non-contigious text selections
I'm absolutely amazed that a product (inDesign) with the power to do everything from making a cup of coffee to managing the invasion of a small African republic does not provide a user with the ability to select non-contigious text. Given the value of this as a feature, I can only assume that it has been requested many times over but that Adobe has deemed it not important enough to warrant inclusion. Surely it is a rather simple coding exercise to include this.
I write books using inDesign and I waste many hours selecting different text items and making the…

Predetermine Adobe .pdf settings for Publish Online Documents
I post interactive documents in a double page spread with Publish Online, but when it is downloaded, all the interactivity is stripped out and it downloads as single pages. What is the point of posting an interactive document in a spread format if you can't download it, as an interactive document in spread format!
I would like to be able to predetermine the .pdf download options before publishing online ie double page spread with (cover page) and choose the interactive elements to be included. That way when they press download .pdf it is downloaded with all the interactivity and in…

Frame Fitting Panel
Fairly self explanatory. Frame fitting options are one of the only frequently used features that don't have their own panel, which can cause UX issues for various reasons. Solution, give them a panel.

Colouring and user-order of font menu
User customized font menu. Colours and the ability to order the fonts exactly how you want. . This makes it so easy to slide to the part of the menu to grab a font you know. This was done in the 1990's by Now Utilities on OS7, 8 and 9. Bring it on!!! It was SO fast to find your fonts. I had blue for Serif, red for San Serif, green for Script and so on. Colour coding is great for many features.

1. Warping fonts easily like Aldus Typetwister or Typstyler. Preset by user for easy re-use. 2. Valuable for better design.
Adobe already owns Typetwister when it bought Aldus. Just incorporate it into InDesign. Welcome back to 1990.

Problem with Paragraph Borders across the page (with same paragraph style)
In the "Paragraph Borders" we need an option that allows you to determine whether or not to leave the "paragraph border" at the bottom of the page. When using the same paragraph style (to simulate a table) often the client requires that the border at the bottom (or top) of the page are not visible, to indicate continuity (as happens now in the case in which the same paragraph is divided between the two pages).
Operating system: "catalina 10.15.1".

Feature to export / import workspace settings
As a freelancer working in and out of different studios, having to set up workspaces each time could be made easier by being able to import a workspace setting (like you can with swatches).
This feature would be useful across all CS programs.

The "undo" button: aka- Control + z
Please allow to undo (ctrl + z) more than three times. It's frustrating to not be able to go back more than three times, especially when you're working on a longer document and you have to close out of it because InDesign won't let you fix something you made four corrections ago.

Thank for new versions - but the scroll button the is a dull grey atop another shade of grey is not visible enough for quick work -
i have worked as a designer for many years - please consider colour and contrast in the scroll feature for pages. As i try to proof a manuscript against another file, i must constantly search for the scroll tab in order to read more text - even a lighter shade of grey or something complementary would help the worker.
thanks

Include Spread Rotation in PDF Export and Publish Online
When exporting/publishing as spreads, allow us to "include spread rotation" and display those properly in the online viewer and PDF export.
I have a calendar layout with most of the spreads rotated for proper viewing. I've always exported as spreads and rotated manually in Acrobat for the client but I can't do that when publishing online.
A simple version of this would apply only when exporting spreads ie: where the result of 2 8x10 pages is a single 16x20 page which is then rotated per the ID view settings.
A truly complete solution would need Acrobat/Reader the ability to show…

Merge index page entries
Indexing often end up looking like this:
Smith, John 37, 38, 39.
It's tedious to have to make the first entry be for the next three pages and delete the other two. Why not have a menu option to "Merge consecutive pages." It could be run near the end of the indexing process when the page breaks are unlikely to change.
Even better would be an option to for consecutive page entries to create a new entry that makes the first the start of the indexing and the last the end of it. That'd keep the range right even when…

Radically improve indexing efficiency
This is a general suggestion. Indexing is one of the most tedious, time-consuming processes in ID. Look for ways to make it more efficient. Here are some suggestions.
When a user selects text for indexing, automatically look up that text in the index listing and display those that match. Often the text with say "John Smith" but his name is in the index as" John H. Smith." When a user selects text with "Smith" in it, have a window that displays all entries with "Smith," allowing the proper one to be selected.
Clicking to open lists under first letters is…

Automatically update the preview in the index panel
Currently, when users make a change to an index entry the result page range listing is not automatically. Users have to select Update Preview from the Index panel. Why not make the index list automatically update whenever a change is made?

French dictionaries
The Académie française updated spellings in French in 1990, and textbooks in France are now teaching the new versions. But InDesign does not inherently support the new spellings. The only way to activate them is by drilling down into the files and adding Hunspell manually. ID does support much more recent German reforms, though. After 29 years (which is literally older than ID itself!), it's time for Adobe to support this.

Show the year-based version name in the about window
I'd like to see the YEAR based version name of each product, in the About window. Today I need to visit Wikipedia to check what the version numbers mean.

Split Columns doesn't work correctly yet
If I use the option "Split column" all the paragraphs at the bottom of the page aren't splitted, the option doesn't work correctly (1.png), except when the text boxes are closed manually (2.png), as you can see from the attached files.
I don't understand the utility of not splitting two columns at the bottom of the page when this property is selected in the options.7 votes
