    Thank you for contacting us and bringing the issue in the latest release of Adobe InDesign to our attention. We sincerely regret the inconvenience this has caused and fully understand how disruptive such interruptions can be to your workflow.

    Our preliminary analysis indicates that this issue may be an isolated scenario. We have identified a workaround that can help resolve the issue.

    Please rename the following folders:

    – Rename the CEP folder to CEP.old from:

    • macOS: /Library/Application Support/Adobe

    • Windows: C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Adobe

    If that doesn't help, rename the UXP folder to UXP.old from:

    • macOS: /Library/Application Support/Adobe and ~/Library/Application Support/Adobe

    • Windows: C:\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe and C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Adobe

    Once done, relaunch InDesign and check again.

  2. [ID-4260604] InDesign with Typeface app is going in Protective Shutdown on document close

    Customer Scenario1

    Brand new Indesign 20.2: open any document, change nothing in it and close it. Indesign gives a warning and then crashes.
    MacOS 15.3.1 (24D70), Macstudio M2, I have reset all personal prefs, I am using Typeface app. This didn't happen with 20.1

    Doing a data merging of a .CSV file.

    Result

    InDesign is going in Protective Shutdown for few scenarios

    Workaround

    • Deactivate the Typeface app and continue to work with InDesign v20.2.0.36
    • Rolling back to InDesign 20.1.0.71 to continue to work with the Typeface app

    The fix of the issue is now available in the latest InDesign 2025(v20.3.0.060). We recommend you upgrade to the latest version for the fix.

    If you are unable to see the update, go to the Creative Cloud application click on the context menu on the top right, and click on Check for App Updates.

  4. InDesign v 21.0 packaging bug hung up on idml file

    I created a document in the previous version of InDesign (v 20.5.1) and recently converted it to the new version to test things out. I was unable to package the design files from this file, it always seemed to get stuck on creating pdf and idml file and would completely freeze the program. It's definitely creating the files because the folder is there, but the idml file is only 1kb in size, so it's not being created properly. I converted the file back to the previous version and packaged and it did it with zero issues. Something different is happening…

  5. InDesign crashes/freezes when closing the document

    InDesign freezes when you close a document. We cannot open any documents, no action can be performed in InDesign. InDesign cannot be quit, it has to Forced Kill.

    Many internal as well as external factors can cause the InDesign application to crash/freeze/hang. A few workarounds are listed at Fix crash issues with InDesign.

    We completed the investigation and came up with the following: Either the issue has been resolved in the most recent release of InDesign (Refer to InDesign Release notes), the issue was intermittent at the time of reporting and is no longer reproducible, or the InDesign version mentioned in the report is no longer covered by Creative Cloud Support Policy.

    We would recommend you upgrade to the latest version as it is more robust. If you are still facing this issue even after updating it, either submit the crash report(Refer to Submitting crash reports) to us or Contact Adobe support.

  6. ドキュメントを開こうとしたらアラートが出て開かない

    macOS Sequoia Ver15.6 です。

    CC2022を起動してドキュメントを開こうとしたらアラートが出て開けません。
    アラートは「モーダルダイアログまたは警告がアクティブなために、要求された操作を処理できません」です。
    複数マシンがあるのですが、全て同じ結果でした。
    Yahoo知恵袋に「ネットを切ったら起動した」という記述があったので試したところ、起動はしました。
    InDesinの作業はできるのですが、ネットワークが使えないと、さまざまな支障が出てくるので、
    ネットを切らずに起動できるようにしたいのです。
    InDesignのバージョンは2022、2023、2024、2025を試しましたが、全て同じでした。
    マシンの再起動も試しました。
    OSの設定(セキュリティなど)諸々試しましたが、変化なしでした。
    恐らく、起動時のAdobeの認証他の動作に問題がある気がします。
    検証と改善を求めます。

  7. Crashes while editing cross-references

    1. InDesign 21.0
    2. Select cross-reference in text (see screenshot)
    3. Double-click name of cross-reference in the panel to edit
    4. Entire program freezes and has to be force quit (waited for about 20 min.)

    This happens with a couple of cross-references again and again. Some other cross-references work as they should.
    Document uses >500 Cross-references on several layers

  8. InDesign hangs constantly during normal editing with no CPU spike, on very fast win. 11 laptop with plenty of memory and drive space.

    When using InDesign normally (editing text, copying, pasting, rearranging objects, etc.). I am not saving, exporting, or anything, CPU does not spike, there is plenty of memory and disk space, it is a new high end laptop, it is plugged in, there are no power save features on.

    This didn't happen on my older win 10 machine and in older versions of InDesign.

    This SEVERELY interrupts workflows as it happens at least once every 15 min or so if not more.

  9. Window Explorer made unusable by opening InDesign

    InDesign Ver. 20.5

    Here's an odd one. InDesign doesn't appear to be crashing or freezing, itself, but it is instead making my Windows explorer taskbar unusable. I can't select any icon pinned to it--they won't even highlight when I cursor over them--and only opening and closing the task manager will make them selectable again. I've tried to replicate this happening with other programs, but it's only happening when InDesign is made active.

    Can't seem to figure out what's triggering it, but it tends to happen on start-up of the program and at random intervals while using InDesign. Suddenly…

    The fix of the issue is now available in the latest InDesign 2025(v20.4.1.004). We recommend you upgrade to the latest version for the fix.

    If you are unable to see the update, go to the Creative Cloud application click on the context menu on the top right, and click on Check for App Updates.

  11. InDesign process dies after 3 minutes

    I'm facing the following problem. I'm on a new Windows 11 (24H2) and have Creative Cloud and various apps like Photoshop (26,11), Illustrator (29.8.2) or InDesign (20.5) installed. Every app works fine except InDesign. No matter what INDD file I work on, what menu I'm in or if I just leave the app open showing the start page, after 3 minutes the InDesign.exe dies. I've checked that I have the latest updates, reinstalled it, removed all presettings of previous versions, tried to run as admin and in compatibilty mode. Nothing changes.   12. Stuck on adding font, other background task get stuck in queue that never clears

    Occasionally I open a document that tries to add fronts in background, it fails then the task is added to Background Tasks and hangs indefinitely. Then if I try to export a PDF, it is added to background tasks but will not progress until the fonts are added, which they never finish loading.

  13. Copying/cutting a table causes InDesign 2026 to crash

    Cutting and pasting tables causes InDesign to crash. This is especially true if there are any interactive elements in the table. You will receive crash reports every single time it crashes while I finish my work.

  14. [ID-4265787]InDesign 20.4.0 and above freezes when connected with Enterprise VPN

    Impossible to work with the latest version of InDesign 20.5. The screen freezes after a few second work. Only "end task" on Task manager is closing the program. (Working on PC under Windows 11 Enterprise)
    Only solution in the meantime is to switch to Version 19.5.5.

  16. Effects not working

    InDesign 20.5
    Inserted an image
    Trying to apply effect - soft light to the image and the image disappears
    The only effects working are Multiply, High Light, Darken, Difference, and Luminosity

  18. [ID-4257736]InDesign hangs when placing CJK tagged text with ruby

    I'm currently using ID 2024, but I have tested other versions of ID, back to CS6, and they all have the same problem. I'm currently running Windows 11, but the problem also occurs in Windows 10.

    Steps:

    1. Install the Adobe font family, Source Han Sans TW, on your computer.
    2. Download TaggedText.zip and unzip it
    3. Open InDesign in the CJK version

  19. Opening document message stuck when opening a document

    ID 20.5 on Mac Sequoia (M4 Pro).

    1. Open a document by double-clicking the file.
    2. The document opens.
    3. The "Opening document message" remains stuck in the display.
    4. The only solution to exit from this situation is to close ID.

  20. 2025 InDesign (v20.0) Frequent Crashing on MacOS 15.0.1 Sequoia

    Ever since the 2025 version of InDesign released earlier this month, I have had constant crashing issues while working on multiple files. I have been using MacOS 15 Sequoia since it released in September. At first it seemed to crash at random every 5-30 minutes while going between open indd tabs. I think I can more consistently trigger it now by trying to open/navigate around a .indt file.
