Can no longer filter on fonts with lining figures
Adobe InDesign version 14.0.2
I don't know when this started happening, but it's a big issue. It's no longer possible to filter fonts based on lining figures (that is, filter out old style figures). Here's what happens:
- With a text box selected, I click the dropdown arrow next to the font name in the Control palette.
- I click the Filter dropdown.
- With no filters selected, the font list looks as shown in the screenshot I'm attaching called Unfiltered. That screenshot shows a mix of fonts that have lining figures and those that don't.
- I select just the Lining Figures filter.
What should happen: The list should just show the fonts with lining figures.
What actually happens: The filter filters everything out and the list just goes blank. Bah!!! I'm attaching another screenshot called "Filtered on Lining Figures."
I don't know what else I should attach - a system report of some sort? Please let me know.

Duplicating Page with table and copy/pasting a table changes content of table BUG?
Version: 14.0.2
I have a table that represents a linear calendar. Each month occupies a single row. I created a table to make the calendar, with each date in its own cell. I had some trouble figuring out how to make a new cell start at 1 for each month, as it wanted to continue from the last month's last date (...32, 33, 34, ...). I managed to make it work by changing the numbering options on each individual starting cell.
However, now when I try to duplicate a page containing the calendar, or if I try to copy/paste the calendar, the individual cell's formatting seems to disappear, as the numbering on half of them continue from the numbering on the previous row.
Steps to reproduce:
- Make a table with enough rows and columns to reproduce the consecutive numbering (For the months, most of my rows are 1-30) The columns represent the weekdays, repeating as many times as needed for the staggered dates.
- Select a cell in row 2 and add a blank character. I used 'End Nested Style Here' character per instructions from another InDesign user: Type>Insert Special Character>Other>End nested
- With cursor in cell, open Bullets and Numbering dialog. Select Number, put ^# in Number box, and Continue from Previous in Mode box. I also made sure the greyed-out box next to it said 1 (seemed to make a difference when I changed numbers). Then click OK.
- Follow the same procedure in a random cell on the next row, except in the Bullets and Numbering dialog you will this time choose a new list in the List dropdown.
- Repeat for all rows. Because I'm creating a calendar, the number list (1-30) staggers.
- Once the table is full, copy and paste it onto a new page. Then copy the entire page. For me, both produced the same result. 1, 2, 3,... was replaced with 31,32,33,... or 32, 33, 34... on some rows.
See screenshots for comparison.

1 voteTo identify the cause of this issue, we had started our investigation with the aim to resolve it. You might have also received email from us seeking more details to help in our investigation.
We’ve concluded our investigation and came up with the finding : Either the issue is fixed in the latest release of InDesign or the issue was intermittent in nature at the time of its reporting and is not reproducible now.
We recommend you to upgrade to the latest version of InDesign 2020 (if you’re not already on it). It contains a lot of stability fixes.
If you still face this issue even after updating to the latest version of InDesign, please submit the crash report to us. (The guidelines to submit crash are available at (https://helpx.adobe.com/indesign/kb/submit-crash-reports.html)
We seek your support in our continual effort to improve InDesign.—

Text variables consistently break export to fixed epub, resulting in crash.
When there are multiple text variables (say in a running foot, or TOC) the export to fixed epub causes InDesign to crash. When the variables are resolved to actual text, the export works fine. I tried this in InDesign 14.0.2 and also in the Beta Build (14.0.3.407) with the same (crash) result.

split layout view is changing so both views are the same page when I copy paste
Split layout view is changing so both views are the same page when I copy/paste. So the left is Page A, and the right is Page B. If I copy something from page A, then click on the right view to paste into Page B, the left view also becomes Page B. Rather than staying Page A. It didn't do this before, but it started a few months ago.

HTML export creates random "id" values for Object styles tags
When exporting html and I check include classes, InDesign generates "id" values for Object Styles.
This could be be useful if there was a way to define the "id" value, but there seems to be no way to do that. Nor is there a way to turn it off outside of unchecking export class

create outlines
v 14.02
In previous versions, when creating outlines, the newly converted text could simply be ungrouped and the "letters" could be moved and manipulated independently. Now the function is creating each line as a graphic with the only option of releasing compound path to separate the letters. This is hugely inconvenient in a larger block of text. Is this a bug or some new function/option that can be changed? Thanks!1 vote -

Editing type size from story editor is inconsistent
This is a bug, not an idea.
When I attempt to resize text by highlighting text within the story editor, the changes I punch into the toolbar do not always commit. I often have to make 2 or 3 attempts to get my changes to successfully commit.
This issue has been persistent over many versions of Indesign, over many Mac OSes.

erratic and missing cursor in text frames
My setup: Windows 10 Pro, InDesign CC 14.0.2 x64, Ben-Q monitor.
My cursor behaves properly when I use the Select tool, but when I use the Type tool, the cursor becomes very tiny outside of a text frame. If I click within a text frame, a vertical cursor blinks. However, to maneuver within the text frame, I need to use the cursor keys on my keyboard! I've tried changing the cursor settings for my system and restarting my computer to no avail. Please do not tell me to "trash" my preferences. I've spent a lot of time setting up a new document. Also, one past suggestion for similar bug reports was to change the system font size to 124%. The recommendation for my monitor is 250%. This bug is really slowing me down. Please advise. My setup: Windows 10 Pro, InDesign CC 14.0.2 x64, Ben-Q monitor.

Anchored item with white overprints
This is a 'white' bug.
I regularly use anchoring to keep items aligned and for spacing.
Text is black. Art or tables need white in them to knockout the shade beneath. When a table is placed inline or a piece of art is anchored in a text box that has a color or a border... the white is ignored in the anchored object.
There is no reason to ignore a color just because it is inline or anchored.
This bug forces me to layer the object on a different layer, causing extra work in keeping the item aligned after edits.

hyperlink is present for imported document outside of visible cropped area
I have 1 document (doc1) placed into another (doc2). In doc2, doc1 is cropped to not include a footer, which happens to have text in the form of URL, but not explicitly set as a hyperlink in the document. When a PDF of doc2 is exported, a hyperlink is created on the page where the URL would be if it were visible. The link is in the table at the end of the Jordan row over 0.086.

Tutorial sample files will not open
I've got version 14.0.2
In Turtorial, I click Get Files in order to download the files that carry the examples to be used in the tutorial. They download okay, but I can Open them (either from InDesign itself or by clicking the Explorer).
I get a dialog box reading:Adobe InDesign:
"Cannot open the file ".Applycolor.indd". Adobe InDesign may not support the file format, a plug-in that supports the file format may be missing, or the file may be open in another application."1 vote -
PDF Place only shows document - not generic PDF icon
BUG? CC 2019. When placing a PDF file we used to get generic PREVIEW icon which was preferred. Now every "place" only shows the actual contents of the PDF document. This is in the FILE -> PLACE -> "Choose PDF" dialog window
