InDesign Color Settings Are Overwritten by Other VersionsSummary:
InDesign is unable to maintain separate color settings for each version. Whenever a different version is activated, the color settings are forcibly overwritten by the last activated version.Steps to Reproduce:
Launch InDesign 2025 and set the color settings to “Preset A” (e.g., a print vendor’s recommended settings).
 Launch and activate InDesign 2024.
Without any warning, InDesign 2024 will adopt the same Preset A color settings.
This also occurs in the opposite direction: activating either version will overwrite the other’s previously configured color settings.Expected Behavior:
Like Photoshop and Illustrator, InDesign should maintain independent color settings for each version.… 33 votes

Hyphenation settings see note references as a characterHypenation settings consider a note reference as a character, so if you have a footnote callout at the end of a word and hyphenation settings are set to "before last 3" it will make 2-letter hyphenation. 19 votes

OR Operator with Anchors Behaves IncorrectlyInDesign GREP Bug Report: OR Operator with Anchors Behaves Incorrectly Summary
InDesign's GREP engine does not handle the OR operator (|) correctly when used with anchors (^ and $). This behavior differs significantly from standard regex engines and produces unexpected, inconsistent results.Problem Description
When using the OR operator with anchors in InDesign GREP, the anchors are interpreted with incorrect precedence, causing the pattern to behave differently than expected. This issue has been confirmed as a bug by Peter Kahrel, author of "GREP in InDesign."Test Cases and Results Test Case 1: ^ab|c

[ID-4257732]CMYK color specified in MathML does not match the set valueInDesign 20.0 (2025)
Windows /macOSWhen I apply a preset or a newly created CMYK swatch to MathML, the color does not match the value.
It appears to be CMYK via RGB color.Original text (Japanese):
 MathMLに対し、プリセットや新規作成したCMYKスウォッチを適用しても、その数値どおりのカラーになりません。
RGBカラーを経由してCMYKになっているように見えます。38 votesThank you for trying out the MathML feature in InDesign! The math objects created using this feature are placed as SVGs, and hence they exclusively support RGB colours. If you try to apply a non RGB colour (CMYK/LAB/HSV-based), then by design it is converted to RGB before it is applied to the math object. This conversion is designed to enable users to continue using document colours that are not RGB-based for the math object SVGs.

Bugs fixHave you ever needed to urgently unpack a .tar.gz archive on a Mac, but found that the standard tools either don't work properly or require unnecessary steps via the terminal? I recently encountered this very problem — and wondered why such a simple operation still causes difficulties even for experienced macOS users. Perhaps there are more convenient solutions that allow you to work with archives quickly, intuitively, and without the command line? I would like to find a utility that not only opens archives, but also allows you to manage files, connect cloud services or FTP in a single interface.… 1 vote

Save As, Export and import file locations not behaving after Mac OS Tahoe updatePreviously for many older versions of Indesign, Indesign will remember your document, PDF export and import locations. Save As would always take you to where your current document is, PDF export would take you to your last PDF export location for that particular document, and Import would take you to your last import location. Since upgrading to Mac OS Tahoe - all of this has gone haywire. Save As will sometimes take me to the last location of the PDF export, PDF export will sometimes take me to where the document is located. And import is the same. I am… 2 votes

When copying text between InDesign documents, the Word order changesWhen copying text between InDesign documents, the Word order changes I have a textlbox with this content: "22. DEZ - 03. JAN Weihnachtsferien Ende"I copy this block of text to the clipboard. Then I switch to another InDesign document and paste the text from the clipboard into it. In the target document, however, InDesign changes the order of the text components into a completely meaningless sequence "JAN Weihnachtsferien Ende .03 - DEZ .22"I made another attempt with this text: "Eins 6 Zwei 5 Drei 4 Vier 3 Fünf 2 Sechs 1"In the target document, InDesign turns it… 2 votes

Subject: Why Did You Break the Zoom Tool in InDesign?Subject: Why Did You Break the Zoom Tool in InDesign? Dear Adobe Team, Can someone please explain why the Command + Space + drag-to-zoom behavior in InDesign was altered? This used to be a seamless, intuitive part of the workflow — one of those tiny things that made a big difference for power users. Now, depending on the version or OS, it either doesn’t work, lags, or flat-out refuses to cooperate unless I perform keyboard yoga. This is not an improvement. This is disruption disguised as innovation. I’m not asking for a new feature. I’m asking you to restore a… 3 votes

URGENT: Add an "Empty Output" Option for Text VariablesCurrently, InDesign text variables (e.g., Running Headers) always display the last non-empty value when the source is empty. While this behavior can be useful in some workflows, it causes major problems in others. In publishing and educational workflows, having an “empty” variable output display the previous value is unacceptable. We urgently need a way to explicitly tell InDesign: “If the source is empty, display nothing (truly empty).” Proposed Solutions:
 - Introduce a new special character (e.g., “Null Variable Marker”) that, when placed in the source text, forces the variable to render as empty.
 - Alternatively, provide an option in the…1 vote

Character style applied to Table of Contents headerWhen creating a book's table of contents (TOC), if you apply a character style to the first chapter, that style is applied to the TOC entry but it's also wrongly applied to the TOC header as well. It seems to be taking whatever character style that's applied to the first letter in the first chapter. I have a sample file I can send.
Tested in InDesign 2024 and 2022 for Mac.

variable fontsIn a TrueType based variable font, if some nodes have implied deltas at the edge of outline, that edge can jump around as seen in the attached video. The right stem of the "n" should stay on the baseline. And it does in all other environment that I tested (Illustrator, Photoshop, Chrome, Safari …). I tried to attach the font but get an error that .ttf and .zip files are not allowed. Here is a link to the file in dropbox: https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/69ynar0ds0k44fhsuge2j/ImpliedDeltasVF.ttf?rlkey=zccl17cd67ru4oat5qlt2eb99&st=c469cifb&dl=0 3 votes

Find/Change | Glyph | Failure to find characters with applied character stylesVersion: Adobe InDesign 19.5.4 and 20.3.1 I cannot post a .zip here apparently, so I've put my InDesign file. Steps to reproduce:
 1. Make a character style that ONLY sets the font to bold.
 2. put down a glyph twice, I used the AE glyph (GID/CID 138).
 3. For one, apply bold manually.
 4. For the other, apply the bold character style.
 5. Open the Find/Change Glyph menu and enter the GID/CID used, along with the font and bold style.Expected Result:
Both of the glyphs would be foundActual Result:
Only the glyph without the character style applied will…2 votes

stroke window - drop down menu optionsIndesign 20.5
In the stroke window there is functionality issue in the drop down menus - 'type' and 'start/end' for arrows etc. The drop down menu does not stay open to select an option. Very annoying and can't add arrows to lines. Also noticing the issue is in the toolbar as well for strokes.1 vote
