Although this is not a solution, it may be worth signing up for the Pre-release and provide feedback that way. There may be some progress in the latest pre-release, but I haven't tested it myself. I wonder if the developers would be more responsive to notes in the pre-release versions.

Some exported PDFs become corrupt in the new version unless we flatten transparencies. It also crashed multiple times trying to export the PDF. Version 18.3 does not have this problem.

Our shop is sticking with version 18.3 and disregarding any updates posted for InDesign until we see confirmation that this bug has been fixed.Mike supported this idea · -

I was unable to export an InDesign file to PDF successfully until downgrading to version 18.3. We plan on staying on version 18.3 indefinitely to resolve the issue (since 18.3 does not have this bug)
After updating to 19.4, our issue appears to have been resolved. However, our needs for InDesign at my shop aren't as significant as others who have posted here. I would encourage others try this new version to see if it fixes the problem. I'm still hanging on to version 18.3 in case we start having problems again.
