Please read the comments. These are not from people using the Flash Player. You can link to mp4 videos and export them to HTML, EPUB, and/or Publish Online.

Yes, by all means remove the Flash Player message and the rmtp protocol, but keep the http protocol (and add https).

Just as animation in ID was developed for the Flash Player, but is now supported by other formats, this Video From URL feature still has important relevance beyond the Flash Player.

Removing this feature is throwing out the baby with the bath water. You don't have to remove something just because the UI includes a message about the Flash Player. Just remove the text that mentions the Flash Player.

It lets me distribute a useful sample document without bloating the installers.

Many in5 users use Video From URL for the same reason, it shrinks the size of their output. In some cases the video is already hosted on another server (but the server doesn't provide an iframe embed).

Replying to Ravi K's comment above: "expects the video to be compliant with Flash Player" is very different than "requires Flash."

That is like saying "The peg must fit through a square hole." A round peg CAN fit through a square hole, if it is small enough, yes? But then you come back and say "no, the peg must also be square."

In this case, very few people used Flash video with this feature… most people who used it (which is not many, but some!) used .mp4, which has nothing to do with Flash. (Except that it is compatible with it.)

Adobe, in future can you provide a list of features that you have decided to throw away and the reason behind the decision? Failing that, could you ask in the prerelease forum whether anyone's using it and how? That's partly what the forum is for.
