Allow movie objects to be placed behind other layers
I am working on a huge airport project at an architecture firm, and we want to be able to respond to requests for information with animation files, however, we cannot maintain our standard format because the movie files, when placed in an indesign file and exported to an interactive PDF, shift to the front layer and obscure all the written information we wish to include along with the file. I am considering using AfterEffects to create an entire animation with text overlayed, but the ease of use of InDesign would be sorely missed.

Smaller CC Packages please
Why do I have to include loads of programs I don't need if I upgrade to CC? It's bad enough making us pay this expensive subscription but as a graphic designer I only use InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator and Acrobat Pro. Can't you fashion more selective packages? I'm holding out with CS6 but having been coerced by Apple into upgrading to High Sierra it's all looking wobbly. Adobe are the vanguard of the Tyranny Of Upgrade.

Allow Open Office files to be imported
Open office is a popular format but indesign doesn't have a filter to let them be imported. All our contributors use Open Office but the only way I can import them is to open them up, copy and paste - and lose all formatting. Not EVERYTHING has to revolve around Microsoft, surely?

Make "replace selected item" in indesign stay the way it was - checked or unchecked - when launching again.
When launching indesign, "replace selected item" is always checked, regardless of whether it was unchecked when closing last time. This should stay unchecked if you close with it unchecked, or checked if you close it checked. I've asked for this several times over the past few years but never had any feedback nor any action. It's one of the more annoying features of indesign.

PDF Export Dialog
I still don't get the reason why you need to separate between Print and Interactive on PDF export at first stage where you choose your file format.
Please put make these options selectable in the PDF preset dialog insted.
It happens too oft to me that i don't look at the little format field at the bottom and just take attention to where i want to export my filesttoo and then am presented to the wrong dialog forcing me to abort the procedure to start over again.Thank you!

This is a default keyboard shortcut for all application to type Indian rupee symbol and Microsoft has released a patch for the same.

Please bring back mini bridge.
Mini bridge was a great feature. Using Bridge inside of Indesign saved a lot of time and frustration with messy images files from clients.

Latest InDesign version buggy
Latest version update is crashing, files getting corrupted, and it is not recognizing typing when first letter is lowercase.

Add a keep option in cell styles
For cell styles, add the "Keep with next row" option so that it doesn't have to be done manually for each desired cell.

Publish Online
Option for making navigation button NOT ANIMATED, maybe even larger. I recently had a huge project rejected because client did not know how to navigate and assumed others would have the same problem. (URL to project was embedded in button in email campaign--works great!)

functionality not working any longer.
Hi. In older versions of InDesign and Illustrator on Mac I was able to minimise the application by double clicking the title bar. In the latest version of CC this does not work any longer - Acrobat and Photoshop have no problem. High Sierra 10.13.4. All Adobe apps completely updated.

Colours /Swatches Problem
There is big problem in InDesign for colours, because not every one remember different type of CMYK property .
Just take an idea so you can understand [ When you draw a owl in illustrator, so you have a lot of colours options to change by using colour helper or if need then add from swatches, it's that easy, but in InDesign that's very hard to that, because if you have to change colour then first you have to know that colours CMYK property, then you can add into swatches then you can use that colour. PLEASE REMOVE THIS! I want to place an image and shrink it. PERIOD. such a frustration!
Whenever I drag over a PNG file (which happens to be an icon) and I want to shrink it to a smaller size....I'm always confronted with:
"This value would cause one or more objects to leave the pasteboard"
Okay.....that's fine. But why don't you provide INSTRUCTIONS for how to resolve this???? I've been copying it to different areas and nothing works. I've wasted 15 minutes and nothing. Like this is SUCH a burden in my workflow.
So for the love of God, please remove this PROMPT, it does more harm than good!

Refresh available swatches after creating a new swatch in Paragraph styles window
When you create or change a paragraph style, in the window where all the formats of the paragraph style are listed, you can change the character color, you can also create a new swatch by double clicking on the fill or stroke color icon. But once the new swatch is created, you can not imediately select it for your paragraph style, you have to change the category in the window (for example go to underline options), then go back to character color to use the new swatch.

Option to cancel exporting to JPG
Currently there is no option to cancel exporting the indesign file to JPG.
Once the process is started we are not able to cancel it.
If there is a 100-page document exported to jpg we have to wait a lot of time depending on the system spec.
If there is a cancel process button where it shows the process of exporting that will be great.1 vote
