[ID-4254090]Drag-duplicating an object with Alt key pressed does not duplicate, if moving on a separate page
If I try to duplicate an object to another page, across the pasteboard border, by holding the Alt key and dragging with mouse, the object only moves there. If I want to duplicate an object to another page, I have to first duplicate it on the same page and then move it to another page.
However, as that is unintuitive, I still constantly try to duplicate an object across the page border, leading me to undo back after I find out the object didn't actually duplicate, but instead I have moved the original object (and oftentimes edited it a lot already).
As I find no particular reason why the duplicate shouldn't work across two pages, I believe this is a bug, or at least an oversight.

Alt+Drag page does not duplicate page. As simple as that, needs fixing.

Dragging several pages of a document with the ALT-key does not duplicate the pages where I drag them, it moves them (without copy). It only works with one page or when I drag them at the end of the document. You should be able to duplicate several pages between other pages with the ALT-key.

The way ALT has to be pressed BEFORE I select an object is totally nuts. Sorry. It used to work perfectly for decades, and it still works perfectly in any other application, even in Adobe apps like Illustrator, XD oder Photoshop. Why have you changed this intuitive behaviour to the bad? Years ago Adobe continously pointed out that all apps would work together seamlessly. Well, this lousy bug forces me to handle the exact same thing in InDesign in another way than in any other Adobe app. Really annoying.

Ive been using Adobe products for DECADES and these basic functions have seemed to be relatively the same across apps. now nothing works... PLEASE FIX THIS I cant even explain how much time Im wasting just trying to navigate and get things done. Like learning a new app, this is a HUGE fail.
If you want to get fancy and change stuff, give us a "Use Legacy Control" option.

So after using Indesign for 20+ years you now have to press ALT first - absolute rubbish!

Hi
Mines just stopped working, running 15.02 on Mac. Other things done work, like when you move and hold shift to keep things in a line, that doesnt work, yet, quick keys to say copy and paste still work. It seems anything that works along with the mouse, isn't work.
Thanks
John

I agree that having to press Alt BEFORE selecting the object is totally counterintuitive. PLEASE change back to the way it was ie: you can press Alt at any time while dragging an object.
I'm here on this forum precisely because I just had this problem for the umteenth time, losing time having to step back and do the duplicate an object the new way. What a waste of time!!!!!!! -

As others have already stated, having to press Alt BEFORE selecting the object is a total pain and backwards step after years of being able to press ALT at anytime to create a duplicate. Again like others I'm constantly having to go back as I've lost graphics that I've tried to duplicate and instead ended up moving them. Please change it back to how it's always been.

Addressing below comment, "I have an issue also with copying objects with the Alt key, in the new version you have to press ALT before you select the object!" Should select object at any time, push option and then duplicate it!!!
That must be a BUG, why would you change that functionality after people have worked exactly the same way in this program for many years.
Again, Adobe, please fix this problem and restore proper functionality. This hampers our productivity!

I have an issue also with copying objects with the Alt key, in the new version you have to press ALT before you select the object! In older versions, you could press it anytime and it would copy. Like above I have assumed I've copied, updated graphics only to have to multiple undo to get the original back. Is this a bug?

Not working for me either, hasn't for a while, seems in some updates it works, but in other updates it reverts to just dropping the copied pages at the end of the document, which when you have 300 pages is not really functional
