Rename Hyperlink
Add the 'rename hyperlink' option to the 'edit hyperlink' window. I find it essential to identify hyperlinks by their names. But I often edit them. After I edit a link, and I want to rename it to better identify it, I have to open a new window just to rename it. This is quite inefficient.
2 votesIn the Hyperlinks panel, with the Name of hyperlink shown highlighted, clicking once more on the highlighted name enables you to ‘rename’ the hyperlink right there.
Hope this helps.

Defining areas and automating rotation of those areas.
I publish a paper that has content down the middle and 16- 2x3 ads in frames on the sides.(8 ads on left and 8 on right). Same goes for the opposite side of the paper. I rotate the ads each week so my clients get exposure all over the paper. I publish in several areas so I am manually rotating these ads each week and it takes a lot of time. It would be a HUGE time saver if I could automate this function based on my preset parameters. At the click of a button the ads all move to…

Form styles control within object styles
hi,
I am referring to been able to edit and adjust all of the setting you have available via the form pane for buttons, check boxes, radio, combo and so on via an object style. at least i think it should be under object styles. You should be able to control all of the forms options as a style so you don't have to select each one individually when the client has changes. for us doing elearning from indesign this is a must have when creating many text fields, combo boxes, check boxes and so on

Actions Panel
An Actions Panel that runs the same type of Recording/Playing features as Photoshop and Illustrator already have would be fantastic.
431 votesHello All,
Kindly provide more information about this ask. How do you plan to use the Action Panel in InDesign? Do you want it to work exactly like that in Photoshop? What are the most important actions/operations that you want to record?
Thanks

Style Application "Tool Tips"
When I create a "complex" style definition with a long set of embedded styles and a "next" style, I want my coworkers and contractors to apply the full style to the correctly selected copy by using the "Apply (style) then Next Style, Clear Overrides" option (right-click Style Name in the Styles Menu).
I would be great if I could attach a "Tool Tip" ("Style Application Tip?") to the Style Name in the Menu--it would appear on application of the style, or perhaps on rollover. Attaching the Tip to Templated Objects on the page would be great also.
Basically, I want…

Data merge should include a "Next Record" feature
Data merge should include a "Next Record" feature, like Word has. I want to merge data into InDesign, but I don't want to duplicate text boxes or pages. I just want to put the placeholders wherever they need to go (like in a table) and merge the data without having a text box for every record.

Re-separating the tool menu
You combined the tool menu in the right panel, but now I have to scroll down to the align section every time I want to adjust something. In InDesign, I'm mostly creating forms or schedules where I realign things constantly. It was more convenient before. Either put align at the top of the panel, or re-separate the panel. I can't drag align to the top of it either. If I could even just reorganize it, it would be better.

Global baseline shift
In version 14.0.2, we may select any character(s) in a single line adjusting baseline shift variously for each selection of characters. Having made specific baseline shifts, it would be nice to select the desired text and while preserving their relative differing baseline shifts to then globally raise and/or lower the entire line.
Currently, we are not able to do this. The attached shows that if I select the differing baseline shifted characters, InDesign's UI baseline shift incrementer becomes unavailable. I can globally reset the entire line imposing a single shared baseline value via text input, but this does not respect…

Hyphenation Options
Please add a checkbox (or something), so that you can turn off hyphenation of words that are connected to an em dash, and for words that already have a hyphen in them. And related to that, please always break hyphenated words/phrases/URLs at the hyphen, instead of adding another hyphen.
We currently have to search for all these "bad breaks" and this feature would be a big help.

disable "live-update" of cross-references
we are working on large document (about 600 pages) with many cross-references (over 3000).
This leads to a very slow performance and makes working with the document a real test of patience.
It would be great to have an option to temporarily disable the "live-update" of the cross-references!112 votes -
bleed check
Missing bleed" check? Kind of like missing font or missing link, with the "Go To" function so we can easily find missing bleeds through hefty documents?

Adobe PDF Presets / Transparency Flattener Presets " Convert Text To Outlines" Feature Not Working
In all previous versions of Illustrator and InDesign, when saving a PDF, I have been able to set my PDF settings to convert all text to outlines by checking "Convert All Text To Outlines" in my Adobe PDF preset. Since my recent update to 23.0.3, this feature is no longer working properly. The setting is still an option, however, upon save/export of the PDF, text is not converted to outlines as it previously was.
I have reached out to customer support for this issue and have been informed that this issue is "expected behavior of the software".
How is this…

Don't add an extra page when endnotes are imported
The new endote option is nice (could be better, but hey, it's something). The only thing that bugs me is the fact that a new page is added everytime I place text that contains endnotes, or when I copy/paste that text.
It screws up much of my design, and I have to manually delete the page and put everything back in it's right place.
Would be great if the endnote frame would just be placed on the same page as the end of the text flow!

Please add an Ink Manager indicator in Swatches panel
Add an indicator to Swatches panel, showing which swatches are affected by Ink Manager. Would help prepress and collaborators know the true story of document swatches.
NOTE: this has been proposed by other users, but I was asked to post this after I tweeted about it. So forgive redundancy. Or take it as a sign that it's a good idea. ;-)14 votes -
Eliminate document size limits
It would be great if there weren't size limit on documents. I am currently working on a very large design for a trade show booth. And I have to do it in Photoshop due to the size limits of InDesign. It is taking so much longer than it needs to because every time I try to transform or resize something, it takes 20 minutes to complete a small task Doing this in InDesign would be way better.
