Placed PDFs and Images Not Rendering
I'm on InDesign 2022 (17.2) and have started recently having issues with placed images and PDFs after an update. I have a 2021 silicon Mac Mini for Travel and an Intel 2019 iMac for home use. Both on Monterey 12.3.1
The rendering issue began after certain documents originally worked on in the silicon version had issues when opening in the Intel version.
This happened with both images (TIFs, JPGs) and PDF files. After placing the files in InDesign (in the mac mini) they rendered fine. Upon opening the files though in InDesign on my iMac. The renderings did not appear.…

Persistent graphics issues
There are STILL graphics problems in Indesign 17.2. Things disappearing off the screen that don't reappear unless you try and move them (zooming in and out doesn't work), streaks appearing across the screen.
I am so bored of the constant bugs in this app.

Column Rules will NOT overprint when option [x] Overprint is checked and color is NOT [Black]
Use a swatch like CMYK 0,0,0,100 or CMYK 0,0,0,90 or CMYK 100,0,0,0 for a column rule and turn on overprint.
Overprint attribute will not applied to the column rules.
Tested with InDesign 17.1.0.50 on Windows 10.

resize document view
I am using Indesign 17.2. When I try to resize the art board by clicking on the bottom right corner, the whole thing automatically becomes larger than my screen so that I have no way to adjust it from there.
The uploaded image shows the bottom of my screen without any way to access the bottom of the document.

Opening a document now causes lag for about 30 seconds, where I have no control
- Version of Adobe InDesign: 17.1
- Steps to reproduce the issues: a. Open document from the Mac Finder. (This lag happens whether I start with InDesign open or closed. b. I have zero control of anything while a progress indicator spins for about 30 seconds. c. A font error dialog pops up, and then I can finally control InDesign, starting by dismissing that dialog. Expected result: I expect instant control of InDesign, since my computer isn't that old and it's a pro model. Actual result: Slowness, lag - way too much, considering most of my documents are 8 pages long with…

Bug: Table/cell styles don't define cell height and character format
Indesign CC 2020, v17.1
The dialog to create a new cell style doesn't have a definition for the cell height (value "At least" / "Exactly") like we find it in the table properties panel. Table styles also don't define cell height and that is all we can use. If you adjust the cell height manually and redefine the cell style, it's also not submitted. So there is no chance to format an entire table just by selecting a table style.
Next is characters. If there is supposed to be text in a table, that text gotta have a style. Since…

M1
I have issues with basic tasks in InDesign. I ordered a new MacBook Pro 16, M11 Pro, 16GB Ram, 1TB SSD
And just scrolling around in InDesign gave me the rolling spin. After updating to the newest indd Version and newest MacOs Version it did get better with small files, and moving a textbox worked finally.
But working with a bigger magazine file with 50 pages is not doable.I ordered a second m1 pro (same config) as thinking it might be a Hardware Issue. Same result.
I made a clean wipe of MacOs, only installed CC and Indd (and…3 votes -
Cross reference broken by InCopy
A text element with cross references is added to an InCopy assignment. (The cross reference utilises the paragraph number - just in case, this should be important.)
After editing any text (not part of the cross reference source itself or the target paragraph) in InCopy, the cross reference is broken in InDesign. Same, if you change the target paragraph.
This happens in InDesign/InCopy 16.4 as well as 17.13 votes -
InDesign 17.1 not working properly
InDesign (17.1) is acting very strange for the last two months. When I click on File, Edit, View or any other topic, the tab does not open. I cannot access any action under those tabs. Also, when I eventually get to work with my document, it is extremely slow to save. It turns, and turns forever. I've been working with InDesign for over 20 years and it's the first time I have so much trouble with the software. How can that be fixed?

BUG - Frame Fitting Option not saving Fitting:None
InDesign 16.4
When using frame fitting options > Fitting: is not retaining the option 'None' but defaulting back to 'Fill Frame Proportionally' when checking the frame fitting options.
Select a frame.
Choose Object > Fitting > Frame Fitting Options.
Select Auto-Fit> Fitting:None > Align From: Centre and then click OK:
Then Choose the same Object > Fitting > Frame Fitting Options. and the Fitting: has not saved 'None' but reverted back to 'Fill Frame Proportionally'.
I have to do this multiple times before it saves the correct Fitting:

Linked Image Canvas Resampling Pixelated Issue
When a linked image canvas size greatly exceeds the image frame size, the linked image is pixelated in both the InDesign preview and the PNG export. JPG exports do not exhibit this issue.
Please note in the attached images two different linked PSD files. The file on left is cropped to the extent of the rasterized letter 'a'. In the file on the right, the rasterized 'a' has the same pixel dimensions as the first, but the Photoshop document canvas is much larger. This results in a poorly resampled PNG export.

17.0.1 crashes adding links
Every time I try to add or change a link in the links panel, InDesign crashes.
I restart InDesign and it tells my my file might be damaged. Do I still want to open it.
I open it. All seems ok. Try to change a link again, and InDesign crashes.
This is so frustrating!!

indesign cc 2021 16.0.1 STILL does not preserve styles text formatting
Indesign cc 2021 16.0.1 STILL does not preserve styles text formatting DESPITE being checked in preferences whether being placed from word OR copy pasted from a document that has the formatting and styles (in this case, Apple's Pages having opened a word doc.)
No matter what, it does NOT keep formatting of text being imported/pasted/placed into an open indesign document.
what gives?

2021 variable font repeatedly unavailable causing InDesign to freeze
In InDesign (version 17.0.1), I am using Acumin Variable, which initially shows up with no issues. However, InDesign begins freezing and minutes later, a pop up notification says the variable font is unavailable. This has been on-going and other designers I collaborate with are experiencing the same problem with this font.

pages breaking and vertical lines on screen
When i am working in any document since updating to Indesign 17 including the recent 17.0.1 the pages start to get vertical lines and horizontal lines, and the design elements start overlapping or having duplicates, tables will not display as aligned, trying to select text and my curser is really clicking 2 lines above. If i click "W" to toggle between Presentation view and back sometimes that will fix some of it and other times it will make it worse. I have attached a few screen shots to show how it will display different pages. When i go to export…

Unable to delete PDF comments
In Indesign 17.0.1, I have a few book files in which once I import PDF comments and apply them, I cannot delete them. Also if I choose to filter the comments by "unresolved" once I resolve or apply a comment, it does not disappear as it should. File now has multiple rounds of comments that need to be deleted to make way future rounds of revision. Also finding that applying the comments is VERY slow and buggy (this book is ~300 pages).

De-Stick Alt Key After Zoom
When I press and hold the ALT key (Windows) to zoom with the mouse wheel, it doesn't release the way a sticky key should - once finished with mouse wheel zooming, I have to tap the Alt key a -second- time to release it. Not doing this results in the menu bar becoming active. Example: Press and hold Alt and zoom with the wheel. Finish zooming and release the sticky alt key. Now Tap the letter W to enter Preview mode ... but instead of Preview Mode, InDesign will drop down the --W--indow Menu, tapping W again then drops down…

spelling
Hi, I just want you to reach out for me to the Developer team and Interface Design team of InDesign. Please tell them, that the spelling function on InDesign should undergo major improvements. It literally sucks. I've been using InDesign since 2007, and the web application, basically any, like Google, deepL, Grammarl, I think even OpenOffice... are much better. So in this matter, InDesign was never the first choice, more like the last.
-The first major problem it is very counter-intuitive to turn it on and make it work.
-the second, which describes the bug, I have changed my Spelling…3 votes -
Using a variable font and exporting to PDF results in corrupted outlines in text
When using a variable font in InDesign v17.0.1 and exporting to PDF, the resulting file contains text with corrupted outlines. '.notdef' boxes get inserted into some glyphs as can be seen in the attached PDF.
This error also occurs in Illustrator.
When exporting to PDF using a non-Adobe application, no errors are seen.
Errors occur only when using variable version of the font an not the static versions.
Additional information and test fonts have been sent in an email to Josh Hadley.
