18.4 and 18.5 exported PDF corrupted
Hi guys,
Our books are printed in house with Xerox Nuvera 288 Presses. We recently faced this issue, and tho it should be addressed in 18.5 updated, we're still facing the same problem in 18.4 with 18.5 (Images attached below) where the whole book is printed out, but have left a single page blank.
In this example, this page 85 went blank every time we ran it through the press when exported with 18.4 and 18.5, but got no problem with 18.3. This error also happened to 9 out of 10 book titles (exported with 18.4 and 18.5) that we print, which is a major issues for our production.
The confusion is, all the content in the black page is text base, no special fonts or images, not font issue or errors came up when we exported it out what so ever. We reverted back to 18.3 and all the issues are fixed. I even reverted back to 18.1 and 18.2 to make sure our theory is right, and yes, 18.4 and the new 18.5 are versions that gave us the issue.
We don't know what actually cause the corruption since there was no error showed, or just the interaction issues between the PDF of 18.4 and 18.5 with the presses.
I also attached our export setting below (our export setting is unchanged, works completely fine with 18.3 and previous versions)
Cheers,
V
The fix of the issue is now available in the latest InDesign 2024(v19.5.0.084). We recommend you upgrade to the latest version for the fix.
If you are unable to see the update, go to the Creative Cloud application and click on the context menu on the top right and click on Check for App Updates.

The support page for the imposition software "FACILIS" that was previously introduced by CS5 omachi on this forum has been updated.

There appears to be an issue with PDFs created with InDesign 19.0, 19.1, and 19.2. -

InDesign version 19.2 did not solve this issue.

@Mike:
Thank you for guiding me there, I posted this issue on their bug discussions.But there also I haven't gotten any response so I demanding feedback further on until this is solved.
Manual redistill have to be only a temporal workaround. -

@Timo S.
Although this is not a solution, it may be worth signing up for the Pre-release and provide feedback that way. There may be some progress in the latest pre-release, but I haven't tested it myself. I wonder if the developers would be more responsive to notes in the pre-release versions.

We have continuous issues relayed from our customers in newspaper printing industry.
Please give some feedback to let us keep our customers informed about the status of this issue. -

We still have to take workarounds for this issue, which are tedious and impracticable for our customers.
Please give an update on your progress fixing this soon.
This is still ongoing. -

Our similar issue is still persisting. Some exported PDFs become corrupt in the new version unless we flatten transparencies. It also crashed multiple times trying to export the PDF. Version 18.3 does not have this problem.

I was happy to find an update to InDesign version 19.1
Unfortunately the exported PDF files are still corrupt.
Nothing hat changed. It is a real mess. -

The issue still persists and extends to interactive PDFs as well. Accessibility checkers like PAC won't accept tagged PDFs written from InDesign versions newer than 18.3. Please fix this.

For any curious, issue is still present in version 19.0.1.
Our shop is sticking with version 18.3 and disregarding any updates posted for InDesign until we see confirmation that this bug has been fixed. -

Thank you, for your update.

Ravi - It has been over 3 months since you have responded to this case and clearly more companies have found problems. In addition, the newest version of the software version 19.0 does not address or correct the problems. I know that I have supplied files as requested and I have to imagine that others have as well. When are you going to provide feedback on this? Like I stated last month there have already been large financial impacts to these problems that have been introduced. It has been 5 months since the release of the problem version and yet there is no fix (or acknowledgement that a problem was introduced) from Adobe.

Hi Adobe is anyone working on this issue? Version 19 of ID does not fix the issue. We are having problems daily as we are the ones trying to rip the files. The designers are blissfully unaware of the grief this has caused us since v18.5.
Help Please.
