Option-drag distance not remembered correctly when duplicating command-D
Title says it, when I usually duplicate an object using option key and after that type Command-D the object was typically duplicated with the same distance. Not anymore…

InDesign 2026 application window automatically snapping to screen width
I like to stretch the InDesign application window partially onto my second monitor but since updating to 2026 it keeps snapping back to the edges of a single monitor.
It seems that if you pull two edges of the app frame away from the edge of the screen (left and bottom, for instance) it doesn't happen. But as soon as one of the edges goes back up against the edge of the monitor it resizes the width.
There is also strangeness when trying to use "normal" windows functions like the clicking the control menu (top left corner of the app…

Numbering
If the numbering didn't start on the first page of the file, but on a specific page (determined by the user), it would be a very significant improvement.
I'd like this configuration to be more flexible and usable for the user, allowing us to modify the configuration (numbering start page, the numbering progression and other features).1 vote -
Font Selector Broken
When I select a font in indesign 2024 (select drop down, start to type name of font "script", select font ) it works fine
When I attempt the same in indesign 2026 (select drop down, start to type name of font "script", system shows me fonts beginning with the second or third letter I typed, e.g. "Cricket")

Interactive contextual menu no longer works properly
Since the latest version 21.0.1, the option enabling the creation of an hyperlink in Interactive menu has disappeared y/or no longer works properly.

2-9% CPU usage when application is in background/minimized - happens on multiple computers
2-9% CPU usage when application is in background/minimized. This happens on multiple computers. Older machines have seen up to 30% in IDLE. My newer PC runs 2-3% even with only one document open.
This is unsustainable both for PC resource use, energy efficiency, and usability.
There is no GOOD reason for this.
It has been an issue for multiple years now. Please fix!

Alert: "Incompatible file detected. Please choose a valid file to proceed" for scenarios when User Settings can not be imported
When I try to export user settings from GA, Beta or Pre-release and import into any of the others I get the error
'Incompatible file detected. Please choose a valid file to proceed.’
The current pre-release cannot even import a settings file from 6 months ago

Unable to Stretch InDesign Across Two Monitors After Update
Environment:
OS: Windows (PC)
InDesign Version: 21.0 x64
Hardware: Dual-monitor setupIssue:
After the latest major update, InDesign no longer supports spanning the application window across two monitors. When attempting to resize the window to cover both screens, the UI automatically snaps back to a single-monitor configuration.
Expected Behavior:
The application should allow the window to extend across multiple monitors, as was possible in previous versions.
Observed Behavior:InDesign reverts to one monitor when stretched across two.
Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop continue to support multi-monitor spanning without issue.Question:

Indesign-Dateien die älter als 2 Jahre sind lassen sich nicht direkt von einem externen Firmen-Server öffnen. Sie müssen immer erst vom Firmen-Server auf die lokale Festplatte kopiert werden, von dort geöffnet und dann auf dem Firmen-Server überspeichert werden. Ein nerviger Workaround.

Data Merge panel doesn't import UTF-8 data when selecting "UTF-8" encoding option
I’m using Adobe InDesign v. 20.5.0.48 on the macOS v. 15.6.1. I have a “merge.csv” data file encoded in UTF-8 that imports into the Data Merge panel when I select “ASCII” as the encoding but, unsurprisingly, doesn’t display some special characters correctly. When I select “UTF-8” as the encoding option, which should remedy this problem, the file fails to import!

Unable to select multiple objects
Yesterday InDesign 21.0 was forced upon me and it is nothing but issues.
This very annoying issue is that I can't select multiple objects. I click one, I hold shift to select another one - and it deselects the first one. I have tried every possible combination of keys, and multiple restarts. I can only select multiple objects by dragging across them, which does not work for all layouts, or by using CMD-A.1 voteHi,

Lag in 20.0 and higher
The lag in 20.0 and its updates is hard to stomach. We pay a lot for this app and it is VERY difficult to work with these issues. Evey time I click on something in a document - no matter how large a file - there is lag. Text boxes, images, color shapes/boxes. I have a brand new Mac Studio with Apple M2 Ultra and 128GB Memory - I have more than enough power to support your app. PLEASE FIX THIS ISSUE. Can't open or place files from Windows Explorer
Updated to most recent version of InDesign (Beta) and Photoshop (Beta), and still can't open files by double-clicking in Windows Explorer. I also cannot drag-and-drop files from Explorer to either Adobe program. If I have a document open in InDesign, I can't drag-and-drop to place. The ONLY way I can open files in either InDesign or Photoshop is to use Open from the file menu. This is VERY annoying and time consuming.

When waking from sleep, screen turns black or magenta
InDesign 20.5 (and previous versions). Apple Mac mini M1 2020, 16GB, Sequoia 15.6 (and previous iterations of the OS). Samsung UJ590 UHD Monitor.
Not the first time this has happened but as I’m on the latest version of ID now it’s becoming increasingly frustrating.
When waking from sleep, in GPU Preview, my entire screen is either black or magenta and I cannot see the components of my file. If I turn on Overprint Preview the assets can be seen. If I then switch back to GPU Preview, the screen changes back to black or magenta.

Preferences reset popup penalty
When an existing user has been driven by degrading performance to the extreme step of resetting user preferences, please do not also make us undergo the maddening experience of dealing with the ENDLESS blue popups / tooltips / ads for the features we've already seen and considered. You could make an argument for forcing a user to deal with the blue boxes on a major upgrade. A preferences reset is not the same situation. Please consider reducing the burden of this type of visual pollution in our workspaces.

leave User Workspaces ALONE
Leave User Workspaces ALONE!! Updates should automatically grab the current workspaces and copy them in, STOP trying to shove three versions of "essentials" down our throats. Not all of us have admin access, so deleting after every update isnt an option. It also stops non-admin users from migrating manually. To say this is frustrating would be an understatement.
"Essentials" is TRASH, but every **** update removes any custom ones I have (YES even if I choose migrate, it doesnt do anything so I stopped bothering) and force it into "Essentials". Just STOP. You DO NOT know our workspaces better than…

[ID-4265137] Can't override the keyboard shortcut (shift-e) for GPU preview
Go to Keyboard Shortcuts, to View > GPU Preview toggle and delete the Default context shift-e shortcut (as it's already used in my set for Reveal in Bridge). Save, works fine for that session, forgets next restart.

notes tool deactivates midway through typing note
Every time I try to add a new note, the window to type the note briefly activates, but midway through typing my note it deactivates and greys out, deselecting both the note and the whole text thread it is part of. To continue typing the note, I need to click back into the text frame and use the arrows to get to the previous or next note to reactivate it. Then it deactivates again a second or two later. Why is it doing this? I am using 20.4.1 x64.
