I need in InDesign these tools: 1. in the «Path» I need «Outline Stroke 2. “Perespective” tool 3. the new “Generate” like what in Illustrat
I do almost all design and drawings in the InDesign program, so I found these tools in Photoshop and Illustrator. It is nice and ok for me not to leave InDesign and do all the things I need for printing and layout.
I am using InDesign Eastern language. (The Generating, is still not in the Eastern Version!!).

Add space before text on the first line in a text box
For each new chapter in a book, we like to add space before the chapter title, but need to either modify the size of the text box (dragging the top down), or we need to add a paragraph break to act as a work-around to create space before the first line of text.
It'd be great if InDesign had a feature to allow added space before the first line.

Regarding the behavior of Adobe app UI in a multiple-screen case
The scenario: Company given laptop usage with Adobe apps. Using multiple monitors at workplace. Also the same while working from home.
Problem: The UI (floating windows, toolbox, etc.,) keep spreading out in different monitors or screens, which is annoying to to settle every time as the preferred monitor keeps changing. Please see attached image (UI spread cross monitors.jpg)
Proposed solution: I understand that it might be difficult for app to trace the monitor I am using. At least there should be a possibility to 're-arrange all UI in one monitor' when I use 'Workplace' menu and choose my favorite workplace style (as in attached Workplace.jpg image). It should gather all UI into the monitor that has main menu/active page open. This will save me lots of time re-arranging UI every time when monitors are swapped :-)
Please note the suggestion also applies to all Adobe apps, that behave like this.
Thanks,
Wilson Almeida

Upsample Images on PDF Export
DESCRIPTION:
Indesign could offer the option of upsampling images to a specified PPI on PDF export. Rather than requiring the user to find each under-res image and manually destructively upsample each with a round-trip through Photoshop.
Optimally, there could be a threshold setting below which an image resolution is too low. This could be either "effective" resolution PPI number threshold ("Upsample images with an effective placed resolution above 120ppi"), or a max scale percentage that would be needed to get the image up to the set output resolution ("Upsample images within 40% of target resolution." or "Upsample images by no more than 250%.")
Export dialog could offer different options for dealing with grossly undre-res images or a global "low-resolution" preferences could be set to throw an error at the initial export command similarly to how it deals with missing or modified links.
I understand that the Preflight panel is already designed to manage resolution issues. But I'm suggesting the option of a workflow where image upsampling happens only for a specific individual PDF output rather than permanently modifying linked source images.
REASON:
It can be time-consuming to review and override each error that a slightly under-resolution image will throw with modern highly-automated print workflows. (I mean, come on, can anyone see the difference between 280 and 300 ppi once printed? Of course not, but the press doesn't want the liability so throws automated errors if any image is even just 1% under the target resolution.)
Sometimes it's necessary to use images that are not available at any additional resolution and require resampling to choose softness over pixelation. But it can be a nuisance to manage the multiple up-sampled assets hanging around after various uses ("Oh look! Here's a higher resolution version! Dangit, nope, it's just another upsample.") A source image would preferably remain at the actual original resolution since in most cases an upsampled image is made for a specific output.

apply height or width to several image frames at once
Sometimes I need to make a slight adjustment in size to several images in a piece, and they all need to be the same size. If there was a way to select them all and then type in the height/width to apply to each selected item rather than all of them as a whole, that would save a lot of time of having to select and size each one separately.
2 votesSelect 1 image. Change its size to what you want for it and other images.
Then select rest of the images on that spread and choose Object > Transform Again > Transform Sequence Again Individually.
Hope it resolves the issue for you.

Improve Conversion of Adobe Illustrator Documents Into InDesign Documents
It is a sad, sad day when you realize you built an entire library of corporate charts in the wrong Adobe app. And an even sadder day when you realize that converting Adobe Illustrator files into Adobe InDesign files is not straightforward. You will now spend hours creating text boxes, with copy-pasta-weary fingers... If only converting illustrator text to indesign text were easier... Alas, my fate is bound. Woe is me. I shall make a weak cry out for help to Adobe developers before I continue my trudging along in my pitiful sorrow.
Description:
I am trying to convert Illustrator files that are 1-2 US Letter 8.5x11" pages with Text and .svg graphics into Indesign. When I paste the content in, I get an error that says the data will be placed as EPS in order to avoid degraded performance. But I need the text to be editable because our translation service will only provide translations for indesign documents. I end up building it from scratch. Why its valuable:
A way to assign incoming text boxes, lines, shapes, from Illustrator when pasted into InDesign would save me a lot of time. I need to do this for 48 documents. It is a sad, sad day when you realize you built an entire library of corporate charts in the wrong Adobe app. And an even sadder day when you realize that converting Adobe Illustrator files into Adobe InDesign files is not straightforward. Make 'Preferences/Grids/Baseline grid' changes live
When using 'Preferences/Grids/Baseline grid' to set, or change, or modify the baseline grid, it would be really useful if the changes were visible live, rather than having to repeatedly open/close the dialogue window to see changes.

Flatplan for magazines
Adobe does not currently offer a tool for page imposition when creating a magazine.
A magazine is produced from many documents, which are then compiled into a complete issue along with advertisements in PDF format.
We urgently need a tool that allows us to view the entire magazine as a whole.
Bridge could serve this purpose if it were able to display all pages from InDesign files and allow us to manipulate and move them as needed across the entire magazine.
Adobe Bridge could then be able to send this magazine structure for export and instruct InDesign on the position of each page, so that it can adjust the page numbers accordingly.

Embedded Object Styles
I would find it helpful for inCopy files with an embedded Object to use the documents Object Styles.
At the moment I am creating bios, each bio requires a headshot. I have created a basic text box in InDesign into which I have embedded a small graphic frame to which I have assigned the Object Style "Headshot Box". Once this is created I open InCopy, place in the persons bio copy. Import the file into InDesign, edit it and place the relevant headshot in the "Headshot Box". I can then edit the Paragraph Style and Character Style, however to edit the "Headshot Box" I have to unlink the icml file and edit the Object Style. Or edit the Incopy file, but then this changes the original size. If Object Styles could be used the same way as Paragraph and Character Styles it would be a huge bonus.I would find it helpful for inCopy files with an embedded Object to use the documents Object Styles.

Show Preflight error if there are objects on pasteboard
It would be really helpful to have a feature in Preflight profile settings to alert you if there are any items left on the pasteboard.
I often have to supply files for translation and any items left on the pasteboard may either incur extra translation charges or cause unnecessary confusion at back end. I know there is a script to remove pasteboard items, but I would prefer seeing that red dot as I often handle other people's files in which the objects may be in the oddest of places, such as far to the side and out of view even when zoomed out.

Text Variables should support super/sub script
Text variables should support incidental superscript and subscript. Currently, even with using GREP in the paragraph style which defines the super- or sub-script and placing on a master page, the text variable does not support these formats in actual placement on document pages. Very elementary feature that should be supported.

Update / Upgrade the Numbering & Sections Dialogue Panel
The Numbering & Sections Dialogue Panel is long overdue for an upgrade. Page numbering defaults to however the first section is numbered --working with publications, the first section is often Roman numerals while the bulk of the book is Arabic numbering, which means changing the numbering style every time a new section is created.
And the Section Marker field is much too small.
It really would be good if the Section Markers and Text Variables were all combined into a single, flexible method for labeling publication sections.2 votes -
Grid view when zoomed out
Please allow pages to move into a grid view when zooming out. This would allow for page layout artists to look at the "big picture" view all at once without the endless scrolling. Attaching two pictures, one is what indesign looks like now, the second is what it looks like in Microsoft Word which is a MUCH more helpful view. If this is already available, please let me know, I'd love to use this feature!

Autosave on Indesign !!!
Currently in much distress due to the lack of an autosave feature on indesign. We artists and students should not be trusted to manually save our work. We just leave it up at all times. I know this exists on Adobe applications, this needs to be a top priority. Too many lost files due to this. Praying for a miracle and a non-existent recovered file. CATER TO YOUR AUDIENCE!

Align to page when only one item selected!
I usually have 'Align to Selection' as my default. Wouldn't it be great if when only one item is selected that the align buttons use 'Align to Page'

Enable "relink to CC Library"
Enable "relink all images to a different CC Library" (relink to CC Library) , like you do on your hard drive (relink to folder)
I´m creating catalogues where I reuse a lot of images again and again,.
I copy images from one Library to a new Library.
Then I want to relink this new Library to a copy of my Indesign document.Earlier it was easy to link all images to a different folder, but in CC Librarys it do not work the same way, very frustrating.
And with the shutting down of synced files folders it’s very important to get this to work, I don't want to relink the images one by one.

Lyft background check?
It is an honor to be able to join the Lyft driver community, which sounds like one exciting environment. I am currently in the course of getting through the application steps. As I go through all the steps, I have thought about the thoroughness of Lyft with respect to what it looks for in a background check. While doing some research, I stumbled across this informative article (https://consumerattorneys.com/article/what-does-lyft-look-for-in-a-background-check), shedding light on the subject. I am very sure that your collective wisdom can provide more details.
Just for those of you who have firsthand experience in driving for Lyft or have plunged in the detailed knowledge of their screening process in general, I would be glad to hear from you. Could you please share your experiences, or better still, some information that you have regarding what exactly Lyft is looking for in a background check? Is there a particular aspect or criteria that it particularly emphasizes in the course of screening? How comprehensive or particular is the background check, and are there any unique things I should look out for?
Being new to all this and going through this process for the first time, I would gladly accept your tips or advice. Your insights will be invaluable in embarking on this journey of becoming a Lyft driver. Let's create a pool of knowledge in supporting each other in this exciting endeavor.

PDF to InDesign - Preserve Editing Capabilities
In Illustrator, you have an option for saving to PDF to "Preserve Illustrator Editing Capabilities" so that you can open the file in Illustrator again and have the whole file including the layers, effects, guides, etc. Can we have this for InDesign as well?
I work with some people that I know use InDesign and export the PDF from there, but don't share the InDesign file so when changes need to be made, it gets a bit more complicated than necessary.2 votes -
More options when resizing a layout
If I need to resize a page/layout using Document Setup, ideally for me, all of the existing content would remain at the top of the page, so a new, taller page size would add more space at the bottom, or if I wish to shorten a page, empty white space would be removed from the bottom. InDesign 19.2 centers all content vertically on the new page size, which I can't imagine anyone would ever want, forcing the unnecessary step of moving everything back to the top of the new page. You could add a Photoshop-style grid icon to show where we want to add or remove page space, but simply leaving everything at the top of the page would be sufficient. Mac Ventura.
