  1. [ID-4272090]Blank Save As dialog is displayed

    Thank you for contacting us and bringing the issue in the latest release of Adobe InDesign to our attention. We sincerely regret the inconvenience this has caused and fully understand how disruptive such interruptions can be to your workflow.

    Our preliminary analysis indicates that this issue may be an isolated scenario. We have identified a workaround that can help resolve the issue.

    Please rename the following folders:

    – Rename the CEP folder to CEP.old from:

    • macOS: /Library/Application Support/Adobe

    • Windows: C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Adobe

    If that doesn't help, rename the UXP folder to UXP.old from:

    • macOS: /Library/Application Support/Adobe and ~/Library/Application Support/Adobe

    • Windows: C:\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe and C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Adobe

    Once done, relaunch InDesign and check again.

  2. Effects not working

    InDesign 20.5
    Inserted an image
    Trying to apply effect - soft light to the image and the image disappears
    The only effects working are Multiply, High Light, Darken, Difference, and Luminosity

  3. windows explorer crash after closing Indesign

    all our machne have same symtoms, everytime we do copy and paste between pages on indesign, our windows explorer crash or after we close our indesign.

  4. Opening document message stuck when opening a document

    ID 20.5 on Mac Sequoia (M4 Pro).

    1. Open a document by double-clicking the file.
    2. The document opens.
    3. The "Opening document message" remains stuck in the display.
    4. The only solution to exit from this situation is to close ID.

  5. InDesign process dies after 3 minutes

    I'm facing the following problem. I'm on a new Windows 11 (24H2) and have Creative Cloud and various apps like Photoshop (26,11), Illustrator (29.8.2) or InDesign (20.5) installed. Every app works fine except InDesign. No matter what INDD file I work on, what menu I'm in or if I just leave the app open showing the start page, after 3 minutes the InDesign.exe dies. I've checked that I have the latest updates, reinstalled it, removed all presettings of previous versions, tried to run as admin and in compatibilty mode. Nothing changes.   6. InDesign hangs constantly during normal editing with no CPU spike, on very fast win. 11 laptop with plenty of memory and drive space.

    When using InDesign normally (editing text, copying, pasting, rearranging objects, etc.). I am not saving, exporting, or anything, CPU does not spike, there is plenty of memory and disk space, it is a new high end laptop, it is plugged in, there are no power save features on.

    This didn't happen on my older win 10 machine and in older versions of InDesign.

    This SEVERELY interrupts workflows as it happens at least once every 15 min or so if not more.

  7. [ID-4265787]InDesign 20.4.0 and above freezes when connected with Enterprise VPN

    Impossible to work with the latest version of InDesign 20.5. The screen freezes after a few second work. Only "end task" on Task manager is closing the program. (Working on PC under Windows 11 Enterprise)
    Only solution in the meantime is to switch to Version 19.5.5.

    The fix of the issue is now available in the latest InDesign 2026(v21.0.0.192). We recommend you upgrade to the latest version for the fix.

    If you are unable to see the update, go to the Creative Cloud application, click on the context menu on the top right, and click on Check for App Updates.

  8. Window Explorer made unusable by opening InDesign

    InDesign Ver. 20.5

    Here's an odd one. InDesign doesn't appear to be crashing or freezing, itself, but it is instead making my Windows explorer taskbar unusable. I can't select any icon pinned to it--they won't even highlight when I cursor over them--and only opening and closing the task manager will make them selectable again. I've tried to replicate this happening with other programs, but it's only happening when InDesign is made active.

    Can't seem to figure out what's triggering it, but it tends to happen on start-up of the program and at random intervals while using InDesign. Suddenly…

  9. CRASH

    I downloaded the last version of adobe indesign. I also updated my Mac software. when I open indesign it opens normally, I can see the home page and even try opening a new file, choosing sizes and stuff. Once I click on create a little bar appears (its a floating bar that's always there when a file is open) but the rest of the page looks like the menu still. Im 100 sure its only indesign because illustrator works well

    I'm using [InDesign] 2025 in a Japanese environment. I mainly use it for book [DTP] and [Epub3] export.
    I'm experiencing a very frustrating issue.
    When editing paragraph styles and character styles, the program freezes for about a minute with each edit. When editing styles, I make changes in several places, which takes several minutes, making it extremely inefficient. In [InDesign] CS6, this process was instantaneous.
    Please fix this as soon as possible.
    Note that this editing freeze does not seem to be related to the size of the open document. It occurs even with small documents.

  14. [ID-4264967] ExternalObject("lib:PlugPlugExternalObject") now throw an “I/O Error”

    IOError: I/O error occurs when calling new ExternalObject("lib:\PlugPlugExternalObject") after updating to InDesign 20.4 on macOS 15.

  15. InDesign 2025 (v20.3.1) freezes when interacting with modal dialog panels on macOS 15.5 (Sequoia)

    Hi Adobe team,

    I’m experiencing repeated, non-reproducible hangs in InDesign 2025 (v20.3.1) when interacting with certain modal dialog panels — such as Panel Options, Color Panel settings, and similar. This occurs on macOS 15.5 (Sequoia). After clicking inside one of these dialogs, InDesign sporadically becomes unresponsive (beachball), requiring a force quit via “Force Quit Applications.”

    The issue existed before a complete clean install of macOS and continues to occur even after the fresh system setup with no migration or prior settings carried over.

  16. Bug: Indesign completely hangs when it cannot save file to network drive

    Windows 11, Indesign 20.2
    Problem summary: when saving a file to a network to which the connection is lost during that save action, ID completely hangs and might also block the entire system.
    Steps to reproduce:
    1. Open any bigger INDD from a network drive, so the saving action takes some seconds.
    2. Change something and click save, then simulate a broken network connection by pulling the LAN cable
    Reaction: there might or might not be that "Save document" overlay with progress bar being at 0%. At this point, ID has two problems:

  17. Adobe InDesign 2024 and 2025 crash when pasting certain string into text box with particular font

    Hi, I’m a type designer and font delveloper (for more than 20 years) and have made a custom font (Latin) that makes extensive use of the Contextual Alternates feature (calt). Let's call the font FontXyz, it’s an OpenType CFF font (.otf).

    These are the steps that always cause InDesign to crash
    1: Text cursor is in an empty text box where my FontXyz is already set
    2: Pasting the string “1234,-”
    3: Crash

    I can prevent the crash by:
    a: Putting my cursor in between two spaces and then pasting the string “1234,-”
    b: Pasting the string without the “-”,…

  18. glyphs

    InDesign V20.3.1. (Windows) crashes when opening (or attempting to open) the Glyphs panel. The crash is consistently reproducible and definitely impacting production. The panel opens but remains blank (nothing displayed), then a few seconds later, InDesign crashes.

  20. InDesign newer than 20.3 and newer freezes on some documents from 19.X.X

    InDesign 20.3 and 20.3.1 hang and close with an error reporting dialog when opening some documents from InDesign 19.X.X. This issue does not occur in version 20.2.

    • Please provide spindump report, follow these steps:
    1. Open Activity Monitor: Go to Finder > Applications > Utilities > Activity Monitor.
    2. Select the Process: Locate the frozen or lagging application and click on it.
    3. Generate the Report: Click the gear icon in the Activity Monitor window and choose Spindump
    4. Save the Report: Click "Save" to store the spindump file on your system.
