drag. It's hard to remember, though, that when duplicating across pages that you must first press Alt, and then drag.

Forgot to add: InDesign CC 13.1 on Windows 10 version 1709. But this feature has existed for many, many years already.

Only happens in InDesign, clean install on clean install of MacOS - and appears fixed after applying MacOS 10.13.1 update... Will report back if it recurs.
