Alternate Layouts lost, names missing and out of order
I've had a reoccuring issue of InDesign documents with multiple alternate layouts 'losing' their layout names and placements.
I've attached a screenshot of what my alternate layouts should look like, and then again what they now look like.
InDesign no longer sees it as an alternate layout.This seems to happen some time after working in a file, or re-opening a file.
No updates have been made to InDesign between closing and re-opening these files.I'm on MacOS Sequoia 15.6

[ID-4256710]InDesign 20.0 is unable to open INDD files without any error or alert
InDesign 20.0 can't open some files - they start to open and then the process is just somehow cancels and nothing happens. No error - you can try again but the files doesn't open.
I have macOS 15.1 on a 2.4GHz 8-core Intel Core i9 macBook Pro

We use a template for our papers with layout/margins & columns are changing
We set up our pages then drag the parent page onto the actual page. The parent pages are all 3 or 4 columns. When the parent page is on the actual page, checking Layout/Margins & Columns, now has 5 columns instead of its 3 or 4.
InDesign 2025, 20.5.0.48. Intel iMac 2019. Sequoia 15.5.

When I launching InDesign
Lately, when I launch InDesign, a dialog box immediately appears that reads: "You cannot reverse this change with the Edit>Unod command. Do you want to continue anyway?" (see screenshot) and you only have two choices: Cancel or OKAY. Being forced to choose OKAY, I'll open a Recent file of some sort, and the stupid dialog box follows me there as well, and sure enough, if I make a change and go to Command Z (I'm on a Mac), the Undo command is ignored and in fact Edit>Undo is greyed out in the menu bar. Smart Text Reflow next page - Add Pages Automatically
The Smart Text Reflow to the next page is not performed if there is an empty text frame on the page. Please use the sample file and perform the following steps:
- Assign ParagraphStyles 3 to the "paragraph 3" -> Paragraphs 3 and four go into the overset (undo action)
- Delete the text “paragraph 4,” not the text frame, assign ParagraphStyles 3 -> Paragraph three goes into the next page (undo action)
- Delete the text “paragraph 4” and also the text frame, assign ParagraphStyles 3 -> A new page is created, paragraph 3 begins on the new, next…1 vote -
Bug on page naming
In Indesign 25.0, on Mac,
Despite having named the pages with a letter (here, "C" in the screenshot) the pages are not correctly named.
Therefore, all my custom scripts that are using the special naming don't work anymore. Please, fix the bug.

Drag and drop of master pages between documents not working as expected
Indesign 20.5, Windows 11
Problem: it's possible to drag & drop a master page from one opened document to another opened document, but only if the documents are arranged side by side. For comparison: in Photoshop, if you want to copy a layer between documents, you can simply grab it, move the mouse pointer to the other document's tab, which would then switch to that document and then you drop. Not so with Indesign. In the same way of thinking it should be possible to drag & drop ID layers between documents, but this doesn't work at all.

Find/Replace doesn't jump to parent pages
ID version 20.5, Windows 11
Problem: when using the Find/Replace dialog, there is a switch to also search in parent pages. Usually, the find action would jump to the text it finds, but not to a parent page, at least not if the found text is in a locked text frame. But that's illogical. It could at least jump to that parent page. Whether it would mark the found text or not in the locked text frame, is discussable, but even that is no magic. Just mark the text, even if I, as user, cannot change it for the moment.1 vote -
Rulers units change from mm to point spontaneously
Very odd: my units of millimeters suddenly turn to points - without me even touching the rulers. Problem is that scripts I made, go haywire now that InDesign seems to go back to its native points? This must be a bug, as the scripts worked fine up till very recently. But it's not just in the scripts. When I look e.g. at corner options, all millimeters have been replaced by points as well.

Data merge not working for absolute paths on macOS
With the latest update of 19.4, image paths no longer work for merge documents. I installed the latest update, which went back to 19.3, and have had no issues; therefore, I have isolated the issue with the update. I currently usean Excell file with an image field and the path to the image associated with each record. I have not changed anything in the file but with the new update I get the error message indicating the file is missing.

Kindly update the data source file with the POSIX style path in Macintosh to work with data merge functionality smoothly. Please refer to the helpx https://helpx.adobe.com/in/indesign/using/data-merge.html to know more about the difference between HFS and Posix style paths.
You can get the actual POSIX path of a file by right-click it in the Finder while holding Option (or right-click, then press Option) > Copy as pathname menu. This can help you explore the correct POSIX paths to ensure you're using them correctly.
Note: Relative path as such /<foldername>/<filename> is no longer supported after the fix, as it considers the starting “/” as an absolute path. Instead, the recommendation is to omit the starting “/” and use <foldername>/<filename> instead or any of the other existing ways to access the…

Indesign Document Setup not holding height and width measurements typed in.
When typing in width and height into Document Setup it does not hold the measurements and reverts to last document opened measurements.

page layout panel not scolling
Pages Panel does not scroll to all pages in document, whether in horizontal or layout view. If panel is enlarged and the pages all fit, you can see them. If you shrink the pages to a smaller size (from jumbo to extra large) and they fit in the view panel, you can see them. But if it is a large document (more than 25 or so pages) you cannot scroll far enough to view pages past about 25 in extra large view.

[ID-4255870] Document Fonts available even if not active
Working on an indesign document that has its own “Document Fonts” folder that contains fonts specific to that document (not activated anywhere else), then switching to a new document that does not have any “Document Fonts” folder, the fonts of the previous document are still available, but if I close indesign completely and then reopen the new document the fonts are no longer available.
This is not correct, fonts that are not activated or not present in the “Document Fonts” folder specific to that document, should not be available for other documents that do not reside in the same folder.

New document size issues
When I create a new document in any Adobe program (mostly InDesign) and select what size I want to change it to (whether it be custom or a print size), the size reverts back to a previous size. I have to do this 3-5 times before I get the size I want. It has been like this on the last few updates. I'm currently on the latest InDesign version 20.0 2025. Facing-page layouts always have one un-editable page
If you set up facing master pages with a text frame on each, you can only set the text frame as "primary" on one of the pages. That means every other page you create from the master will be un-editable. This defeats much of the purpose of a master page, and provides no benefit.
The only semi-workaround is to connect the two frames, but this is not always acceptable. Sometimes it is necessary to keep the stories separate.

Adding pages before 1st page move placed images
Versions 20.1 and 20.2 if you try to insert pages before 1st page, it moves already placed images to another page.
