  1. Font Menu Management

Need a way for end-users to control which fonts appear in the font menu. We don't need, or want, all the Mac OS system fonts to appear in our InDesign font menu, but there is currently no way to remove them from the list. While we can sort by Favorites, this would mean we'd need to go through and mark all our corporate fonts as Favorites in order to only display them. With Apple no longer allowing removal of System fonts, application font menus are getting totally out of control. Allowing control of what is displayed from within the application…

  2. Add a 'Quantize' function

A Quantize function should align selected vertices and layout element to the nearest document grid points. This allows for quick layout / design sessions to be aligned to grid after wards.

  3. Convert Table to Form

Should be a simple way to tell InDesign (and later Acrobat) that a table is a form.

Column A are the Field names, column B are the blank fields. No field recognition necessary, just spreadsheet logic. Even a dialog where you define which rows/columns are what would be a huge boost.

Would save 3 headaches: 1) not knowing if Acrobat will recognize the fields, 2) renaming each field 1-by-1, and 3) setting the text formatting 1-by-1 (Acrobat can batch this but InDesign can't).

  4. Faster Form Field Workflow - Batch Editing, Fields List Panel, Faster Renaming

Need the ability to select multiple form fields to edit their input appearance in batch. Bare minimum we need a list of fields in a panel, similar to Acrobat.

Couldn't get Acrobat to recognize table fields in a form I made with InDesign, so I converted the cells to graphic cells and made them text form fields. But then I could only select one at a time to edit their names, choose font, etc.

Working on forms with a lot of fields takes a lot of clicks as it stands now. A panel with all fields would allow faster renaming…

  5. Option to select all text over multiple components in InCopy

It is impossible to select all text in an article that exists over multiple components.
Now you can only copy text from one component at the time.
Would be helpful, for example, if you need to quickly copy the article to be pasted in an email so it can be send to somebody to review.

  6. spell check

Spell check in Indesign is not fit for purpose in its current state, it is slow and clunky and gives no indication of where you are when checking a long document, could it not give a list of words like links panel that you can click to go to? At least implement some sort of progress bar and indication of how man words are incorrect/need reviewing. The forwards and backwards button do not help in any way - i'm sure the reason you need the change direction is only because its so slow and clunky that it goes past a…

  7. In World-ready Composer mode, Using kinsoku settings as in CJK composer

In Korea (or Japan or China), We use CJK composer with kinsoku.
But sometimes we have to use World-ready Composer when we insert a right-to-left word (such as Hebrew word) in paragraph.
Then we have no choice but to abandon kinsoku.

So I and many Korean designers want to use kinsoku in World-ready Composer (or in CJK composer, to use right-to-left script function in Hebrew, Aribic, etc., as in World-ready Composer).

  8. Option to pick your default Share for Review Private or Public Access Setting

This may already be available (if so please teach me), but I don't see it.

Having the share for review option able to default to either public or private access. I can't tell you how many times I am in a rush and forget to click public and then the person gets back and says, they don't have access.

  9. an option to decide which levels to export

an option to decide which levels to export, for example, create a book in which there are many documents, which have different language levels, I would like to be able to decide when exporting the book which levels to have in the final file without having to open each single document

  13. Import formatting from PDF comments

InDesign should apply what ever it recives from the PDF. The formating options for the comments are pretty limited – Bold, Italic, Underline, ...

If I accept a comment that has italic characters, the formatted text would be [italic].

If I accept a comment that has bold characters, the formatted text would be [bold].

If I accept a comment that has bold italic characters, the formatted text would be [bold italic].

If I am using a font that does not have an Italic weight (Maybe it uses Regualre Italic), the text would just recive the standart missing font warning (The…

  14. Automatic page shuffling on books (indb) should be opt-in

InDesign automatically changes numbering of files listed on a indb book.
That's handy but may easily lead to disasters and should be an opt-in

Sometimes I only create indb books when I'm near to finish a book. Each file is already numbered correctly and chapters begin on even pages.

If I'm adding files to my indb one by one and unknowingly skip one of them, InDesign automatically changes page numbering on my files. The problem is that InDesign will also shuffle pages and save files as soon as I add them to my indb.

On simple text books, that doesn't…

  15. Allow to export pdf with comments for archival purposes

Once we are done with a project, we package all of our files and upload to our server. It would be nice to be able to export the reviewed documents as pdfs that include all of the comments made. Just for archival purposes in case we ever go back and wonder why certain changes were made.

  17. Hover over panels to expand them and let them collapse automatically

    Hi
When working on a single (and small) monitor setup I am constantly collapsing and moving the panels of Photoshop, Indesign and Illustrator because that specific panel is hidden behind another expanded panel.

This should fix that problem and should save me multiple clicks:
The option to expand panels when hovering over the panel's icon and auto-collapse them when the mouse leaves the expanded panel. The workspace stays clean that way and I don't need to constantly close unused panels.

  18. table of contents

It would be great if there were a way to group pages with the same header, or automatically have a header include all page numbers between the page the header appears and the next header appears.

For example, the publication I'm building has a few top-level categories, like Pens, Pencils, Pastels, etc… and then sub-categories of name brands within those main category sections, like Bic, Sharpie, Prisma, etc…

Given that I'm already using the "alphabetical order" feature to make the ToC sort of like an Index as well, I'd like to be able to automatically include the pages in the…

  20. Add a "Duplicate" file feature much like Photoshop has.
