1. Nothing appears when i open up indesign

   When i boot up indesign. It starts up but there is nothing there. Just a blank screen. When I got to create a new document it doesn't work at all.

3. shift-click to deselect is not working

   Shift-click to deselect is not working: Drag to select multiple objects, then shift-click on one of them to deselect from the set, and it deselects ALL EXCEPT the one object you were intending to deselect! Just happened after updating to InD 20.4.1 MacOS.

4. Creative Suite apps are INSANELY slow

   All Creative Cloud programs are insanely slow and lagging. It's nearly impossible to use 2 or 3 of them at the same time, and I need to restart my computer every hour to even be able to do some very basic tasks. The problem is happening in all programs, Indesign, Illustrator, Acrobat Pro ertc.
   This is happening on ALL computers I used in past years, and everything was up to date. It's not about 3rd party add-ons or resetting preferences, or any advice you offer.
   Some weeks ago I killed off all Adobe/CC background processes and everything worked perfect until the next time I restarted the computer. I tried to re-do this, but it doesn't help any more, or I can't remember what exactly I did.
   Obviously - it's some unoptimized background process or service causing it.
   I can see on forums that many other users have the same problem.
   You should take this seriously and finally fix it up. This is causing lots of problems and time is being wasted for millions of your users.

5. [ID-4257731]No Redraws on Object Highlight

   Prerequisites

   • macOS version only
   • version 18 (2023) and later
   • Screen Mode: Normal
   • GPU Performance OFF (CPU Preview)

   This issue occurs 100% of the time under these conditions. Note that Overprint Preview forces CPU Preview, causing the issue even in Overprint Preview mode with GPU Performance ON. It persists across macOS versions and Intel/Apple Silicon platforms.

   Steps to Reproduce

   1. Prepare an InDesign document with multiple pages.
   2. Place any object on the page.
   3. Switch to the Text tool.
   4. Hover the mouse over the object (MouseEnter), without selecting it.
   5. Press the Cmd key while the mouse is over the object.
   6. The object is highlighted.
   7. Select the menu item "Layout > Next Page."

   The document should navigate to the next page, but it doesn't. Although the scrollbar or page panel indicates navigation, the display remains frozen without redrawing.

   Furthermore, even when the mouse is moved away from the object (MouseExit), the object remains highlighted and can be challenging to unhighlight.

   This feature, highlighting objects using "Text tool + Cmd key + MouseEnter," has been present in InDesign since its early versions. However, this issue surfaced in version 18 (2023) specifically when using CPU Preview, despite no problems in version 17 (2022).

   ---

   There are similar issues with other functions.

   Steps to Reproduce

   In addition to the prerequisites mentioned above, turn on "Highlight Object Under Selection Tool" in "Preferences > Interface." Then, highlight an object with the Selection Tool and press the keyboard shortcut for "Layout > Next Page" (shift+page down).

   The document should move to the next page, but it does not. Similarity to the above bug.

   "Highlight Object Under Selection Tool" is a feature introduced in CS5.5. Turning this off can prevent the issue from occurring.

   However, even when this is turned off, the object highlight with "Text Tool + Cmd Key + MouseEnter" does not turn off. It might be a completely separate function. To avoid confusion, I explained these two separately.

6. Persistent Cursor and Functionality Issues in Adobe InDesign After macOS Sequoia 15.1.1 Update

   Description of the Issue:

   I’m experiencing multiple issues with Adobe InDesign across different versions (including the latest and earlier releases) after updating to macOS Sequoia 15.1.1. These problems occur consistently across various files and significantly disrupt workflow.

   Issues encountered:

   Unable to apply colors from the swatch palette – clicking on a swatch does not work for either text or objects.
   Styles (both text and object) cannot be applied by clicking; I must use right-click and "Apply Style" instead.
   Frames on the page shift a few millimeters upon clicking, seemingly on their own.
   Stroke color for objects cannot be selected or modified.
   The selection tool lags and causes objects to move slightly to the left when selected.
   Fonts cannot be changed from the toolbar – clicking the dropdown does nothing.
   These issues are highly disruptive and make it impossible to work efficiently. No other changes have been made to my system aside from the macOS update, so I suspect it is the root cause of the problems.

   I would appreciate guidance on resolving these issues as soon as possible.

7. [macOS Sonoma]White Screen on drawing marquee/highlighting text in CPU and Overprint Preview modes

   Hi,

   Since I've updated my mac mini to Sonoma, when I use InDesign, the documents flash every time I click on it. If I click and hold, the screen become completely white. This is very annoying, almost impossible to work.

8. Bracket issues

   When copying a table from one indesign brochure to another new indesign document. The open and close brackets that were on the original table appears corrupted. The close bracket appears at the front of the word instead. Tried retyping it at the end of the word but keeps jumping to the front.

9. Cant move objects on second monitor

   Cant move objects on second monitor
   So i use a laptop usually and things are normally fine. however for some reason now all objects on my second monitor is not moveable. i can click on the object and when i attempt to move it theres a red circle icon. if i move the indesign window to my main screen everything is moveable and the problem only happens on the 2nd monitor. I've tried reseting preferences, nothing is locked.
   I am using the latest version of indesgn

10. Constantly forgetting Workspace setting

    InDesign 20.1, as well as pretty much every version since 2019 continually forget my WorkSpace setting, so that when I boot ID, it randomly thinks I'm new, and so it loads the annoying popups and product tours and the almost ubiquitous blue alert at the bottom helping me with saving my settings.

    Fix this.

11. Error on app start: files required for color management missing

    1. InDesign (Beta) 20.3 x64 (Mainline CI #4bdfb98)
    2. Start the app
    3. App should start without error message.

12. Error in cursor position when dragging items

    Hello, InDesign is not letting me move objects (or any items at all) correctly. As soon as I click and drag anything, the position drasticaly changes to about 50px upper-right. Beyond annoying, this is getting in the way of my work. Besides moving objects on the page, I can't drag and drop between layers, or reorder pages easily. It does not happen when selecting text or dragging to create new objects.

    Anyone know how to correct this? It started last week, out of the blue. I have read some similar issues on the forum, from Mac users, but I'm running on Windows 11, INDD version 19.5 x64. Have already restored the preferences, will try reinstalling the program.

13. InDesign Beta (ARM64) The application was unable to start correctly(0xc0000142).

    I'm using the new Surface Pro 11 (Snapdragon X Elite – ARM64). I installed Creative Cloud ARM64 and InDesign Beta via official channels.

    When I try to launch it, I get this error:

    I’ve tried:

    Adobe Cleaner Tool

    ARM64 Creative Cloud installer

    Visual C++ redistributables (x64 and ARM64)

    DISM & SFC

    Please help resolve this — it seems to be a bug in the current InDesign Beta ARM64 build.

14. Title: Restore Immediate Visibility of Resize Handles on Frame Selection Post

    In the latest InDesign updates, the resize handles (bounding box corners and sides) no longer appear immediately when selecting a text or graphic frame. They only show up after moving the cursor. This is a serious usability issue.

    Without visible handles, there's no clear feedback that the correct object has been selected—especially problematic when working with layered or overlapping elements. This change breaks long-standing workflow habits and slows down production.

    Please restore the previous behavior or at least add a preference toggle to always show resize handles immediately upon selection.

15. Text formatting is lost when copy and paste a text box on the same page or to another page in the same document

    Copy an paste text box, the text formatting is lost in the pasted text box. Reverts to Forte font. Also, cannot change the font in the pasted text box. The font reader will say it is the new chosen font, but the visual of the text is not reflecting the actual font chosen. Have to redraw and rewrite text every time to have the font and formatting desired.

16. Keyboard shortcuts not working

    My keyboard shortcuts frequently quit working. InDesign 2025. If I close the document and re-open it they start working again. Seems like a bug to me.

17. InDesign changes my page size

    Whenever I set up a new document, say 11" X 8.5", auto-select landscape of course applies itself, and I move past that point in the New Document dialog box, InDesign changes my set document specs to whatever was previously selected for the last document size. Why?

    I then have to go back into the page size settings after opening the new document and correct it.

18. pdf to indd conversion has no opt out

    The beta feature that allows InDesign to convert PDFs does not belong in the core application. I've accidentally clicked on a PDF once or twice when trying to open my INDD doc and it takes forever for this thing to do the unwanted conversion. The cancel button does not work. I suspect it's communicating with the cloud to perform this operation, so the question is: Why is it built into Indesign? Can it not be placed in Express or Creative Cloud or somewhere else where it doesn't disrupt a person's workflow?

    If a feature like this is going to be rolled out to all users of InDesign, regardless of their needs and wants, it should at least be easy to opt out. I'm not a UI expert, but my suggestion would be to add a menu item to the drop down in the Open dialog that lets users designate that only INDD files should be opened from there. That may not be the best suggestion, but the point is: always consider how annoying it can be to use software, and, when your designing new features, make sure you're not introducing another layer of annoyance to professionals who are just trying to get their work done.

19. InDesign 2025 / v20.0: »background task« tries to activate font all the time

    Working with the font Minion Pro InDesign 2025 wants to activate the font in the background (shown in the background tasks panel) although it IS activated.

    Closing the document does not bother InDesign. It still wants to activate the font (see screenshot 2).

    Quit & Restart helps, but it should work correctly without it.

20. History Window

    Using the hotkeys Command > Z to undo constantly brings up a tour of the History window. Don't want to use it or I would already and am really over it telling me to. Please how do I stop the prompt?
