I have a multiple page text document in indesign, I want to spell check only the text in the panels, so manual selection is the best option in this scenario. But what happens is the spell checker always reverts back to document. how do you set it to stay on selection mode?

PDF export - massive file size difference between 143 and 144 dpi
I've been exporting a couple of display stand artwork pieces from inDesign cc19. My background flattened jpeg in the inDesign document is 200dp and the rest is a few vector objectsi. I export using the PDFX1a:2001 spec as this is what the printer requested. By default the file size for 1.07GB, which is huge. I adjusted the downsampling on export and found that setting it 143dpi produces a 15.3MB PDF, yet changing it 144dpi makes the file hundreds of MBs. So 1 dpi changes drastically how big the PDF output file size is. Why is this?

PDF Export Formatting Issue
I found that no matter what export options I use or how I format my file, it exports incorrectly. My content is in 2 columns on InDesign but when exported it seems pretty random how the PDF is structured (see the image).
This poses a problem for parsing software to be able to read the document in the correct order. It's common practice within most companies to use this for resumes. I'm sure it's also used elsewhere as well.
I've contacted support and they tried to resolve the issue by using my computer remotely. They found that this feature is not available.

content aware fit and EXIF information
Content aware fit works fine with landscape oriented pictures. And with pictures saved from Photoshop, even if in portrait mode. But when I place a picture in portrait mode which has not been saved by Photoshop yet, there is a problem: Content aware fit seems to ignore the EXIF information in the picture, and treats the picture as landscape-oriented.
I get the same problem when using portrait mode pictures in an ePub with flexible layout. So I think InDesign should read the information of a picture more accurate than it does now.
Similar but on a different part of the program: InDesign doesn't read colorsync profiles in pictures when they are not saved through Photoshop first. I disapprove this laziness, since Photoshop is perfectly capable of reading the information.Content aware fit works fine with landscape oriented pictures. TIff
Can't place TIF or PNG files into InDesign. The internet tells me that I can, however I've been trying for hours and it only works when I convert to JPG.
1 voteIt is possible to place TIF/PNG files in InDesign. No need to convert to JPG. We’ve tried this and it works for us.
To see why it is not working for you, could you share a sample TIF/PNG file with us (sharewithid@adobe.com)?Adobe InDesign team

Cannot export pdf from Adobe InDesign. Latest version. Latest Mac OS. Hasn't worked since September 2018.
I am beyond frustrated with Adobe. I cannot export a pdf from Adobe InDesign either conventionally nor when publishing online. I am running the Latest version. Latest Mac OS. Exporting hasn't worked since September 2018. This is debilitating to my business. I need a solution and not a workaround, please.

Pages overview lag and stutter when using alternate layouts
When using alternate layouts, navigation between pages is horrendous. Lag, stutter and erratic and unpredictable scrolling. Often the scroll bars "jump" or "skip", which makes it a nightmare to navigate between pages. This has been an issue for years.

Odd ruler behavior
Ran into a new issue with IND 14.0.1. When setting the display to picas, i got a "6" measurement in between the primary numbers -- it's not incorrect since there's 12 points to a pica but it's something that never happened before. it's a bug because right-clicking on the margin and selecting custom, i changed the value to 6 points, and then changed it back to 12 points, and then changed it back to picas. the odd "6" was gone.

overriding styles
Apply a style to some text.
Make some change to this paragraph which changes the layout of the paragraph in some way. For example apply a first line indent different from the one in the original definition.
Now remove the override (I always do this from the paragraph styles panel).
The override is indeed removed, but the paragraph doesn't redraw, and it's unreadable until I page up/ page down, which forces the redraw. This certainly isn't the end of the world, but it would all run a lot faster if this didn't happen. :)

Cmd + F (Ctrl + F) should not close the Find/Change dialog
Repro:
1. Cmd + F to open a Find/Change dialog. Don't close the dialog (with Done, or Esc, for example).
2. With the Find/Change dialog still open(which is fine; I plan to use it again shortly), resume typing into the document.
3. Click Cmd + F again. What I expect is that the application focus becomes the Find/Change dialog. But what happens instead is that the Find/Change dialog closes. I can't tell you how many times I end up mistakenly typing content into my document that I think is being entered into the Find/Change dialog instead. The simple solution here is that Cmd + F (Ctrl + F on Windows) should never close the Find/Change dialog. It should always open the dialog and assign focus to it if it was closed, and just assign focus to it if it was already open.

Table Resizing
I love the table feature in inDesign, however there is one behavior that I wish was different. When I go to resize a row or column it pushes all the rows/columns down rather than adjusting the space according to the size of the table box. I have found many times that I would prefer setting the overall table size and then it doesn't go beyond that.

In exported PDF, Hyperlinks jump to wrong page when their Text Anchor destination has moved to a different page due to reflow
Hi
In my InDesign file I have a Contents page with 10 hyperlinks to the first page of my 10 chapters. I created Text Anchor Hyperlink destinations on all 10 target pages, and then created Hyperlinks to them from the Contents page.
The document is 180 pages long and uses a Primary Text Frame, and all the text anchors are contained within the main text flow.
In 9 of these cases, clicking the hyperlinks in the exported PDF jumps to the correct page, but in one of them, clicking jumps to the NEXT page following the text anchor.
However, if I test the hyperlink within the Links panel, it jumps to the correct page.
If I jump to the destination by clicking the anchor in the Hyperlinks panel, this problematic link does jump to the correct page, but something is breaking in the export process which is causing it to jump to the wrong page when clicked in the PDF
I realise that this happens when new pages have been inserted and removed again as part of Smart Reflow, causing the text anchor to end up on a different page to the one it was created on.
Working in Indesign 14.0.1 on Windows 7 and viewing the PDF in Acrobat DC.
Thanks for your help!

Cannot place EPS image in empty box
InDesign 14.0.1.209
Mac OSX 10.14.3Placing an EPS file generated from "Barcode" (by AppsForLife) does not work properly if the target box is empty. If box already contains a graphic, the file will place properly via "Place" or drag+drop.
On a new image box or box where the existing image has been deleted, the following occurs (via Place or drag+drop):
Image will seem to appear in the target box. Once mouse button is released, the imported image is no longer in the box and the pointer changes to a "placement selector" prompting to place the image in a new box.
Working with the developer of the software that generates these EPS files seems to track the issue to a line in the EPS file. Removing the line that begins "%%HiResBoundingBox" in a text editor causes the EPS file to behave correctly.
The developer has issued an update to their software that seems to fix this issue.
Other in the Adobe discussion have tested the attached file. They have been able to repeat the problem on OS X 10.14 (Mojave) but not earlier MacOS or Windows installs.
Although the issue seems to be corrected with the EPS software update, it was suggested I file a report here.
I am unable to attach a sample file as .EPS is not permitted.
