Use regular selection tool with grouped objects
I would like to be able to select multiple objects within a group using the regular Selection Tool. Currently InDesign only allows me to select 2 items within a group. If I try to select a third object it "exits" the group. The Direct Selection Tool allows me to select multiple grouped objects, but will sometimes select just a vertex or other sub-element of an object. It would be great if the regular selection tool could select as much content within a group as desired. Thanks!

Bring Back the DPI!
Dear Adobe,
How could you get rid of the term DPI, especially in InDesign, and replace it with PPI?!!!! As a print designer for the last 15 years, it breaks my heart to see that the premiere software company for designers has abandoned a term that is part of the fundamental lexicon of graphic design. I am a print designer at a CA State University and it kills me that our graphic design students graduate with an BA in Art/Graphic Design without having set foot inside a print shop! Apply character styles to every occurrence of specific index entries
Allow us to apply character styles to every occurrence of specific index entries. For example book titles that are usually italicized.
Under the topic in addition to the sort by options include a checkbox for always apply character style and then the drop down to select a character style.

Merge variables for color that can be used in styles and as swatches
Merge doc variables for colour.
An option on the colour swatch to add a reference to link to a merged variable from a csv for a hex, rgb or cmyk colour. This would allow specific swatches to update styles in a document for text color, lines, background colors etc if a document defined style uses that particular swatch.

Zoom 100% - 1:1
In print and web documents the 100% zoom isn't acual an 1:1-size (800 pixels are not shown as 800 pixels, 20 mm are not shown as 20 mm).
I reconize that it depends on your Screensize/and os dpi settings, but that must be possibe! In Acrobat i am able to set an customize resolution (for mm) and in photoshop 800 pixel are 800 pixel at 100% zoom.12 votes -

Add Sticky Notes to Incopy like in Acrobat
The Layout and the the Editors work pretty close together in our company. The ability for the Editors to correct their text in the Layoutview is a nice thing for both... Layout and Editors. But we really miss the "Sticky Note" Feature known from Acrobat. When the Editors try to communicate, that they want changes being applied to the Design, thats not really possible with Incopy right now. More control with paragraph shading
I would like more control over the space insets in the paragraph shading options. When a long paragraph of text flow on to the next page there is no way to control the spacing above (padding) when we're in the middle of the paragraph and "clip to frame" is checked. It is possible to get away with it if the distance from the top-margin and the first baseline is sufficient, but most of the time I want more space. I think it would be better if the text was forced down to the second baseline if necessary. The end goal…

Auto Hyperlinks for Phone numbers
Applies to all export options that use Hyperlinks. Please update the Hyperlinks panel to also search Phone numbers. Include Ability to determine which numbers are local, or require the +1. Also include ability to see based on format (( i.e "ddd.ddd.dddd," "ddd-ddd-dddd", "(ddd) ddd-dddd" ).

Improve indexing management
The GUI for Index item/topic management is painful to use. For instance, looking for an item means constantly having to scroll and expand/collapse items in the topic list, mainly because it is so small and secondly because it auto-collapses all the time. This UI should be in a resizable panel, a search field could quickly narrow choices.

Allow file paths to be copied from the Missing Images pop-up window
When creating a Merged Document using Data Merge, InDesign displays a pop-up window if it detects any images missing from the Data Source. The Missing Images pop-up window lists the file paths of the missing images. In older versions of InDesign, the file paths could be copied directly from the pop-up window. This is no longer possible with the latest version of InDesign.
Being able to copy lists of missing image paths directly from the Missing Images pop-up window is valuable to me because I frequently use Data Merge to make merged documents containing tens of thousands of images. My…

In design is running dog slow. On my mac score 6 64 mgs ram. Also seems like everytime i use photoshop have to restart to use again

Retain font styles when copying/pasting text from Photoshop to InDesign.
I prefer to mockup print projects in Photoshop (including text) because I have faster/better control when I want to edit images and previsualize the end result. Once I have my final layout I switch to InDesign and replace the text so it's not bitmapped before printing. It would be great if I could just copy and paste the text from Photoshop to InDesign and it would retain the font style (size, weight, color, tracking, leading, etc) rather than having to make all of those adjustments by hand. Isolate levels in a group
Be able to double click to reach a group object but isolate all the objects in that grouping level, e.g:
You have a placed graphic with flyouts or annotations but if its grouped and more often than not you have to double-click edit and exit the group and keep double-clicking until you reach your desired object.9 votes -

Push Out Compensation for Perfect Binding on PDF Export
Being able to take a facing page document and adding an amount of cross over bleed from the spine and scaling that amount from the spine to the outer trim would be invaluable to my workflow for large perfect binding books. As it is now stands, I have to separate each spread to single pages and create bleeds towards the spine and move/scale each page to allow for artwork alignment in the final printing and binding.

Please allow font size larger than 1296 pt
I often have to create large posters with a single 3-digit price and 1296pt font isn't cutting it. I have to outline and then enlarge which is a pain when changes need to be made but it i also cannot standardize this element with a style, master page or template. Same for illustrator.

Endnote citation order
Looking to expand the scope of endnotes and footnote to include multiple stories in a document so that the citation order follows reference where it falls on the page, not just a single story.

gradient improvements when clicking on single color
On gradient palette, it could be useful to double double clicking on a pattern to change its color with a popup. Something like Illustrator or Photoshop
