hyphenation not working properly in English
first, why can't I use a snipping file here? Neither .jpg or .png will work - your site denies these file types.
My hyphenation is really out of whack. If you look at the first line of text, it's crazy that it's wrapping the 1, for WW1 to the next line. If I add the No Break from the Character panel, it moves "World War" down to the second line.

Alt text missing on hyperlinks after "Export as Interactive PDF"
I work primarily in InDesign and create accessible PDFs. During the design stage, I always add the alt text when creating hyperlinks or adding images, and export it as an interactive PDF.
As we know, after updating beyond InDesign version 16.1, the hyperlink alt text will not appear on the Link tag, but instead, it appears on the "Link - OBJR" (aka "Annotation") tag within the Link tag.
I work on long reports that usually have hundreds of hyperlinks and this is a big and very time-consuming problem for me, so I reverted back to v 16.1.
I've been ignoring…

Stripped down workspace when opening document
- Using 17.1 x64 on a Windows 10 machine
- When InDesign is closed, if I double click on a file to open it, the program opens with a minimal workspace; no panels, no toolbar at the top of the screen, nothing. If I open the program first, and then open a file (either through the file menu, or by doubleclicking on the icon in File Explorer, the program opens with my correct workspace.
- Opening the program, no matter how I access it, should open with my selected workspace.
- It opens without any panels, toolbars or the option to change to a…

InDesign version 17.0.1: Captions generated in InDesign do not export with accessible tagging structure.
I'm trying to get my captions to tag properly when exporting to a PDF (for accessibility purposes). I used the caption functions in InDesign (Caption Setup and Generate Static Caption) to create captions for my images. I watched a tutorial that showed this process and the end result was text tagged as "Caption" and nested underneath the Figure/Image.
Unfortunately, when I export, the caption is tagged as regular paragraph text (<P>), and it is not nested with its associated image. Any tips on how to fix this? I'm trying to do things correctly on the InDesign side, so I won't…

Shared a document for review on the latest (17.2.1) version of InDesign and when coworkers tried to access it, it just spun and never loaded.

Opening (book) document of same name but different path overwrites existing open file
Finalizing a book with 15 chapters, each about 15 - 30 pages (total 505 pages in book). Have several different versions, in separate folders; all with same file names and book names. Recently discovered that some files in the "FINAL" folder had been overwritten with earlier versions.
Is is sporadic and I have not been able to fully duplicatie. Looks like if A/chapter1 is open and then B/chapter1 is opened, A/chapter1 is overwritten with the content from B/chapter1. Something also occurs that causes A/chapter1 to get flagged as "possibly damaged" when next opened.
I cannot tell if this occurs only…

Linked EPS appears with jagged/rough edges even on High Quality Display
I've never seen this before, but linked vector EPS files aren't previewing properly in InDesign. The edges are super jagged when they should be smooth lines.
3 votesPlease mention the version of InDesign you’re seeing this issue with.
Also, if you could share a couple of sample EPS files, it would be great. Please send these to sharewithID@adobe.com—

17.0.1 crashes adding links
Every time I try to add or change a link in the links panel, InDesign crashes.
I restart InDesign and it tells my my file might be damaged. Do I still want to open it.
I open it. All seems ok. Try to change a link again, and InDesign crashes.
This is so frustrating!!

Preflight bug for non-proportional scaling glyphs text
Still, I think it's either a bug with preflight or at least an unexpected behavior of the preflight function.
Preflight had an error with the first insertion point after the auto bullet; not with a specific character.
At least it says that the error is related to the bullet, but it is showing an insertion point only when I click to select the error on the page.FWIW: At least the individual information on the shown error is highly misleading.
Problem is described here and ID sample with the problem available at this address: https://community.adobe.com/t5/indesign-discussions/new-problem-with-non-proportional-scaling/m-p/12903503#M474837

User Interface half in English (default) and half in Russian
When I go to my drop-down menu one of them is in Russian.
The only issue I have found is with the dropdown under Type (English) > Text Variable (English) > Insert Veriable (Russian). Only in Russian on some documents I open, not all.
I updated my InDesign to v 17.21 today.

Fonts defined in existing Paragraph / Character Styles Missing after Creative Cloud font type change
VERSION: InDesign 2022 V 17.0.1
We activated the Museo Sans Rounded font via Creative Cloud and have used it in our documents since 2015. Until recently, the font activated by CC had a font type of OpenType Type 1. This font is still available on CC, but its font type appears to have changed to OpenType True Type.
Documents that used the OpenType Type 1 font in a Paragraph or Character style now show this font as missing. The missing font name now displays as Museo Sans Rounded (OTF) in Find / Replace fonts and Paragraph and Character Styles panels.…

InDesign 2022 mising table strokes after opening the idml file
After opening idml files in InDesign 2022 (v. 17.2) some table strokes are set to 0 pt while they should be stroked at 1 pt. There's no such issue with InDesign 2021 which opens the idml correct. Any ideas are welcomed.

Adobe InDesign 2022: Contents with multiple levels not in alphabetical order
https://www.dropbox.com/s/mn8kzgd4hwvma64/bug%20report%20docs.zip?dl=0
As you will see, "JED" is still the first alphabetized entry in the TOC.

Table of Contents problem on right-facing page on spread
I use two levels of ToC (Main and sub headings). On right-facing pages in a spread, the main heading (TOC-1) appears below the sub-headings (TOC-2) in the Table Of Contents.
Consider the two attached files. The page shown in Toc problem-1 is a right-facing page in the book. The Level 1 heading is "Audible Signals," and the three Level 2 subheads are "Train Whistle/Horn Signals, Train Buzzer Signals, and Tower Whistle/Horn signals. This SHOULD appear with Audible Signals as the top-level and the other three below it. On a LEFT FACING page it works correctly. On a right-facing page it…

Disable automatic sect-tags on PDF export
When exporting a tagged PDF, InDesign automatically creates Sect-Tags for each story. I would like to be able to disable this feature on export for the following reasons:
- As far as I know, they are of limited value for screen reader users. The content is usually already well structured by means of an appropriate heading structure.
- It is very difficult to integrate figures into a story in a semantically correct/meaningful way. When anchoring them in the text, they will be nested in p-tags, which is according to PDF/UA not correct semantically. Hence, I avoid creating stories and use the article…

Can't create snap to baseline style
I just paid for and downloaded ID 17.2.1 after using cs6 and need to meet a deadline for a four page newsletter. I can't seem to find any buttons whatsoever that allow me to create a body style with the text snapping to the baseline. My text is all over the shop. Did I just do a faulty download, or am I missing something? Where is the option for baseline snapping or not snapping?
1 voteAlign to Baseline Grid option is available in the Paragraph panel.
It is also available in the Paragraph Style dialog under the Indents and Spacing section - Align to Grid.
Hope you find this useful.

Here is a new bug in InDesign 2022
This bug didn't exist in InDesign 2019
Here isi it :
In OBJECT menu > Object's layers options :
The small window doesn't have scroll arrows anymore. They are very usefull to scroll the list screen per screen.
Now, ther is only a vertical scroll cursor and it isn't precise at all : impossible to use with a list of 40, 50 layers. The window should be resizable too please.
