Content Placer Tool Place Into Existing Frame
The behaviour should be exactly the same when i place a document with the Place... option. Hold the alt key, the pointer shows two opening brackets to indicate the Paste into function and Done. Currently I cant place collected content into frames. I always have to click and drag new ones.

I should be able to share epub/html export tags between documents without loading the paragraph/character styles themselves.
Loading paragraph and character styles from another document can cause shifts in locally formatted text and reflow. But having the ability to load just the export tag mapping would avoid such reflow.

6 simple updates to make 'Publish Online' better
An open request to Adobe to address at the following:
Customisable links, based off user profile and document title. The current lengthy lines of jumbled letters do not look professional when sending to clients.
Password protected links. Since we're forced to publish on Adobe's cloud, at least give the ability to encrypt the link so it can't be forwarded on. Extra feature here (like frame.io) would be to require the viewers email to view so the author can get data and verify who is viewing the document.
Make it possible to preview a gif loop while designing instead of the current need to publish and wait and republish each time a gif sequence needs to be reviewed.
Make it possible to choose the gif thumbnail that becomes the still image when a client decides to download an offline version.
Make it easy, and elegant to embed and play audio. If it's possible to embed gifs it's strange to me that an audio file of a similar size cannot be inserted and played directly off the document. The player is clumsy and dated, the "play triangle" icon is also old and limiting.
Full screen on mobile - there's no way to look at the full pdf without the URL bar hovering on top, taking up a lot of screen space. Please fix.
- Why are these valuable to me? For the past 3 years I have moved all my presentations to 'publish online' and it has become the industry standard (tv commercial pitches). In these 3 years I've seen no updates or improvements, and the requests above are quite basic (security, customisability, functionality). It feels a lot like this product has been overlooked or abandoned!

Have two systems of unit measurement operate simultaneously, depending on feature and function
I would like InDesign to operate simultaneously in two unit of measurement systems. I would like to be able to work and view typographic measurements such as point size, leading, paragraph spacing, baseline shift, and drop shadow amounts in Picas/Points; but at the same time see my page size, margins, object dimensions, column widths and such displayed in inches, or mm, or even pixels, according to my need. I don't want to have to switch back and forth to easily SEE and reference measurements in control panels. I want some to display in one system, but others to display in a different system, and I want to be able to have some control of which unit system to use in various functions.

Add shortcut to clean up open panels
I often lose a panel when I'm working. A shortcut and/or View menu item to rearrange open panels so they do not overlap would save me a LOT of time hunting for them.

Add the ability to select a parent for the following page or spread.
In the "Parent Options" dialog box (on Windows, though I'm sure it's pretty consistent cross-platform) there's the options for the current spread.
What if we could add a limitation that allowed you to specify the parent style for adding pages?
For example, if I had a chapter head page, having it be able to automatically switch to the standard body parent would be a time saver for that highly repetitive task.
The option would be after "Number of Pages" and probably say something like "Parent for Following Page" with a selector for the existing parents, and another selector with "Following Page" and "Following Spread" as options.
Not sure how it would all look, but that's the core of the idea.

Instead of allowing objects to leave the pasteboard, just move them to the edge of the pasteboard
I often place and then resize images in InDesign. Very often when I go to resize an image, I get the error "This would cause one or more objects to leave the pasteboard" and I can't actually resize all the way down to a manageable size—I have to move the entire image somewhere random and try to resize, or just resize in increments, move the image, and resize again.
I understand that I don't want objects to leave the pasteboard. But if an object is about to leave the pasteboard, why can't it just move to the edge of the pasteboard instead?
Anchored objects can have a setting where they are not allowed to leave the column boundaries on the page. It seems like there should be a way to make objects not be allowed to leave the pasteboard regardless of its XY coordinates. If the user tries to set XY coordinates (or makes a change that would also change the XY coordinates) to something outside of the pasteboard range, the XY coordinates of the object should instead be set to just inside the pasteboard range.

Hyperlink updates
It seems odd that there is no way to have hyperlinks open in new windows, or have noopener/noreferrer options. The new window would make exported pdfs much easier to use especially since most browsers open pdf links instead of having the document downloaded. And, given the nature of the internet these days, making all links default to a rel="noreferrer noopener" seems like a smart idea to make links safer to use.

Maintain the Layers Panel scroll position when switching between documents.
Maintain the Layers Panel scroll position when switching between documents.
At the moment when you switch between documents the scroll position of the Layers Panel 'resets' to showing the top most item in the layers list.
On documents with many layers (where the scroll bar is present) every time you switch documents you have to scroll down to find the active layer. Very unproductive.1 vote -

Make it easier to find the option for 4-page spreads.
The User Guide needs to include information about creating 4-page spreads. For book editing, seeing 8 pages at a time is great (on a larger monitor screen, which as a book publisher I use.). The Page function allows a 4-page spread, or more, when the user disables the Shuffle setting and drags and connects 4 pages together horizontally in the page view. Fine. I found this out on some non-Adobe graphic design forum by luck. This wasn't anywhere in the Adobe InDesign help or user information that I could find. Include this in the User Guide! Improve it so it's labeled better. We can then re-enable Shuffle, with a 4-page spread. I didn't reset my whole 150 page book because I would have to do so manually. Perhaps If I had made my first spread 4-pages, and then placed text automatically it would have created more pages in the 4-page spread view. If that isn't the case, can you offer this? This would great for books, as we can better cut and paste and look for repeated phrases, etc. when viewing two 4-page spreads, for a total of viewing 8 pages at time, instead of 4 pages at a time, the usual view.

Use relevant error messages
"Cannot copy necessary linked file(s)"
"Failed To Export The PDF File"
These messages sucks. Why keeping the reasons in secret?
Which file cannot copied? On which page/object failed the export?
Users spend many working hours to find the problem, which ID have to know, but don't publish.1 vote -
Apply gabarits with conditions
Hello, after a long research, I notice that there is no possibility to apply gabarits according to rules (presence of text, grep, presence of image, percentage of filled text block, presence of style, etc.) to specific pages (on the first/last page, between some pages, grep-like operation, etc.). This could be done by giving several templates to a page and giving rules to choose which one to apply (with an option to choose the pages dynamically).
For my part, I'm desperately looking for a dynamic and automated way to hide the folio/page number when it's an empty (no text) or almost empty page. This is the case for pages before chapters (1 or 2 pages). This could be one of the many applications of this featureI'm french so I'm sorry if there are any language mistakes…

Place Linked IDMS
It would be awesome if we could link a IDMS file or be able to add a InDesign file to CC Libraries and be able to place that into another InDesign file. This would be great for reusing pieces of text or layout that occasionally gets updated in multiple documents. When place the IMDS there could be an option to keep the link so if the version in the library is updated so is the placed version or to place a copy that does not stay associated with the one in the Library.
I know it is possible to place inDesign Documents in a InDesign document and a possible work-around would be to save the InDesign File - Place the Placed InDesign file in another file and the add to the Library but it creates a extra step in creation and editing.

Composite fonts cannot be renamed.
InDesign Japanese version cannot rename composite fonts.
This is inconvenient.Please improve it.

Handling of composite fonts with the same name but different settings in InDesign Japanese version
When multiple documents containing composite fonts with the same name and different settings are opened at the same time, the composite fonts in the documents opened later are forcibly duplicated and renamed. As a result, the number of composite fonts increases countlessly, which is very complicated to manage.
Please assign a unique ID to each composite font temporarily and load it into the application, so that composite fonts with the same name but different settings can coexist in the application.
