InDesign Slow in MacOS Catalina when using a calibrated screen profile.
I am an experienced user of Adobe products for over 20 years. My current subscription is to Adobe Creative Suite (full). I am using a Mac Pro running MacOS 10.15.7 (Catalina) on NVMe SSD with 48 GB RAM and AMD 5700 XT GPU with 8GB VRAM. All Adobe apps are up to date.
If I use a calibrated screen profile, InDesign becomes extremely slow, so that every selection of a menu item, every key-press, every pan or drag, becomes incredibly slow.
This fault is independent of document size (it happens with a new document, with one blank page). It is…

IndexOptions are lost in IDML when you use styles in a style group
Version Indesign 2020
Steps to reproduce.
1. Create a document with an index
2. Create styles for the index in a style group
3. Generate an index with the styles that are in a style group
4. Save as IDML
5. Open the IDML
6. Try to generate the indexExpected result: The settings/options in 'Generate Index' are kept as they were in the original file.
Actual Result: The options are reset to the default styles, not the styles inside the style group.

Converting footnotes to endnotes removes inline styling
InDesign 16.0.1
macOS 10.14.6Currently if using the 'Convert Footnotes and Endnotes' function, any inline styling of the text contained within the footnote is being removed. Eg text which is formatted as italic is being converted into non-italic etc.
Fortunately this doesn't appear to affect any character styles which have been applied, but it still creates a very high risk of losing formatting.
Ideally conversion from footnotes/endnotes should not alter the content.

Option bar on Save and Place windows
Since the recent update to 2021, when I save, export, or place image, the window that opens is so small and there are now options at the bottom that I don't need and the area to select a file is only big enough to see 3 or 4 files.
Can you make this window larger so you don't have to expand the window size or hide the options every time? It gets monotonous.

Save as... Open, Place... dialog panels too small
In Big Sur, the Save as... (cmd-S) Open (cmd-O) and Place... (cmd-D) dialog boxes are too small. They only offer between three and six lines of text. However, you can drag the panel out to see more folders/files, BUT, it doesn't stick. When you've closed the dialog and open it again, it has reverted to the smaller size.
Photoshop doesn't seem to suffer with this issue, but Illustrator does.

The "spinning ball" when working with a graphic box!
I have a serious problem! My InDesign 2021 (version 16.0.1) shows the "spinning ball" every time an image is placed into the graphics box, as well as when duplicating, copying, pasting the image box (with an image inside), as well as when updating the image in the graphics box. The "spinning ball" is shown every time for 11 seconds. However, the image type (psd, tiff or eps / ai / pdf) does not matter. Working with such a performance bug is very difficult. Adobe, I demand to fix this as soon as possible!

InDesign index entry dialogue box virtually unusable
Have been using the indices extensively on a project - rarely use it this often - and can't help but notice the size of the dialogue box makes editing virtually impossible. The entry is barely 15-20 characters wide, when a lot of entries I have are more than 50-60 - some 100 or more. Could really use a much better dialogue box - and the index menu itself the type is much too small to work with easily - almost going blind using it! Thanks.

InDesign file size out of control
Working on a large 2500+ document and any time I open and make even a minor update - just updated the TOC automatically - the file balloons from 48MB to over 72MB in size. Unnecessary. Please get this under control. Thanks.

InDesign no longer automatically returns to source folder
Noticing with the recent updates that InDesign no longer returns to the source folder when opening files and/or importing content. It throws me somewhere else... sometimes root user folder [of no use] sometimes a folder I used days ago, very unstable implementation.
InDesign has a temp file associated with it - you open an InDesign layout - it creates a file with a garbled filename - no other apps do this, just InDesign. Why does it not use this temp file to help it locate where it should point to?
I'd really rather eliminate the temp file altogether. Can it…

No one else can open my files
I've had several recent designs that I've been the author on, that when I share the working file can't be opened by other users. This has occurred with a company work design file and a personal project design. In both cases, these files were made with InDesign 2021 on Windows 10. The other users that tried to access my files were on Macs (unknown OS) using InDesign 2021 as well. This is problematic and damaging to workflows if other users can't open and work in files created by someone else.
PS. It is unclear if this is an issue between…

command tab
I'm finding that InDesign is breaking Command+Tab (app switching) in Big Sur, from 11.0 to 11.1, the current version.
Quitting InDesign brings it back, and simply booting InDesign breaks it. Leaving it open in the background once broken keeps Command+Tab broken until I quit InDesign.
I went through Keyboard Shortcuts as well as Apple's Shortcuts and found nothing conflicting.
All 2021 version, and all MacOS 11 versions.

Unable to rename sublayer while panel is docked
In InDesign 2001 16.0.1 for Mac (and possibly other versions) it is not possible to rename a sublayer when the layers panel is docked.
Changing sublayer names is only possible when the panel is floating. The sublayer name should be editable whether the panel is docked or floating.

CAT does not import an IDML which seems to have empty stories
Hi, I need to import the attached document into my CAT Tool. But, once the document is exported, it seems empty. I noticed that the files have empty stories; all the text seems to be stored elsewhere. This is the first I have seen IDML files like this. Could you tell me, if the designer have missed sth? Best.

Save Windows on Mac OS
NOTE: This is a problem not just on InDesign, but also on Illustrator and Photoshop as well.
Ever since the last upgrade for macOS Big Sur (ver 11.1), save, package and export windows have a serious issue. They don't show the pathways of the files even when you have it set to do so. Instead all you see is the options for what to include or any other information at the bottom of the window (see the attached screen shot).
Even when you enlarge the window to be able to see the paths, it does not retain the memory that…
