Export PDF doesn't allow "Two-up (Cover Page)" view
Using InDesign v16.1:
Export PDF preset "High Quality Print" or "Press Quality" viewing option layout for "Two-up (Cover Page)" is grayed out and unavailable. Though if exporting using preset "Smallest File Size" all options available for the PDF layout.
For book or brochure PDFs, "Two-up (Cover Page)" is the standard, and it used to be available for all export options.———a bug??3 votes -
Make Crop Marks always outside the Bleed
People who don't understand bleed (and they are out there) leave the Marks Offset setting on default, which causes problems when they send their files out for printing.
There is absolutely no situation or circumstance in which it is a good idea to have the Crop Marks inside the Bleed. Not one. Not Ever.
So why do we have to adjust the Marks Offset when we change the Bleed ? Why is it not even offered as an option in the Preferences to set this automatically ?
It's not just when exporting a PDF, but also when Printing, from InDesign,…

Two-page paragraph border
I have a picture and the caption on two differentes pages. I want to draw a line between them. So I use paragraph border. In InDesign, it is OK (see image Dans InDesign.jpg) but in the PDF, the line stops at the edge of the page (see Dans Acrobat.jpg). Somebody says me to generage the PDF with board option. It's a good idea but the printer refuses to use this file.

PDF Exporting to the Artifact Folder
Computer Info: MacBook Pro 13 inch, 2018, OS: Big Sur 11.5.2
Indesign Info: CC 16.3.2Lately, InDesign defaults all my exports to the "artifact" Folder on my computer (see screenshot). I don't know why. It seems like a bug. Even if in a session, I have already exported from the same file elsewhere or exported from a different file elsewhere, every time export it always defaults to that folder.
The only thing is because I run the files off the server. But, if that is the case it used to work and has recently stopped working. Please help.

Table PDF-tag
Please fix the pdf-export-tags for tables in Indesign as it can only be fixed in Acrobat and not in InDesign.

InDesign not exporting chunks of tags
Happening in multiple documents. Some of these documents were originally created by other people and some documents I have created from scratch.
Set up indd file for accessibility. Everything done correctly: all text boxes linked, all tags applied, articles created, articles have "Use for Tagging Order in Tagged PDF" checked. And yet, whole pages of the document are not tagged at all in the pdf.
I go over the said pages with a fine tooth comb and there is nothing I can see that would stop them from exporting tags. Only solution I've found is to recreate the text box…

When I export a document as pdf then I miss some elements when I open the pdf in Illustrator. The missing elements are in my case some with color gradients. This should fixed in a next update. I use InDesign 2021 (16.3) and AI 2021 (25.4.1)

Unknown character inserted before hyphen in PDF export
InDesign v16.1
We have an InDesign file where the word "papier" is hyphenised by InDesign in this way "pa-pier", but after exporting in PDF, an unknown character was inserted before the hyphen and is shown as the letter "u" overlapping a displaced hyphen. Copy/pasting the word from the PDF gives this: pa-pier
If the PDF is exported again, the problem is not reproduced.

Drop shadow in exported PDF is a different size
Certain drop shadows have a different size when they appear in an exported PDF.
In the attached example, the black shapes each have a drop shadow effect in yellow. When exported, the shadows appear shorter and narrower. The difference is approximately 20 pt narrower and 1 pt shorter. (Note the difference in proportion of the yellow drop shadow and black shape in the screenshots.) I've also included the drop shadow effect attributes.
This occurs with multiple PDF export settings including the default [High Quality Print]. I am able to reproduce this behavior in both InDesign versions 15.1.2 and 16.0.

Endnotes are tagged incorrectly when exporting to Accessible PDF from InDesign 2021
In InDesign 2021, endnotes are not nested inside of a <Note> tag like they should be. Now only the Endnote number is in a <Note> tag and everything else is in a <P> tag. Normal behavior is to put each Endnote in its entirety within a <Note> tag. In addition, for several versions Endnotes and Footnotes are in a <Note> tag but then there's a <P> tag within the <Note> tag. The <P> tag is unnecessary and causes an error when trying to validate Accessible PDF. Please remove the <P> tag within <Note> tags when exporting to tagged PDF.

CC2021: Alternate text for hyperlinks
I am reposting this from https://indesign.uservoice.com/forums/601180-adobe-indesign-bugs/suggestions/38972206-cc2020-alternate-text-for-hyperlinks
Because despite Adobe's claim it is STILL NOT FIXED IN 2021 16.2.1
"In CC2020 a new function for writing alternate text for links was introduced.
Using this function and generating a PDF Leeds to wrong PDF notation. The alt text in PDF is presented by alt text, which is forbidden in the PDF world, where alt text only should be used for non text elements, e.g. pictures. By presenting only the alt text the accessibility is lost – this is against the goal to hav a better output!A correct output would lead to…

InDesign is not correctly role mapping all paragraph styles to tags, when creating an accessible tagged interactive PDF
I am using InDesign 15.1.1 to create several accessible, tagged PDFs.
I have tagged every paragraph style correctly under the export tags for PDF (Edit all export tags > show: PDF), and I have left any list items and table of contents items with the default ‘Automatic’ tag.
I am exporting as an interactive PDF with ‘Create tagged PDF’ checked.
Then when viewing the PDF in Acrobat Pro DC, in the Tags pane I have selected ‘Apply role mapping to tags’. This should ensure that in the tags pane in Acrobat, all my original paragraph style names…16 votes
