I'm also a Mac user, just not for Adobe software, and I wonder why someone with upper and lower monitor would set it up as side by side, which means left and right, and not top/bottom.
Also, what's the problem in the first screenshot? -

Same here. Happened to me when a font weight was created by using character styles on a font that doesn't have the particula weight. The problem would be solved using Find/Replace Font, but the activation then would keep running until you close ID and perhaps start again when opening the document again. The main problem is that there is no timeout.

This sound like a configuration problem. Better write that in the Indesign forum to get help.

You probably mean cross-refs to other documents which actually is a no-go. But, yes I second that, as it can be a PITA.

Indesign is not slow with 30 cross-ref if they all point to inside a document. It will become extremely slow when a cross-ref points to an external document which doesn't exist or has been renamed. This is a general bug, one that has been in ID since like ever.

Indesign 2024, Windows 10.
Problem 1: even with Adobe Fonts being activated, ID 2024 starts to activate fonts it finds in \Fonts folder, doing that for good and the tasks cannot be canceled.
Problem 2: other tasks, like PDF export, are then queued and cannot be processed at all unless you could move them up the queue, which doesn't work.
