Option to add Conditional Text to Paragraph/Character Styles
Would be extremely useful if you could automatically add a condition by applying a paragraph or character style (via data merge or an external Data Management System) to text without having to do a GREP find/change. Would make producing different versions more practical.

Improvements to "space between" feature
Hello, InDesign people!
The new "space between paragraphs using the same style" feature is a wonderful thing, and it is useful, but I feel it could be improved upon. In practice, there may be several different paragraph styles that should be regarded as the "same style" for this purpose. For instance, say I am designing a book with poetry extracts (block quotes) mixed into the main text. Before we had the "space between" feature, I had to make a paragraph style for the first line of a poem (with space before), a second style for the subsequent lines (no paragraph spacing), and a third style for the last line (space after). With the new "space between" feature, one style can accomplish all of this by specifying zero space between lines of the same style. However, in practice, a poem is likely to involve several different styles for differing indents, etc, and so in this case "space between" is not useful in practice. At the very least, a way to say "treat all of these specific styles as the 'same' for the purpose of spacing" would be an improvement.
There are many similar circumstances in which it would be helpful to specify paragraph spacing conditionally depending on what styles precede or follow the given style in context. For instance, I can imagine an extensive implementation that would allow for things like adjusting the spacing around subheads depending on what level of subhead precedes them, etc.
Thanks.
This may overlap with the suggestions in the link below:

Include Spread Rotation in PDF Export and Publish Online
When exporting/publishing as spreads, allow us to "include spread rotation" and display those properly in the online viewer and PDF export.
I have a calendar layout with most of the spreads rotated for proper viewing. I've always exported as spreads and rotated manually in Acrobat for the client but I can't do that when publishing online.
A simple version of this would apply only when exporting spreads ie: where the result of 2 8x10 pages is a single 16x20 page which is then rotated per the ID view settings.
A truly complete solution would need Acrobat/Reader the ability to show actual 2 page spreads vertically, where the result matches my spread layout and rotation in InDesign automatically. This could apply to multipage spreads as well, like a fold-out spread in a magazine, all while still respecting the individual pages in the PDF.
Further advancement could include folding information in the ID layout. That could allow for the export of interactive folding mockups as well as flat layouts for print directly from the same document without additional setup. Imagine a pocket folder layout that automatically exports both the proper looking 9x12 interactive comp for client viewing as well as the 18x16 flat layout for printing without any additional work. WOW that would be pretty cool, right?

Deleting unused paragraph styles in one fell swoop
I highly recommend that Adobe updates a feature to delete all unused paragraph styles in one fell swoop instead of a file by file case.

Add ability to export PDF as imposed spreads
It would be SO helpful to be able to export a PDF of a print layout as imposed spreads... the software already knows how to impose spreads in the Print Booklet feature, but if users could also export PDFs this way it would save a lot of time. I don't need to impose spreads often, but when I do it's a real time suck.

Remove the page "drop shadow"
Remove the page "drop shadow". It's confusing to see the thicker black border on the right and bottom of the page. Is it a locked element? No, it's part of the UI! Why? What is it trying to be?

Diagonal Strikethrough
An upgrade to the existing strike through option with new settings that allow for diagonal lines. I've added a mockup of the character style options.
This would be an awesome little update wich has many uses and make the life of a lot of InDesigners easier.

Save gradient swatch angles to object style
It would be nice to be able to save angles that you draw with the gradient swatch tool to the object style. I find it strange that we can save gradient feathers at any angle, but not gradient swatch tool angles.

QR Code
I think it would be great if the QR codes that are generated can be actually tracked. The number of users, where it was scanned, etc. Basically, Google Analytics but only for QR codes.
It would make things a great deal easier instead of setting up Google Analytics to track this information.13 votes -
Advanced Paragraph Shading Options
- The ability to specify a specific measured width for paragraph shading in pica, inches or whatever is the standard unit for the document.
- The ability to extend shading through continuous paragraphs. (i.e. If two consecutive paragraphs have the same paragraph style (with shading) that there is no gap between the paragraphs. Currently you have to use offset to extend these.

EXPORT JPG NAMED BY PAGE SIZE
Dear Adobe,
it would be very usefull if we could export jpgs from indd. file (contains different page sizes, 1200x628, 760x600, etc..) named by different page sizes like you did with export PDF files.

Live link Microsoft word documents when placed in InDesign
When working with lots of teams and writers in our organisation. the constant issue we run into is only a select group of people have InDesign and the experience to operate the files. If there was a way when placing word documents were linked into InDesign, this would allow for a much more fluid workflow when there are a lot of edits.
I am sure there are many limitations to this, but finding some sort of solution could make a big difference to creating quality documents that will allow non indesign users access. InCopy is not a viable option in the organisation.

'Even' and 'odd' pages from consecutive files in an InDesign book will not combine on a spread when exporting to PDF
When exporting a book with multiple InDesign files to PDF the last 'even' page from document 'x' needs to combine with the first 'odd' page of the next document on a spread.
So let's say document 1 is from page 1-6 and document 2 is from page 7 to page 50, pages 6 and 7 need to merge onto a spread when exporting to PDF. It will now make separate pages, while the pages from one and the same document do come out as spreads.13 votes -
Options dialog for Place from CC Library
Implement a possibility to choose how to import .ai items from Library. Now there is no dialog or options for this at all.
If your item has transparency Indesign uses import setting from last imported .ai object and provides no way to choose this for the current one. So if you want to change it you have to import no-matter-which .ai from local computer -> set desired transparency background option -> import your item from library.
This workaround is absolutely not obvious, thanks for Adobe forums it posted there (from year 2016).13 votes -
Table cell stroke missing (once save to IDML)
2019 indesign bug: When I save as an IDML version for our client, the table cell has a missing 'stroke/baseline for all the pages.
Please see comparison of 2019 and IDML version.

Cross Reference feature - Relink selection to a different Indesign document
I need assistance to add a feature to the cross references panel. Right now you cannot batch relink cross references to a different indesign document. I need a feature added to this such as relink selected, locate different document, select and relink. Right now the only way to do this is to individually relink each cross-reference. For example if I have a book file and the glossary with 250 entries in it and I change some of the content from one document to another and move the text anchors with it, I have to individually relink each cross reference. Could you please add a feature to relink batches of cross references?

let users change app language dynamically, without re-installing the app.
Users can't but reinstall apps in order to change language(e.g. Korean -> English).
I want it to be more simple.
Mandatory reinstallation just for changing language is overkill.13 votes -
The option to LOCK panels and their objects into place so they cannot be undocked by accident.
Not everyone one of us is young, and some of us have conditions where we're not able to fully control our movements such as advanced arthritis or MS. I often accidently undock an item in the panel, and I mean OFTEN. It is frustrating, and interrupts my workflow.
For accessibility to disabled designers, there really SHOULD be a way to make those docks NOT so easily moved, undocked, etc. Floating panels was fine when I had finger control but now that I'm in early stages of MS--its frustrating that I accidently undock an item from a panel or move the panel by mistake..

Defining a Drop Cap
If you define a Drop Cap in a paragraph style WITH a character style and also define a nested style, if there is a single letter word starting the paragraph, the nested style does not recognize it and will apply the nested style to an additional word beyond the deliminator. For example, a nested style through 3 words will apply to the first 4 if the paragraph starts with "I[space]" or "A[space]". It does not do this if [none] is chosen from the character style dropdown in Drop Caps, but only if one is chosen (even when nothing is defined in the character style). See attached image. Nothing is defined in chosen character style <dropcap>.

13 votesHi,
Thanks for reporting this issue.
However this behaviour seems to prevail since quite a long time.I have marked it NeedsReview for consideration in the coming versions of InDesign.
