InDesign performance issue: Text disappears while editing
When editing a text box, the text disappears.
I have to switch the display mode (Overview > Normal or Normal > Overview) to make the text appear again.
This bug occurs frequently (10~20 times a day) but I did not identify what is the trigger.
Build 22.214.171.124 x64

I'm also using an M1 Mac and thanks to this huge, obvious bug I can barely get any work done. This ought to be top priority for Adobe!

I just started a subscription to Adobe approximately 5 weeks ago on a brand new MacBook pro.
This bug is VERY frustrating as I've worked on a paid version of InDesign on an older MAC for years prior to now paying monthly for it.
This is happening to me almost every third time I change a word in a file. (11 Oct 2021) please help!
I get this issue constantly and it is infuriating and really interrupts my workflow. Try flowing/amending text within a brochure when the text box disappears every time I type! Aaah!

I've been having this problem since I started using my M1 Mac Air, no issues with the older model, even though it is several OS and iD versions behind my current machine.
Looks like a case of the update no one asked for screwing up the works.
Yes I have this problem with new 16.4 (iMac 24inch M1 chip – Big Sur). Seriously annoying. I am working on very intricate packaging copy and it's really slowing me down and leading to mistakes. Sort it out Adobe!
Still have this problem with 16.4 ! (Mac Mini M1 - Big Sur). Really annoying !

I am having this exact same problem, on my new Mac it's really annoying having to zoom in and out all the time to make sure the text is still there!!

I have this issue on a new iMac 24" but not on an older Mac. I don't understand how software developers can make things worse. It's just ridiculous that you release an update without making sure this works. Surely editing text is one of the primary functions of InDesign?
I also am having this issue and it is a real pain **********! I am using the latest of everything.

Also having this issue almost constantly. Impossible to do my job when I can't see what I'm editing.
I have also been having this problem with the latest version of InDesign 16.4. The text disappears while being edited and only reappears after zooming in / out. Changing quality of display seems to have no effect. September 23, 2021.
Also having this problem (Sept 23, 2021). I have yet to have an update fix this issue. InDesign 16.4, which CC says is up to date.
Seriously Adobe, when are you going to fix this? Why do you hate the M1 Mac so much? This is in a long list of buggy issues across the whole suite....
Yep, the bug exists as of September 22. Have to tab off, then back again, on and on...
Unfortunately this bug is still present in the latest prerelease: InDesign 2022 v 17.0.
Very disappointing. Makes InDesign virtually unusable.
Well, I have the latest version of InDesign from the Cloud and, is happening to me. It never happened before
So far there have bee 2 updates since I posted, and I thought all was fixed, but alas, my text is still disappearing. I have managed a couple files without issue, but today it happened again. I can't work like this as I have to backwards save all the files I have already done to work on my old machine (2015 MBP with IDCS5). It is disappointing
Ya, it's back baby, and bigger than ever.
16.4 on an M1 Mac mini.
I'm having the same problem - have to zoom in and zoom out or move the page to make it reappear... please fix! MacBook Air 2020 and Big Sur 11.5.2 - Indesign 16.4... HELP!!
