Export PDF, cannot cancel background task

Sometimes, there is no way to cancel a background pdf export task.

No way to close the document either, only hard quitting works.

Thank you for your support. The issue is now fixed in the latest update of InDesign.
Please upgrade to the new InDesign 14.0 from your Creative Cloud Application.

If you are unable to see the update yet, click on the menu (three dots) on the top right corner of Creative cloud app and click on “Check for App Updates”.

    Am still experiencing this exact issue with the v14.0 update. File didn't finished exporting after sitting all night and now ID will not close.

    Beware though, InDesign 14 still crashes on long document background task exports (as it did in v13), and the disablebackgrounexport.jsx workaround that worked in InDesign 13 appears to not function in 14.

    A note - all files and fonts local. After doing editing, at some point the file goes corrupt on (typically) one or two pages. Those filels will no longer package, export to IDML or PDF, or even display the bad page.
    With such files, have to rebuild from previous version of file.

    on my install - Win 7, ID 13.0.1, uninstall including preferences and reinstall on 2/2/2018, does when doc becomes corrupted?
    When PDF export hangs, can't quit background task.

    Every time I try to export an InDesign document to an Adobe pdf (Print) I get the following issues:

    - The pdf won't export
    - The background task gets stuck at 18%
    - The program won't allow me to cancel background tasks
    - The program won't let me quit

    However, when I switch to exporting to an Adobe pdf (Interactive), everything works fine! Help?!

    That is not the case on my iMac 27" 2017. I have all files stored locally.
    Every second time I make an PDF print export, the background indicator just keep spinning and spinning. I can't cancel the task - neither close the document (thus it is working in the background). So a force quit will do, and the first time the export wil work just fine. The second time it fails ...

    I have already sent email with this information (3.11.2017).
    When I generate pdf I'm using links on local drive. Before I generate pdf I make package to ensure all files are in one place.
