New Pdf notes, needs a tool to move them out of of the way when working. and needs to stop zooming out when you click on the note text.
With PDF notes in indesign, the comment icon covers the spot that you need to make the changes. they need to be waaaay smaller or transparent or easy to move. and when you click on the comments to work out which comments are for what note icon, it zooms out rather than just panning to the icon. That would be fine, but when you have lots of stuff in the doc, indesign takes ages to zoom in and out.

Footnotes -- align to bottom of page
I have struggled for hours and searched everything I can find to learn if Adobe has EVER YET come up with a method to align footnotes to the exact bottom of a page or text frame. Mine ride a little high here, a little low there, depending on various things happening in the main text, so that I can't get a consistent align-to-bottom and always must deal with this. CONSIDER THIS. When inserting a footnote, automatically create a separate text frame that can then be manipulated -- its alignment set to bottom, for instance. Now, THAT seems a no-brainer and would be awesome! (If this has been mentioned, sorry I did not see, but thumbs up if others have thought of this. What a relief it would be to have this feature! How is it that Adobe has ignored this simple headache in favor of so many other "frill" improvements that are nice but not so necessary?)

export pdf
In my previous version of InDesign CS5.5. I could immediately type a number in and it would replace the page range. Now i have to tab to that section or manually select the range with my mouse. It doesn't sound like a lot but it greatly slows down my workflow...
Should be an easy fix!4 votes -

PDF comments
Would it be possible to make older versions of pdf comments available to import into Indesign? I tried the feature this morning, but it said I couldn't import because it was from an older pdf.
It would be nice to have this because not all clients/people in my organizations have access to get updated Adobe Acrobat Pro etc.

FIX CONTROL PANEL: InDesign 2019 does not display from the menu or is just blank as noted below
In Design for mac version 2019: The control panel is terrible: clicking the menu displays nothing. Only changing the Workspace which use to be a workaround to display it, now displays a blank and therefore useless panel.
This is just unacceptable. The menu problem has been a problem for a long time but now there is no workaround. This must be fixed.

Text Styles in Properties Panel - Show Overrides, Clear Overrides
The properties panel in the October 2018 version of InDesign is a great feature, however the implementation of Styles in the Text Insertion mode provides no feedback on whether or not overrides exist in the selected text, nor does it provide a means to clear any overrides. This provides a significant stumbling block for new users, who may end up redefining styles and applying more overrides to their text trying to fix display issues, not realising that the problem is overrides.
Building out the functionality to better reflect the existing Styles panels - at least in regards to locating and fixing overrides - would help prevent this.

Allow users to add footnotes in table text!!!
Please allow users to add footnotes in table text, I can't believe that this is not poosible. I am formatting a lengthy document for a client and some of the footnotes need to be in table text and they cannot be added without disrupting the flow of footnotes. This is such a basic thing that you should be able to do! Please add it!

Load Master Pages the same as Paragraph and Character Styles
Load Master Page options should be same as Loading Paragraph/Character Styles, with options to choose which Master you want to load/overwrite. I have documents with multiple Masters, but I may just want to update one of them. In current state, I have to load all Masters from another document, which forces unwanted changes to the other Master Pages that did not require updating.

Colour picker can't interperet hex values preceded by a hash
If a hexadecimal value is pasted into the hex field in the colour picker with a hash (#) on the front of the value, the picker should be able to ingest it. Currently the hash must be manually removed before the picker will update.
Very minor but very annoying when copying values from other software that includes the hash.

Use links with CC Libraries
I think it would be great to be able to use linked files in CC Libraries. We have a lot of master art on shared drives, and it wouldn't be practical to have it all in the cloud in a Library. For our team, this would be a huge addition... to store a shard-drive link to the file and a thumbnail, instead of uploading the entire asset.

Paragraph Overrides
You used to be able to hover your mouse over a paragraph style in the paragraph style panel that had an override (plus sign). When you hovered over this style it would display a tool tip showing you what was overriding that style. This no longer works.
InDesign magazine has even written an article about it... https://indesignsecrets.com/how-to-get-tooltips-working-again.php
The only way to fix this problem is to resize the panel. Every time you need to see what is overriding a style you have to resize the panel meaning you may have to resize the panel dozens of times for a document.
Please fix this. I can’t believe that this is not already on here.

Make the visibility of a form field contingent on text entered in a previous form field.
More specifically, I need text entered into a previous form field prior to the visibility of other fields. For example, you cannot fill out a title field without completing a name box previously. Ideally, this could be an option under "event" on the "Buttons and Forms" menu.
This is valuable when creating a form where data needs to be input for followup form fields to become visible.

Style counters
I would find very helpful to have a counter near any style (in particular for tables, but can work with other styles too) that enlights the number of items to whom is assigned the style and add a function, similar to the error panel, in which one can scroll to the elements, double clicking, and be brought to the item itself.

Allow the dynamic note function to be turned off so notes can be copied and pasted into separate documents
For all those of us who work on illustrated books with end matter, the fact that we cannot turn off the new dynamic note function is a serious problem. It means we can no longer copy notes out of a document and place them at the back of the book in a separate notes section without losing all of the note numbering.
The ability to add and remove notes without having to renumber by hand is great, but please give us the option to turn that off. For exhibition catalogues and academic art books, for example, all the notes have to sit at the very end of the book, and at the moment, it is completely impossible to do that. It's pretty disastrous for art-book designers, and it means we are going have to revert to the old version of Indesign until this is fixed. Please, please resolve as soon as possible!
Thank you.

Automatically create page hyperlinks from page. numbers entered to the page in the document
Have an option so that when typing an index and I type in a page number on the index page the program automatically creates a hyperlink to that page - it would save me hours every year. Even if you had to create a column within a table or something to do this.....
Of use the chapter heading at the top of the page to automatically create an index

Implement Adobe Sensei technology into InDesign
I recently attended the Adobe Symposium in Sydney, Australia, (as well as Adobe MAX in Las Vegas) and could not escape the phrase "Adobe Sensei" - Adobe's artificial intelligence software.
That said, is there any ability to implement Adobe Sensei technology into InDesign for any of the following purposes:
- Create a new indesign document based on a scan (for example, if I wanted to quickly create an invoice for a customer and all they had was a previously printed sample, I could scan the invoice and Adobe Sensei would do the rest, resulting in an InDesign file with type and graphics created by the A.I.)?
- Bring in a load of text and quickly autoformat it based on its content? Microsoft Word can do that right now.
- Be able to take an ID file and colour correct all images in the file?
- Be able to not only report preflight errors but take corrective action?

Adding the ability to create a new textbox from selected text.
By adding the option to make a text selection its own, new text box, it takes the hassle out of having to switch through tools and reformat copy. With this option, layouts would be a lot easier to fathom when you can break up the text simply by highlighting and creating the new box.
