1. Menu/panel bugs

   Indesign 2022 v17.4 (up to date with latest version)
   Upon opening indesign, resetting menus and preferences, restarting, etc. Issues have been ongoing for at least a week.

   Align menu items are offset so that the ones at the bottom can't be used.
   Paragraph and character menu fields are offset, can't be selected or edited and randomly cause indesign to crash and close completely when clicked.

2. Crash on Importing Large Word File

   InDesign v17.4
   macOS 12.6 Monterey
   Mac Studio (2022)

   InDesign is crashing on importing a large (859-page) Word .docx file. The document begins to import for a couple of seconds but then InDesign crashes and there is a 'may be damaged' warning on reopening the file.

   Attempts were made to import into a completely new document and multiple variations of import settings have been tried, as has resaving, duplicating and deleting comments and saving the Word file. Smart Text Reflow has also been turned off but this hasn't helped.

3. Pages navigation jumping two pages at a time

   I've got a strange bug on a 100 single pages document. Sometimes (twice this week) when I'm using the shortcut Fn-option-up/down arrow to jump to the next page, inDesign will jump 2 pages at a time.

   It will behave like this until I double click on a page in the pages panel.

   Weird and annoying, but not sure I can reproduce.

4. Cell object is null!

   I get the third merged cell as null. Why is that?

   Please to get the error First create new document and table 3 by 3 and merge and select cells like screenshot. Execute the script.

5. Adobe Indesign server doesn't indicate license issues

   An Indesign Server setup was no longer running properly. The soap client could no longer connect to the instances.

   However, the Windows Indesign server service was running. There were no errors in the Windows event viewer. Rebooting the service and server had no effect.

   Upon manual startup, errors were displayed stating that the license could not be verified. After opening Internet access, everything worked fine again.

   THIS SHOULD BE FIXED:
   - The Windows event viewer should show license errors
   - The Indesign server service should not be running if there are license issues. It should shutdown again. Why is the service still running if it doesn't work?

7. Script editor doesn't open when JSX menu is activated

   The menu Edit Script (from JSX file, under script palette) doesn't open the file in the script editor. Instead, the CC App pops-up which is very annoying and time consuming (InDesign 17.4).

8. Preview 'glitching' when changing fonts in text blocks

   Had this problem in 17.2 but still occurring even now I've upgraded to 17.3.
   Working on a Mac Mini macOS Monterey 12.5.1

   If I make any changes within a text block (weight, style or actual font) the selected text will 'glitch' and does not refresh properly when I'm choosing a font or different weight of the same font, causing issues with visibility and layout. It only corrects itself when I click off the text block, either onto the dashboard or another section of the design. This isn't ideal when I'm making design decisions as it impairs layout and aesthetics.

   This did not occur when I was working in 2021. Only since using 2022.

   Below screengrabs show:
   1. Text block with placeholder text (normal)
   2. A font change (text selection glitching when font has been changed).
   3. A font weight change (text selection glitching when font weight has been selected)

   Had this problem in 17.2 but still occurring even now I've upgraded to 17.3.

10. Source Sans issue

    Source Sans or INDD has changed from version 17.3 to 17.4. All of the type gets baseline shifted down when you create a new file or if you open up an existing INDD file with Source Sans. It all pushes down inside the text window.

    Either an INDD problem or Source Sans coding has changed. Please resolve--its our house typeface.

11. Relink all Instances

    New update does not allow you "Relink all Instances" if the link is broken.

    1. Excel sheet is placed / linked in file
    2. Excel sheet is updated
    3. Right click on broken link and select "Relink all Instances of [...]"
    4. Relink pop up window appears where it is "loading" file
    5. Window disappears but link is still broken and nothing is changed.

    Only happened after installing CC 17.4

13. Text glitch in paragraph following uneven 2 column text

    This is from InDesign version 17.3 but it's happened in earlier versions of InDesign CC. Text paragraph after an uneven 2-column list is overlapped onto a single line. Happens only when the right-hand column is longer than the left. This error was from a 500-page hardcover book where the author printed 100s of copies!

15. can't resize window on left or right edge

    Can not resize document window from left or right edge when document is maximized. Top, bottom and corner resizing works fine. If I resize from one of those first, all works well and left/right edges can be resized. If I then maximize the window again, left and right edge resize stops working.
    I've had this problem with CC 2021 and 2022.

16. Indesign - main navigation menu glitch

    When I hover my mouse over any of the main nav items (file or edit or layout etc.). and click the menu does not appear. When I click a second time it appears but does not allow me to browse down to select any items - them menu items disappear as soon as I move my mouse. This happens on tool menu items too such as the links window menu. It doesn't do it all the time, but say 1 in 4 times I open indesign. Super frustrating - any one else have this bug/ issue?

17. Indesign and Illustrator latest version unusable

    I’m very angry because the latest version of indesign (17.3) is virtually unusable. If I select an image or text box on a layout I get a spinning wheel for 10 - 15 seconds. If I try to move something - spinning wheel 10-15 seconds. Even Adobe Illustrator 26.4 behave this way.

    I downgraded to indesign 16.4.2 and Illustrator 25.4.6 because I cannot work this way. Previous versions did not behave this way on this same condition and computer.

    These are the comments to your workarounds:

    1. For many of the users the issue got fixed after updating InDesign to a newer version. NOTHING CHANGES.

    
2. For some, the issue got resolved after disabling a third-party application such as Suitecase fusion etc. NO THIRD-PARTY APPLICATIONS INSTALLED
.

    1. For few, the issue was intermittent and is no longer reproducible. INTERMITTENT, EVERY 5 MINUTES OCCURS
.

    2. For majority of the users, the underlying cause of the performance issue was identified to be related to span columns, cross-references, third party plugin etc. NO PLUGIN INSTALLED.

    iMac (Retina 5K, 27-inch, 2020), MacOS Big Sur 11.6.7, 64Gb RAM, 1 SSD drive 2 TB, AMD Radeon Pro 5700 8 GB.

    Please don't tell me to upgrade to Apple last OS, I don't want to do it.

18. Make GIFs great again

    • Allow a preview of a live GIF while designing - currently when it is placed into a deck it is static and only reviewable by publishing online.

    • Allow a choice of the GIF thumbnail that becomes the still image when an offline version is downloaded. Currently I'm at the mercy of whatever the very first frame is in the entire GIF sequence.

    • Better yet, make Adobe Reader able to play gifs so the 'offline' version doesn't have to be a compromise of the original intention.

20. Menu drop down

    My drop down menus do not work, they will open after double clicking and holding down on second click, but any secondary menus will not open. I'm using Mac OS Monterey 12.4, and InDesign 17.3.
