Add Ligature on/off button to the available space for the character type panel
Due to the recent update (June 2025), there is now an open space for another button on the character style in the Control Panel. The design with the additional space is throwing me off when clicking on Superscript. Adding a button for turning Ligatures on and off would absolutely make life easier. Right now you can turn on/off in character and paragraph style panels, or you have to go to the drop down Menu in the Character panel.

Rounded Corners for Tables in InDesign
Dear Adobe Team,
As an InDesign user, I've encountered a limitation when designing tables in the software. Currently, there is no direct option to round the corners of tables, and this often leads to having to use workarounds to achieve the desired effect.
I kindly request that the ability to round table corners be added as a direct feature in future InDesign updates, similar to how it's already available for rectangular shapes. This would greatly enhance the user experience and make design workflows more seamless.
Thank you for your time and consideration,

Preserve Preview Checkbox Settings
After upgrades or patches, it would be nice to have the Preview switches in so many various dialog boxes preserved in the ON position.

Customise the context bar
The context bar contains functions that I can access much more quickly via a shortcut, so I don't find it useful.
It would be useful if the context bar functions could be customised.3 votes -
Too Much Pain and Harm: InDesign Find Interface Input Boxes with Too Little Font
Too Much Pain and Harm: InDesign Find Interface Input Boxes with Too Little Font
Too Much Pain and Harm: InDesign Find Interface Input Boxes with Too Little Font
If the lookup is simple and short, you may think it doesn't matter.
But the inner word is a little long, want to modify and need to find half a day.Wouldn't it be more comfortable to be able to freely enlarge the font?

Enable non-contiguous text selection (like in MS Word)
I work daily on customized graphic projects — brochures, flyers, posters, catalogs — where manual precision is essential. In these kinds of jobs, using styles and automation is often unnecessary or even counterproductive.
It’s quite limiting that InDesign does not allow non-contiguous text selection within the same text frame, a feature that has been available in software like Microsoft Word for years (Cmd+click on Mac / Ctrl+click on Windows).
Being able to select multiple non-adjacent portions of text and apply changes to them simultaneously (bold, size, color, etc.) would be a major improvement for those of us who work in…

ExtendScript on Apple Silicon device
ExtendScript Debugger (for Visual Studio Code) on device Apple Silicon works only with Rosetta
Using Rosetta slows down a lot...Is there a version planned that runs natively on Apple Silicon?

Show preflight errors not at the margin of the screen
Preflight is showing the locations of the errors it has found somewhere in the margin of the screen. Sometimes at the top, sometimes at the bottom (see screenshots).
This is a bit annoying when taking a closer look. Any chance to change this to "in the middle of the screen"?3 votes -
[ID-4261554] InDesign MacOS Sequoia Window Snapping Feature
I'd appreciate if InDesign would implement window snapping feature as well in macOS Sequoia since all other Adobe apps have this already.

A preset to limit your FONT view to preferred language, such as the one chosen by OS/region.
I have to use Noto Sans; Its required by my work at my University.
Is there a way to limit your font view to preferred language chosen by OS/region. My font menu is a mess of languages and it's hard to navigate to choose just "Noto Sans." Try it... really.. Try and Type "Noto Sans"... I never get the one I type it's always one of the other languages versions.
- So when a user choose their working language, InDesign offer them the right set of font.
Font lists are wayyyy tooooooo long to contain all the wolds languages by default!…

rename character and paragraph styles using a batch renaming feature
It would be incredibly helpful if we could rename character and paragraph styles using a batch renaming feature, similar to what is available in Bridge. This would be especially beneficial when creating accessible PDFs through a Book file. When the same style names appear across different files, it causes tag issues during export via MadeToTag, requiring manual adjustments to all the styles. Since we frequently work with a variety of documents, this process becomes quite cumbersome over time. Thank you so much!

Please stop Find/Change Font defaulting to Minion
Please please please stop defaulting to Minion in Find/change fonts. I know this has been suggested, but this is a constant annoyance! Can someone at least make this intuitive and default either to the main font of the document or the font family that needs to be changed. This could be an option within the tool.
For instance, if the offending font is, say, Adobe Caslon [nothing], it stands to reason that the user might want it to change to a valid Adobe Caslon. Not that this is certain, but it's likely. So if the suggested font is in the…

Cascading Character Styles
A bit like CSS.
e.g. create a Style to make text Red, and a Style to make text Bold.
These Styles can be applied individually, or both.
This allows to make text Red OR Bold + Red AND Bold, with only two Styles.3 votes -
Vertical Type
Please add a Vertical Type tool like the one that is in Illustrator and Photoshop. The method of typing each letter on a line and returning after each is fine, but more time-consuming than it needs to be. The other method, using Type on a Path with a straight line and the stair step effect, does not produce aligned text.

Setting for location of new text-to-image generated images
Can there be a setting option for the default location of new text-to-image generated images - I would like to be able to set this to the folder containing the current document rather than the user/documents folder. Thanks!

MathML Fonts Configure and CMYK color Usage
Hello Experts,
I have an doubt on how to configure the Math job fonts (e.g., STIX General and Mathmatical PI and Symbol fonts etc.,) to new feature MathML.
The most of the Books and Journals are typeset in base Job fonts, please guide me how to configure the fonts in MathML new feature and also is it possible to apply the CMYK color?
If we used in MathType it's very hard to manage the fonts, from system to system user editing the equations (eps format) if the fonts not installed and clash then the equations are shown empty box appeared…

In Find/replace be able to find specifically an upper or lower case version of the search
Several fonts have kerning issues. Specifically capital Y and lower case o like in words such as You. The Yo tends to look like Y ou. Lowercase usually looks fine. The request is to be able to find specifically a cap or lower case version of a letter or group of letters. In the Y o example putting a negative tracking on the Y will make it once again look like Yo without having to find and fix in excess of 80 You, yours, etc. per file.

Place Images Behind Text Without Outlines
Description:
In Adobe InDesign, there is currently no option to place images behind text without converting the text to outlines or paths. In Photoshop, this is easily achieved using layer masks and clipping masks. It would be highly beneficial to have a similar feature in InDesign, allowing users to place images directly behind text that can still be edited (font, size, and content) without converting it to outlines.Benefits for Users:
Increased flexibility and efficiency when working with text and images
Ability to maintain the editability of the text (users can continue to adjust font, size, and wording)
More intuitive…3 votes -
Please create an option in Layout > Table of Contents to "Clear Character Styles" for the "Styles in Table of Contents."
Currently (v19.5 in 2024), any Paragraph Styles used in the "Styles in Table of Contents" carry over any associated Character Styles, which makes a real mess of the ToC Entries. We can manually reapply the ToC style to the entries after updating the ToC, but there should be an option to automatically clear character styles from the Paragraph Styles added to the ToC.

Plug-in API to temporarily disable new feature guided tours
InDesign 2025 has several new panels (History, Math Expressions, Export to Adobe Express, Insert MathML) which have associated guided “tours” which bring up windows containing animation and/or an explanation of the new feature and how to use it. The menu items for these new panels that have available guided tours are indicated by a blue dot next to the menu item before the guided tour is viewed by the user. After the guided tour has been viewed, the blue dots next to the menu items seem to disappear. These new panels and their associated guided tours sometimes open without the…
