InDesign-window "Missing Links in document" does not appear when Microsoft DFS-Links not available
SITUATION
We migrated our old Active Directory "OldAD.ads" to a complete new one "NewAD.ads"
We use InDesign CC2019 (latest Version)All out file-shares are mounted on client computers with Microsoft DFS-Links.
- Old DFS-Link: \OldAD\DFS\OldShare - The DFS-Links points to a share on our old fileserver: \OldFileServer.OldAD.ads\Share_OLD
All shares on the old fileserver are closed, so the DFS-Links have no destination but are still "available".- New DFS-Link: \NewAD\DFS\NewShare - The DFS-Links points to a share on our new fileserver: \NewFileServer.NewAD.ads\Share_NEW
Both fileservers hold "their" (Active Directory based) DFS-structure.
Of course, all users open their files on the new fileserver, shares are mounted via the new DFS-structure.
THE REAL STRANGE ERROR
As long as the old fileserver and old Domaincontroller are up, InDesign acts as expected: We open an old document, the windows "missing links in document" comes up, we fix the broken links, the document opens, everything is fine.BUT when I shut down the fileserver and the last domaincontroller, the following happens: We open an old document (containing links to documents, that were on shares mounted via the old DFS on our old fileserver), InDesign freezes and the mouse pointer circles. I waited up to 30 minutes, nothing happened. And now comes the really strange thing: When I unplug the network cable (no joke), the "missing links in document"-windows comes to front and I can fix the broken links after plugging in the cable again.
When I turn on the old fileserver and domaincontroller again, everything works fine again.I can reproduce this error on all our 4 InDesign-workstations. The error only appears when the broken path contains a DFS-Link and the link is not available any more - no matter if the "real" share behind the link is available or not.
The InDesign option "Ignore missing links when opening a document" does not affect the error, it happens when the option is set or not.SITUATION

Unusable actual InDesign CC 2019
Actually InDesign is not production ready. Every few seconds the beach ball spins. I found a workaround which is … well ok but not satisfying: As long as I work in the idml-file it works but as soon as I'm opening an indd file the program slows down extremely.
That can't be the solution! Why don't you see that?

When relinking multiple files Skip causes a cancel, not a skip
Version of Adobe InDesign, InCopy or InDesign Server
14.0.2.324Steps to reproduce the issues
1. Select multiple files in the Links panel.
2. Click the Relink button.
3. Click on the Skip button at the bottom of the dialogueExpected result
The current file is skipped an I can continue to relink other files selectedActual result
The relink process is canceledThere is already a Cancel button so the Skip button should provide a different result. It seems intuitive that Skip means Skip this file, but continue with the other selected files.

CC Library after last update now puts white box around all graphics
After the latest update, when I use my library to place a logo on a page in InDesign, it now almost looks like a white background PNG instead of the logo without any background. Running into printing issues with white boxes around all of our CC Library Graphics.

panels / windows won't open, InDesign doesn't launch 80% of the time
Honestly wasn't sure what to file this under. I am running the latest version of InDesign (version 14.0.2). About 4/5 times when I click to launch InDesign, it bounces for several minutes and then nothing happens... and then it stops bouncing and the dot under the app also goes away, yet the app says its open - still no windows. Eventually - usually after about 10-15 minutes of waiting - I have to right click, quit, and start again.
But this is the part that really bothers me: When it finally does open properly and loads a document, many of the panels just will not open even after I select them from the menu. Most of the time I can't open any windows or panels within the app. And I NEED to be able to open the glyphs and corner options panels, but I haven't been able to open them for over a month, and I use this program on a nearly daily basis. Additionally, the color picker tool within the color popup does not work, but the regular tool within the toolbar does. I also have issues with the align and distribute options appearing and disappearing from the top bar. The options disappear after selecting an object, changing windows or navigating to a different app momentarily, and they will not reappear unless I click the gear icon of the panel and confirm the options again. Sometimes this doesn't work and then I have to quit and reopen the whole thing again.
I'm running Mac OS High Sierra 10.13.6. I am going to have to uninstall and rollback to the 13.1 version of InDesign for now because I have clients waiting and I need to turn stuff over faster, but if more information is needed I can reinstall. Never had this issue in the 2018 version, but it's been a regular occurrence in the past few updates.

roman punctuation
It would be great if InDesign had a Roman punctuation (hanging punctuation) option similar to Illustrator, where it was set with a toggle. The optical alignment in Story is useful; however, the Illustrator implementation of hanging punctuation is useful in many situations, too.

Not able to create new guides
I am seeing many issues with the new updated InDesign - it seems a lot of the issues are solved if you have no browsers open. But let's be honest that is ridiculous! First I was not able to scale items proportionately while holding down the shift key. Now I can't create new guides, however the minute I close out all my browsers this functionality begins to work.
Please fix the many conflicts between INDD and the web browsers. I am on a MacBook Pro using High Sierra. The conflicts appear when either Chrome or FireFox are open. I need to be able to use my CC programs along with my browsers at the same time - hope these issues can be resolved quickly.
Thanks

Effects appearing in wrong place when exported to PDF
My Case Number: ADB-6422050-V1R6
I've been exporting a document which uses the bevel/emboss effect. Part of the element is outside of the frame of the document. The effect on the part of the element outside the frame is being moved into the frame when I export it into a PDF. In the screenshot, you will see that in InDesign, the yellow pad is completely yellow on the left inside the frame of the document, but the edge of the image outside the frame is white; when you view in preview mode you don't see the white. However, in the screenshot of the PDF, you will see white on the left edge of the yellow pad, which does not appear in InDesign. There's no reason for it to be in the PDF.
Thank you.

Anchored Object Lock/Prevent Manual Position Override
The Prevent Manual Positioning creates a Locked Object, but unlocking the widget doesn't remove the Prevent manual override.
When you check to "Prevent Manual Override" an anchored object receives a lock adornment. An object Style can be created from this object. If that lock is unlocked the Object style shows as override, but the "Prevent Manual Override" is still checked.
If the object style is redefined. The lock adornment is still unlocked, and the "Prevent Manual Positioning" is still checked. Reapplying the style locks the object.
There should be more consistent behaviour of "Prevent Manual Positioning" and the "Lock". Even though they are similar they are not the same. If checking "Prevent Manual Positioning" activates the Lock. Unlocking should also uncheck "Prevent Manual Positioning".

Can't move anything with selection tool
Mac OS Sierra v 10.12.6 and Indesign 2019
Since yesterday I can't work. I can use the selection tool to move things around. I only can move things using the X and Y boxes or the arrows. It is impossible to work. Who do I have to call? There is no solution anywhere, after trying so many things. I finally installed and then installed back InDesign and nothing has changed.2 votes -
Indesign 14.0.1 pixellated output in export to PDF
Indesign 14.0.1
Export to PDF using press quality job option does not produce high quality images the way the previous version used to do and all ends up pixellated at screen resolution only. The only way I know of producing press ready files is now to "package book for print", in which case, if you select your usual press ready PDF option, the conversion definitely works.2 votes -
Split window re-scrolls after returning from other app and changing other window
I am running Adobe InDesign CC 14.0.1.x64 on Windows 7 with latest updates (i.e., the most popular platform in the world).
- Open the document (see attached).
- Split the window (Window > Arrange > Split Window).
- Scroll the left window to show page 2, with the Table of Contents.
- Scroll the right window to show e.g. page 3, with the cursor in the middle of the page.
- With the Type tool active, click the Enter key.
- InDesign correctly inserts a new paragraph, with the left window remaining unchanged.
- Alt-Tab out of InDesign.
- Alt-Tab back into InDesign. The Type tool should still be active, with the cursor in the right window.
- Click the Enter key again. Expected Behavior: Same as Step 6, including that the left window is unchanged. Actual Behavior: Same as Step 6 PLUS the left window scrolls.
Sure, after coming back in with Alt-Tab, I can click the left window before making changes in the right window, but that's a pane.
Contact me if you want the InDesign document I used. This interface says, "Invalid file type: .indd files not allowed." !!!

Accessibility-Tag Tree-Data Merge
ID 14.0.1, Mac Pro, Sierra 10.12.6
Tags are not in proper order in exported PDF
Using Data Merge to create many pages of text and table from large Excel file Col A-FF. Each row produces one page. The first section of the page tags are at the top of the tag tree, followed by the first section of each successive page. Then the Next tags (from the tables) are listed, again by successive pages.
To remediate, all (table) tags have to be moved to the proper page.2 votes -
InDesign 2019 is not finding missing fonts - preflight does not find it and "Find Font" either, but discovered it with Flattening a PDF
InDesign 2019 on MacBook Pro 10.14.3 - "Find Missing Font" is not working. It said all was good. Even the Preflight (with Font Missing checked) said all was error free. But when I exported the file to a pdf and ran the flattening feature, it found the 2 missing fonts--both were TTFs. So I went back to Font Book to add those fonts. All was fine then, but why didn't InDesign tell me there were missing fonts?
