  2. Break link to imported text or table

Option to create links when placing text or spredsheet files is great, but usually at the last moment it would be very handy to be able to completely brake link to one or more word etc documents even if they are missing. Best way would be able to sort all by document types on link window, select them and then break links. No embed etc. Just break it comletely.

  3. Ignore effects

Just like you can "Ignore text wrap" it would be very helpful to be able to "Ignore effects" on objects and text frames.

Often you have a lot of shadows and other effects that you don't want certain objects to be affected by.

In the example here I have put a dark outer glow on the text frame that I want to affect the background picture – but not affect the logo or the bar code box.

I know you can get around it with making sure that these objects are put on top of the text frame – or…

  5. Allow library swatches to be added to swatch palette

How is it that you can't tell the library to move one or all of your colors in a library into your swatch palette? This should be a standard feature.

  6. arrange/hide tools

The ability to arrange and hide tools like in Photoshop and Illustrator would be a massive productivity improvement for creators.

  7. "Share for review" FILTER & SORT comments

If 30 comments, I as a user would like to have "unresolved/unanswered" comments shown in bold. A small checkmark for each allows me to mark them resolved, thus they now showed as greyed out/ or crosslined.

I would like a filter to sort by
    STATUS: "unresolved/ resolved" and
SORT: by date or user name

  8. Uniform behaviour of Compound Paths in InDesign and Illustrator

Illustrator gives full control over Compound Paths.
Unfortunately, when copying those in Illustrator and Paste in InDesign,
the Compound paths often don't survive in the correct way.

Please let InDesign behave the same way as Illustrator.

  9. Show Cross-References

Under Type menu, have option to show cross-references, or have a way to show that something is a cross reference when showing "hidden" characters.

Currently after creating a cross-reference, it is very easy to lose it by typing over the text because nothing differentiates the cross-referenced text from regular text in paragraph.

Would also be cool if there were some sort of control feature as in "indexing" so that you could see all the cross-references that have been created. Very helpful in long documents.

    Thank you!

  10. Review: different positions for different clients

Create design previews or reviews for individual page areas for different users. For example, for a larger production, customer X is only interested in page 15, customer Y wants page 3, customer Z is only interested in page 85 at the bottom.... =) Hope you understand the idea

  11. Allow 'Find in Book' to search for text in all documents of an InDesign book

I am writing a book, using the InDesign Book feature.
My book has 18 chapters, each a different InDesign document.
I would like to be able to search for all occurrences of text, without having to open each document. I would like the results to be a panel something like Adobe Acrobat's Find in Files panel.

This is useful when I think I've written on a topic in some other chapter, and want to link text in the current chapter to the other chapter.

  12. Make assembling a book from already existing ind files more user friendly.

Going through all the pagination requirements in each document in the book is crazy. Upfront should be options to pick and sync a style, create book page numbering with chapter/sections starting on odd pages, blank pages added or removed as necessary. A series of dialog question should suffice.

  13. HOW TO FIX BLOCKED VPN BY WEBROOT?

Webroot is amongst the best antivirus software out there. It is used by millions of consumers across the world. Sometimes users report several issues like VPN is blocked by Webroot antivirus.

Once Webroot blocks the VPN, then it will restrict you from making a VPN connection. There are many antivirus programs available in the market, and most of them come with smart VPN services while others are overprotective, like Webroot. They block VPN connections that create issues for the users.

  14. Lock the ability of InCopy users to change things like kerning, leading and character compression

InCopy users sometimes take too many liberties with their abilities to change copy. Flowing copy is one thing, but shoehorning in more or less copy than intended allows for too much grey area, and it can take more time to go back and fix what they've broken than it would if that ability was limited for them. If InCopy settings in an InDesign document had check boxed that toggle which abilities InCopy users would have (and grey out disallowed settings), that would be wonderful.

  15. Set default image editor

When editing a lot of placed images, we have to specify the right editor each time, over and over. InDesign has to generate a long list of possible editors (and other apps that are never uses to edit a photo, such as browsers). This takes time.
Please make a preference to set the default editor - and a keyboard shortcut to load the selected image in that editor.

I know, we can tell the OS to open all images with e.g. Photoshop, but that is not a real solution, since it breaks some other workflows.

    Just give the possibility to…

  16. Object Layer Options to be part of Object Styles

Allow Object Layer Options to be included as an attribute for Object Styles.

Example: I have an annual report for a group of charities under one umbrella organization. It lists various projects the charities are working on. Some projects are operated by only one charity, some two, some all three. I have an Illustrator file with a graphic for each charity. I use Object Layer Styles to show or hide the symbols for each charity. I must use Object Layer Options for each use of this graphic to indicate which charity(s) are operating each project. It can be very time…

  17. Table

Hello, it would be nice to be able to energize a table that allows for example to change a price in a single operation when you have a brochure or catalog in several languages. A bit like Excell with his dynamic crossovers. Cordial greetings.

  18. Select (Menu)

    Selection Methods:
Select Menu like Illustrator and Selection Commands are required for Objects, Text, and Images (Raster)
Select All Object, Text, and Images in the Document, Spread, or on the Page
to move them on other Layers easily.

Other options (like Illustrator's Select Menu) should be added in this Menu.

  19. Preserve positioning data when pasting graphic from one frame to another

When I copy an image from one frame and paste it into another, I expect this action to preserve two sets of attributes: scaling factor and positioning data.

I get one out of two (scaling).

No offense, but QuarkXPress could do both back in 1990.

Why does this matter? Imagine a layout with a horizontal row of head shots, each in a separate frame of the same shape and size. Client says, "Oh, please move photo 3 to frame 10, and scoot everyone else up one frame."

I don't have to imagine this situation, as I'm currently working on a…

  20. Share for Review with indb

It would be amazing to have the chance to share and review all the documents included in one book.
We usually design magazines, which are made of many InDesign documents gathered in an indb book. We have to export a pdf so the editor can review the whole magazine. This is ok but manage the comments directly from InDesign would be a huge time-saving feature.
    Thanks!!
